In the beginning we see God made the “fruit bearing trees”, each after His kind. And God saw the fruit bearing trees and said that it was “good”.

Genesis 1:11
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the “fruit tree yielding fruit” after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree “yielding fruit”, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was “good”.

Genesis 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is “the fruit of a tree” yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Also In Genesis 2:8-9 we see God planted a garden, and out of the ground God made every tree that was pleasant to the sight, and “good for food”= good fruit bearing trees

We see no mention of “thorns or briers” until after man had sinned against God’s command, and after God “cursed the ground”.

Notice…
Genesis 3:17-19 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: “cursed is the ground” for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 “Thorns also and thistles” shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Jesus said in a parable “the enemy”is the one who sowed the bad seed….

Matthew 13:24-26 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, “his enemy”came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.”

Jesus explains who sowed the “good fruit bearing seed” and who sowed the evil seed…. Matthew 13:37- 38 “He answered and said unto them, He that sows the “good seed” is the Son of man; The field is the world; the “good seed” are the children of the Kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The “enemy”that “sowed them” is “the Devil;”

Jesus said in Matthew 12:33
“Either “make” the tree good, and his fruit good; or else “make”the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.”

So who “makes” and “plants” the good trees that bear good fruit?

Matthew 15:13
But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father “hath not planted”, shall be rooted up.

The Lord plants trees of Righteousness….

Isaiah 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called “trees of righteousness”, “the planting of the Lord”, that he might be glorified.”

Praise be to the Lord our God for planting, and making us good fruit bearing trees of Righteousness!

So the Devil is the Son of man's enemy. Something bad went down between them.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:33
“Either “make” the tree good, and his fruit good; or else “make”the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.”
I have a question concerning the above. Maybe not a questions so much as a consideration of:
2 Corinthians 6:4-10 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, [5] In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; [6] By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by love unfeigned, [7] By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, [8] By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; [9] As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; [10] As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

As deceivers, and yet true.
As unknown, yet well known.
As dying, and, behold we live.
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing.
As poor, yet making many rich.
As having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
The only reason I brought this up here is because it seems what man calls good fruit is different than God’s definition. Point being…man may say the fruit is good being a deceiver, unknown, dying, sorrowful, having nothing, and poor. But God may say the fruit is yet true, well known, alive, rejoicing, making many rich, possessing all things. How will we know them by their fruits? Does it depend on what Fruit we are looking for? In the letter to the Corinthians it appears they don’t yet know Christ in Paul is not as one who fails. Yet Paul tells them “I trust you will know.”

Good trees will produce good fruit and evil trees will produce evil fruit.

If someone is made righteous by God then they will do righteous works.

John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

I’m not disputing any of the above. But in reading 2 Corinthians 6:8-10 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; [9] As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; [10] As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

I can’t ignore there’s two reports there that are polar opposites. Which tells me “you will know them by their fruits.” Somebody is calling the fruit not good but instead calling the fruit evil: dishonor, as deceivers, as dying, chastened, sorrowful, as poor, having nothing.

If you look at the Pharisees and religious leaders it sounds like what they did to Jesus. So how would they know Him by the Fruit, when they called Him the devil? Or saying He had a demon…

Ok, I see what you are saying. But not all the reports were true, like you pointed out in Jesus. There will be those who will call Light darkness and darkness Light, but the saints will know the difference.

When Jesus said YOU will know them by their fruits, I would say He was speaking to those who knew Him as well.

That is why I love the exchange (or giving) of the riches of God (Imo) in
2 Corinthians 13:4-10. To me there is that false report …those calling Light darkness and darkness Light. But it’s hopeful in trusting God to open the eyes of the blind who call Light darkness. To me that says God shit the mouth of those false reports. As Saul knew well when he also stood proud and they who stoned Stephen laid their coats at a young Saul’s feet. It’s very in your face that they (the Corinthians being written to) are calling Christ in Paul as a reprobate. As one who fails. They are seeking for proof that Christ speaks in Paul. Clearly they are blind to the fruit of Christ or they wouldn’t call Light darkness. Paul says “I will be weak that you be made strong.” Or along the same line I will be poor that you —many be made rich. Who does Paul trust, is it not God to open their blind eyes —then who will they see? What fruit will be seen? We look for New Heavens. Paul has the confidence in Christ to say “I trust you will know we are not reprobates”. Are they not still blind and do not see the Spirit of God in them? But …who gives sight to the blind, and raises up the dead unto Life?” I wish I had that kind of Faith, trust and hope in the face of rejection. The kind of Faith, hope and trust that pierces through the vail of flesh over hearts. I do see this fruit you speak of that glorifies God in the below:

For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. [5] Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? [6] But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. [7] Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. [8] For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. [9] For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection. [10] Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Being rejected and called evil by unbelievers is a part of entering into the sufferings of Christ. Jesus said the world cannot hate you, it is me it hates. So those who are of the world will also hate and bear false witness against those who have the Light of the Truth in them, and that Light is Christ.

That is the condemnation, they love the darkness more than the Light.

Yesterday I got told by some young people that God won’t save you! There is no God! He doesn’t exist. You gotta be patient with them, and continue to offer hope in the face of opposition. Residing in the Holy Spirit, abide in Christ and not to go off on them and condemn them to hell. That’s about stupid.

We need to be like Jesus….

You remind me of what is talked about in Jude.

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Even Michael didn't bring up a railing accusation.

I like this one…

Proverbs 25:21-22

King James Version

21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.
