God is really the only one who can answer that question. The good news is, He will if you allow Him to show you.

You know, I asked God that same question a couple years ago when I was in a really bad place in my life. If you give Him time, He will show you your role in His Kingdom, and it may actually surprise you. We are all formed by Him with a special purpose.

It's not easy, but it's worth it.
    Hang in there, Wayne :)

That depends Wayne where your beliefs are directed at. But I can tell you, that if you have sincere faith in Jesus, then this verse tells you exactly who you are:

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:

    God bless.

Many people spend their whole lives asking themselves the very same question. The sadest part is, they never find the answer.

Most people, don't even decide what they want to do for a living until their mid 20's. Most people don't even realise they need to take care of their health until they reach 30.

Seems to me, once you get a grasp on who you're NOT, you'll see who you are. Who you are is what you're about. It's your character that is the defining definition of who you are. It's not your clothes, your taste in music, your favorite color, the car you drive, or the culture you relate to.

So, maybe, you should ask yourself, "What is my character?" "What do I stand for?"

The rest of the world feels the need to find an identity, and I guess I've been through that too. You seem to be the type that follows their own path regardless of outside suggestions, or the supposed "norm" society has set for us to follow. That's a great thing!

And interesting post and worthy of ponder.

It took me 33 years to come to realise that I need Jesus. It took me over 40 years to come to realise I need to look after my health. But sadly, by then a lot of permanent damage has already occurred which happened in my case. But thank God I have Jesus in my life, He is the only One who motivates me to get out of bed each day and to live through the day.

I wish I had have worked out who I was before 33 years of age, then my life would have probably been a lot healthier and better.

    God bless.

Who we are is ultimately unknowable in this life because we are covered with the stain and ugliness of sin. Salvation pays the price for that sin, but the blemishes and brokeness of our spirit remains. We heal somewhat, but only when our works are burned in the fire of the Bema Judgement of believers, when our unrighteousness is finally scorched away, is when our real identities will shine through. Not only physically, but spiritually. We will be knowable for the first time!

Perhaps its a reluctance to face who we are that causes us to ask this question, the bible says about the human heart that it is wicked above all things and ask the question who can know it,man's life is short and full of trouble...modern man claims to be a "seeker" of truth...because he knows that if he finds it he will have to submit to it.... so he prefers seeking instead, looking for a "truth" that pleases him rather than one that will expose and rule over him.

    Lovely.

If God is the infinite and eternal and nothing exists but Him - then there was no one else for Him to love.
Singular and alone, He had to imagine Himself as another for whom He could love and be loved by...thus,
the creation and it's so-called Crown of Creation - Man.
Man's heart is what we were created for - to adore and worship and love Him - to be given freely to Him,

    That is who I know myself to be - a creation of Almighty God, my Father, my Beloved...created for one purpose;
to learn and grow in the knowledge of who I am - His Beloved.

And no one needs to think or believe as I do...just sayin'.

    :)
