Well- first off I believe you mean in Genesis 32:24-30.Now one popular belief is this was an angel that wrestled with Jacob.Perhaps a messenger from God to tell him he will now be called Israel- and a great nation will come from him.Another belief is that This was God. Jacob claims he has seen God face to face here- but lets look at scripture. 1 John 4:7-21 Says noone has seen God.Another time we are told-In Exodus 33:20 God said to Moses: “You cannot see My face; for no man can see Me and live.”So perhaps this was God in the form of a "man" or "angel"But this couldnt have been "God face to face"

To me, the scripture....You cannot see My face; for no man can see Me and live,” means you must be passed from this physical life in order to see Him, not that it would kill you to see His face. He is in another dimension and we can't see Him until we are there with Him.So...I agree with you in that "this was God in the form of a "man" or "angel." Where it is shown as "Angel of the Lord" I believe that is Christ. For instance...Melchizedek. As the "Angel of the Lord" and/or Melcheizedek He is with us in this dimension....not just in spirit but in form.......Whirlwind

My vote is for angel. In the story Jacob fights so hard the being could not prevail without crippling Jacob (cheats) in order to try and make him stop. Have a problem with God doing that to Jacob and also God not being able to prevail against Jacob.

So Jacob, a man, is over-powering Jesus, God. So Jesus cripples Jacob to try and make him submit.

It is written.Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. Plus Jacob was named Israel. The name Israel means "the prince that prevails with God".

Genesis 32 ; 24 - 26 , And I Quite ; And Jacob was left alone and there < Awbaq > ''Wrestled a < Eesh > 'Male Living Being , the Eloheem with him until the breaking of < Shakar > ' the dawn '' because he was running away in fear Verse 24 . And when he , the Eloheem , saw that he did not < Yawkole > Overcome ' him Jacob . He < Nawgah > 'Touched the < Kaf > Calf of his < Yawrake > Thigh , and the < Kaf > Calf of Jacobs < Yawrake > Thigh was < Yawqah > Dislocated as he < Awbaq > Wrestled with him , so he could not run . Verse 26 . And he Eloheem said to Jacob '' Let me go from here , for < Shakar > , the dawn , is < Awlaw > 'Ascending . And he , Jacob , said '' I will not let you go from here unless you give me your < Bawrak > Blessing that it is okay to run . In Genesis 32 ; 28 And also Genesis 35 ; 10 Jacob gets the name Israel because he wrested against an angel of Yahuwa ( The Lord ) The word Israel is pronounced Yis - Raw - Ale In Aramic ( Hebrew ) And Israa'el In Ashuric / Syraic ( Arabic ) Which means '' El prevails or ascending to El . But when you continue to read further on in Genesis 32 ; 29 . 30 , And chapter 33 , He is still being called Jacob , And make note that this is after his name is change to Israel by an Eloheem in Genesis 32 ; 28 Where it states ; '' Thy Name Shall Be Called No More Jacob , But Israel '' Yet they continue to violate this and call him Jacob . Elohe , And Eloh of the Eloheem also makes a mistake by calling him Jacob when he says in Exodus 3 ; 6 ; '' Moreover He Said I Am The Elohe ( God ) of thy < Awb > Father . The Elohe ( God ) Of Abraham , The Elohe ( God ) Isaac And The Elohe ( God ) Of Jacob . And Moses hid his face ; For he was afraid to look upon Eloheem ( Gods ) . This is an Elohe , Which is the single form of Eloheem speaking , Which is obviously a different Elohe from the one in Genesis 32 ; 28 Who change Jacob's name to Israel . And stated '' Don't call him Jacob any longer . This is definitely a different Elohe or Eloheem than the one that fought Jacob in Genesis 32 ; 24 - 25 . . Verse 27 . And he the Eloheem said to him , '' What's your name ? And he Jacob said , '' Jacob'' . In the process of trying to run from his brother Esau , Jacob was stopped by What calls an < Eesh > '' Male Living Being implying that this was A Physical Man . Genesis 32 ; 24 , Says clearly ; And Jacob Was Left Alone . And There < Awbaq > ( Wrestled ) A < Essh > ( Male Man ) With Him Until The Braking Of The Day . This quote uses The Aramic Hebrew word '' Eesh , Meaning '' Male Living Being , A Physical Being . This is saying that this man was An Angel and that Angel ( Genesis 32 ; 1 ) was a man . At this point Jacob met a group of < Malawk > 'Angels ' Oviously in physical form . So in Genesis 32 ; 28 , This man is representing The Eloheem who are < Malawk > Angelic Beings . Jacob did wrestle with him , And the simple fact that Jacob's thigh was broken because of his fight with The Angel which lasted for almost 8 hours prove that it was A Physical Fight . Thus Angels come in physical form , He named the place Peni'el ( Fen-El ) meaning '' The Face Of El , Because He Said He '' Met God Face To Face '' In Genesis 32 ; 30 . In Genesis 32 ; 28 Jacob gets the name Israel because he wrestled against an Angel Of Yahuwa ( The Lord ) . The word Israel is pronounced Yis - Raw - Ale in Aramic / Hebrew and in Ashuric / Syriac ( Arabic ) which means '' El Prevails or Ascending to El '' . He Is Also Blessed By The Angel . This Blessing Was Not A Riligious Blessing , But Simply A < Bawrak > Blessing ' Because Jacob demanded the angel's permission in Genesis 32 ; 26 '' To Let Him Run From His Brother Esau . It was simply a request for him to continue running from his brother Esau . Who He And His Mother Rebecca Stole The < Bekoraw > '' Birthight From According To Genesis 27 ; 5 - 46 . Verse 28 . And he the Eloheem said , Your name will be < Awmar > 'Uttered ' no more as Jacob , but as Israel '' ascend to El ; Because as a < Sawraw > 'Struggler with the Eloheem and with Enosite , and has < Yawkole > Prevailed . Verse 29 . And Jacob asked and said , Tell me I ask of you what is your name ? And he the Eloheem said , '' What are you asking my name for ? And he < Bawrak > Blessed him there . Verse 30 . And Jacob called , the name of the place < Feniel > Penie , because I HAVE < Rawaw > Seen ' the Eloheem < Fawneem > Face ' < Ale > To ' < Fawneem > Face , and my < Nehfesh > Spirit is < Nawtsal > Delivered ' . Verse 31 . And as he < Awbar > Crossed Over ' < Feniel > Penie , the sun appeared to raise upon him and he was < Tsawlah > Limping ' because of his < Yawrake > Thigh . Verse 32 . Therefore the children of Israel < Awkal > Eat ' not of the < Gheed > Muscle which was where he was < Nawsheh > Hit , right on the < Kaf > Calf of the < Yawrake > Thigh ' , to this day , because he < Nawgah > Touched the hollow of Jacob's < Yawrake > Thigh in the < Gheed > Muscle that was < Nawsheh > Hit ..
