Ever since dirt-cheap hydroxycroquine has been recommended to fight Wuhan virus, it has been savagely attacked by the media and the so-called experts. And Anthony Fauci – who knows better – has been undermining its use from day one.

Now that President Trump publicly announced that he is taking Dr. Zelenko’s treatment, everyone on the Left is up in arms and attacking Trump (for protecting himself). To all medical professionals around the world:

My name is Dr. Zev Zelenko and I practice medicine in Monroe, NY. For the last 16 years, I have cared for approximately 75% of the adult population of Kiryas Joel, which is a very close knit community of approximately 35,000 people in which the infection spread rapidly and unchecked prior to the imposition of social distancing.

As of today my team has tested approximately 200 people from this community for Covid-19, and 65% of the results have been positive. If extrapolated to the entire community, that means more than 20,000 people are infected at the present time. Of this group, I estimate that there are 1500 patients who are in the high-risk category (i.e. >60, immunocompromised, comorbidities, etc).

Given the urgency of the situation, I developed the following treatment protocol in the pre-hospital setting and have seen only positive results:
1. Any patient with shortness of breath regardless of age is treated.
2. Any patient in the high-risk category even with just mild symptoms is treated.
3. Young, healthy and low risk patients even with symptoms are not treated (unless their circumstances change and they fall into category 1 or 2).

My out-patient treatment regimen is as follows:
1. Hydroxycroquine 200 mg twice a day for 5 days
2. Azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 5 days
3. Zinc sulfate 220 mg once a day for 5 days

The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with the recent study published from France (sites available on request). We know that hydroxycroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low.

Since last Thursday, my team has treated approximately 350 patients in Kiryas Joel and another 150 patients in other areas of New York with the above regimen. [Note: since then he has administered this to at least 700 patients]

Of this group and the information provided to me by affiliated medical teams, we have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. In addition, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10% of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

In sum, my urgent recommendation is to initiate treatment in the outpatient setting as soon as possible in accordance with the above. Based on my direct experience, it prevents acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prevents the need for hospitalization and saves lives.

Moments after President Donald Trump shockingly declared that he has been taking the controversial anti-malarial drug hydroxycroquine as preventive treatment for the coronavirus, Fox News host Neil Cavuto warned viewers that the drug could literally kill them.

“All right, that was stunning,” Cavuto gasped after Trump’s remarks concluded. “The President of the United States just acknowledged that he’s taking hydroxycroquine, a drug that is really meant to treat malaria and lupus. The president insisted that it has enormous benefits for patients either trying to prevent or already have COVID-19.”

The veteran Fox News anchor went on to note that while the president in the past has said “what have you got to lose” regarding taking the drug, several recent studies showed that vulnerable people do “have one thing to lose—their lives.”

Cavuto highlighted the results from clinical trials and extensive studies that revealed no noticeable efficacy in treating COVID-19, including a recent government-funded Veterans Affairs study that found more deaths associated with coronavirus patients who took the drug as a treatment.

“The VA study to which the president alluded wasn’t a loaded political one, it was a test on patients there,” Cavuto declared. “And those who took it in a vulnerable population including those with respiratory and other conditions, they died.”

“I want to stress again, If you are taking this as a preventative treatment to ward off the virus or in a worst-case scenario, you are dealing with the virus, and you are in this vulnerable population, it will kill you,” the Fox host strongly stated. “I cannot stress that enough. This. Will. Kill. You.”

After pointing out that the Food and Drug Administration has warned against the use of the drug due to serious side effects such as “serious heart rhythm problems in patients with COVID-19,” Cavuto brought on a doctor to discuss Trump’s announcement, who said he was “very surprised” by Trump’s revelation.

“As far as our treatment of COVID-19 patients, whether you are slightly ill or very ill, we have seen no effect whatsoever with this drug,” St. Joseph University Hospital Chairman Dr. Bob Lahita said, expressing additional concerns about the potential for fatal arrhythmia.​

Responding to what he called inaccurate media reporting, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie criticized a widely cited study of veterans that concluded treating COVID-19 patients with hydroxycroquine was unsafe. Speaking to reporters Tuesday afternoon during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, Wilkie said the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration have been using hydroxycroquine for 65 years for diseases such as malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. "On any given day, the VA uses 42,000 doses of this drug," he said.

2. THE ANTI-TRUMP MEDIA WERE IN A UPROAR BECAUSE OF TRUMP

3. THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA (UVA) STUDY WAS A SHAM
Wilkie emphasized that the study in question was not conducted by the VA as has been widely reported. As WND has reported, it was a "UVA" study, short for the University of Virginia. "Researchers took VA numbers and they did not clinically review them," Wilkie said. "They were not peer reviewed. They did not even look at ... the various comorbidities that the patients who were referenced in that study had." The researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine said they found that more patients who took hydroxycrquine died than those who didn't. Renowned infectious disease specialist Dr. Stephen Smith – who has promoted hydroxycroquine as a "game changer," reporting success among his patients – has called the Virginia study a "sham."

4. NEIL CAVUTO IS AN ANTI-TRUMPER AND TRIED TO ATTACK TRUMP WHILE FEAR-MONGERING
But after Trump's news conference Monday, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto pointed to the results of the UVA study as cause for alarm, telling viewers people in the "risky population" or who have the virus will die if they follow the president's example.

5. NY GOVERNOR CUOMO ASKED FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOSES OF HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE!
On Tuesday, however, the VA secretary emphasized that he received clear instructions from the president "to preserve and protect life." "Those of us who have had a military life -- some of us around this table -- we've been taking this drug for years," he said of hydroxycroquine. "And what we did when this virus first hit us was to every means necessary to help preserve life," he said. "So I want to knock down the story that this is somehow the VA going back on what the president told us to do, which was to use every means possible to protect and preserve the lives of our veterans," he said. Wilkie pointed out that New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked for "tens of thousands of doses" of hydroxycroquine for "frontline workers."

6. FDA HAD ALREADY APPROVED HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE FOR DECADES AND "OFF LABEL" USE IS LEGITIMATE
Wilkie had been asked by President Trump to respond after a reporter asked the president why he was taking hydroxycroquine as a prophylactic when the FDA has advised that it not be used outside of a hospital setting. Trump said that is not what he had been told, calling on Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar for input. Azar pointed out that hydroxycroquine has been approved by the FDA for decades for treatment of malaria, lupus and RA "Once a drug has been approved and on the market, a doctor can prescribe it for "off-label" purposes, which are "indications that are not yet proven and not yet on the label," he explained. Azar referenced the "right to try" legislation passed under Trump's leadership that allows experimental therapies with existing drug regimens. The HHS secretary noted that many studies of hydroxycroquine have been done later in the progression of COVID-19. He said his agency is still working on controlled studies earlier in the progression of the disease in mild to moderate cases.

7. TRUMP CORRECTLY CALLED THE UVA STUDY PHONY
Calling the study on veterans "phony," Trump said the patients reviewed were "extremely sick people" near death with heart problems or diabetes. He pointed to "great studies" on the drug from Italy, France, Spain, the U.S., and other countries. The president emphasized that taking the drug as a prophylactic is a "line of defense" against the virus that is "very inexpensive" but must be done in consultation with a doctor. "I think it gives you an additional level of safety," he said. "But you can ask many doctors who are in favor of it. Many frontline workers won't go there unless they have hydroxy."

8. HCQ GOT A BAD RAP ONLY BECAUSE TRUMP PRAISED IT
Trump quipped that it's "gotten a bad reputation only because I'm promoting it." "So obviously I'm a very bad promoter," he said. It analyzed the medical records of 368 male veterans hospitalized with confirmed coronavirus infection at Veterans Health Administration medical centers who died or were discharged by April 11. About 28% of patients who were given hydroxycroquine in addition to the usual care died compared to 11% who received routine care alone, the study concluded. But only three of the researchers were physicians and all of them were trained in ophthalmology, Smith argued. "It's a sham. It's a shame on UVA," he said. "I sent an email to the dean of the medical school at UVA. I have not heard back from them. It is an embarrassment that UVA allows this thing to be called a study."

10. 6,200 PHYSICIANS WORLDWIDE FOUND HCQ THE BEST DRUG AVAILABLE
In early April, a poll of 6,200 physicians in 30 countries found hydroxycroquine to be the best drug available to treat COVID-19. At the same time, Smith declared he had seen 100% success in his treatment of 72 seriously ill COVID-19 patients with hydroxcroquine and azithromycin. "I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic," he said in an April 1 interview with Ingraham. "I'm very serious." "It's a game-changer. An absolute game-changer."

Cavuto then interviewed Dr. Bob Lahita, the chairman of medicine at St. Joseph University Hospital, who said he was surprised by Trump's statement. The physician said he and his colleagues used it two and a half months ago on patients who were very ill, "and we saw absolutely no effect." However, Cavuto then spoke to another physician, Fox News medical contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, who said she thought it was "very smart" for Trump to take the drug as a "prophylactic preventative measure" after members of his administration tested positive for the virus. She cautioned that people who have "underlying cardiac arrhythmia" should be careful, using it only if they are "on their death bed" as a last resort.

The British government has spent approximately £90 million on the research so far, however, Dr William Haseltine, a former Harvard Medical School professor, noted that the rhesus macaques monkeys who received the vaccine were found to have the same amount of virus in their noses as non-vaccinated monkeys in the trial.

“All of the vaccinated monkeys treated with the Oxford vaccine became infected when challenged.” Dr Haseltine wrote, adding that “There was no difference in the amount of viral RNA detected from (nasal secretions) in the vaccinated monkeys as compared to the unvaccinated animals.” “Which is to say, all vaccinated animals were infected.” the doctor added.

“It is crystal clear that the vaccine did not provide sterilising immunity to the virus challenge, the gold standard for any vaccine.” Dr Haseltine also said.

[Jonathan] Ball, Professor of Molecular Biology at Nottingham University said that the ChAdOx1 nCov-19 vaccine findings are “concerning”. “The amount of virus genome detected in the noses of the vaccinated and un-vaccinated monkeys was the same and this is concerning.” Ball wrote. “If this represents infectious virus and a similar thing occurs in humans, then vaccinated people can still be infected and shed large amounts of virus.” he added, warning that “This could potentially spread to others in the community.”

Eleanor Riley, a professor of immunology and infectious disease at Edinburgh University also said the number of antibodies produced was ‘insufficient’ to prevent infection and viral shedding. “If similar results were obtained in humans, the vaccine would likely provide partial protection against disease in the recipient but would be unlikely to reduce transmission in the wider community,” Riley said.

While funding is pouring into vaccine trials, research from California claims to have discovered anti-bodies that can completely block COVID-19.

San Diego based Sorrento Therapeutics announced that an antibody named STI-1499 stopped coronavirus from entering 100 percent of healthy human cells in petri dish experiments. The company has filed for emergency approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), promising that it can produce up to 200,000 doses of the antibody a month.

In further research at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, another antibody, called S309, was found to effectively target the ‘spike proteins’ found on the outside of the coronavirus, that are key to the invasion of human cells.

In a press release, researchers said that lab tests showed S309 attaches itself to the proteins, neutralizing them. It will be interesting to observe whether the ineffective vaccine or the effective antibody research gets more funding going forward.

The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with the recent study published from France (sites available on request). We know that hydroxycroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low.

Since last Thursday, my team has treated approximately 350 patients in Kiryas Joel and another 150 patients in other areas of New York with the above regimen. [Note: since then he has administered this to at least 700 patients]

Of this group and the information provided to me by affiliated medical teams, we have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. In addition, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10% of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

In sum, my urgent recommendation is to initiate treatment in the outpatient setting as soon as possible in accordance with the above. Based on my direct experience, it prevents acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prevents the need for hospitalization and saves lives.

How could a cheap, effective drug, FDA-approved and in use worldwide since 1955, suddenly be restricted for outpatient use by American physicians? On March 28, 2020, as physicians worldwide were seeing striking success using hydroxycroquine to treat COVID-19, the FDA erected bureaucratic barriers.

Rick Bright, Ph.D., is an FDA bureaucrat, vaccine researcher and was appointed by President Obama on Nov. 15, 2016, to head BARDA (Biomedical Advance Research and Development Authority, a sub-agency of the FDA). In an unprecedented move, Bright expanded his power and claimed credit for being the person imposing his will on all of us.

In an appalling admission, Bright said: "Specifically, and contrary to misguided directives, I limited the broad use of croquine and hydroxycroquine, promoted by the administration as a panacea, but which clearly lack scientific merit." Meanwhile, he promoted both remdesivir, a never-approved experimental antiviral in development by Gilead Sciences, and a vaccine for COVID-19. Early effective use of the older, safe and available hydroxycroquine, whose patents had expired decades ago, would decrease demand for these new products.

Rick Bright's dictatorial decree limits the use of croquine (CQ) and hydroxycroquine (HCQ) from the National Strategic Stockpile in COVID-19 to hospitalized patients only. States are using Bright's fiat to impose broad restrictions limiting the drugs' availability for physicians to use for outpatients to help them recover without hospitalization. [Note: the question arises as to why Trump failed to immediately fire Bright and rescind his criminal restrictions]

In other countries, early use in outpatients is changing the life-and-death equation by reducing severity and spread of illness, greatly reducing the need for hospitalization and ventilators and markedly reducing deaths.

By his own admission, Rick Bright, who is not a physician,knowingly and unilaterally countermanded Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, Adm. Giroir in charge of Public Health Service and the president of the United States, who had directed BARDA to establish a Nationwide Expanded Access Investigational New Drug ("IND") protocol for croquine, which would provide significantly greater outpatient access for the drug than would an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Unlike an EUA, a Nationwide Expanded Access IND protocol would make the drug available for the treatment of COVID-19 outside a hospital setting at physicians' medical discretion based on patients' needs.

How does one non-physician bureaucrat have such power with impunity? How can one person brag about blocking physicians' attempt to reduce hospitalization and deaths during a national emergency? [Note: and how could this man be allowed to even be in office when Trump promised to Drain the Swamp?]

It is a falsehood to say that the administration promoted HCQ as a "panacea" or that this medicine "clearly lacks scientific merit." Both statements are contradicted by video recordings of presidential briefings, by NIH/CDC studies going back 15 years, and by U.S. and worldwide clinical outcomes studies in COVID-19.

It is unprecedented to restrict physicians from prescribing FDA-approved drugs for a newly discovered use – "off-label." This is contrary to FDA regulations in place since World War II.

Basic science studies published in 2005 from our own CDC and NIH showed clearly that CQ and HCQ work early in SARS-CoV to block viral entry and multiplication, and suggested that they would not work as well in late-stage disease when the viral load had become huge. When SARS-CoV-1 waned and disappeared by late 2003, the drugs were not submitted for FDA-approval for this coronavirus.

In 2019, when Chinese doctors recognized the deadly impact of SARS-CoV-2, they began trying known and available anti-viral medicines, especially CQ and HCQ, based on 15-year-old studies. They shared information with South Korea, India, Turkey, Iran and several other countries, which also began quickly and successfully using CQ and HCQ, alone or with azithromycin. Later, Brazil, Israel, Costa Rica, Australia and others followed, with good results.

Based on these initial clinical reports, President Trump said, at an early press briefing, that CQ and HCQ "offered hope." [Note: President Trump failed to fire Fauci, Birx, and Redfield, and made such a weak and equivocal statement when a strong, unequivocal statement was required. So Mr. Trump must take as much blame as Rick Bright]

More studies have replicated these findings. HCQ given within the first week of symptoms, especially with zinc, can prevent the virus from entering your body's cells and taking over, much like people use locks and alarms to stop burglaries. Waiting until you are in the ICU is like installing home locks and alarm system after burglars have invaded, vandalized your home and stolen all your valuables. The drugs cannot reliably undo the damage from the exaggerated immune response, or cytokine storm, triggered by COVID-19.

Examples from the world data on May 18, 2020, which is updated daily, show how Third World countries are faring far better than the U.S., where entrenched bureaucrats, governors, and medical and pharmacy boards are interfering with physicians' medical decisions.

Instead of orchestrating a war on HCQ, the media should be asking key questions, such as:
1. How does ONE person, by his own admission, block directives from his superiors to expand availability of HCQ for outpatients and nursing home patients in the U.S.?
2. What is the cost in lives and economic damage resulting from one person's decision to restrict physicians' independent medical decision-making?
3. How many nursing home deaths could have been prevented if physicians had been allowed early access to HCQ?
4. Why are U.S. doctors and nurses prevented from using HCQ prophylactically when workers in China, South Korea, India, Brazil, Argentina, Israel, Australia, Turkey, France and other countries can be protected?
5. Why does the U.S., with its a much more sophisticated medical infrastructure, have a much higher mortality rate than poor countries?

Bright's disastrous bureaucratic decision may well be remembered as one of the worst preventable medical tragedies in our time. @Enoch111 Just thought I would let you know they are trialling this drug on front line nurses in Brighton ( where I live ) and Oxford in the UK to see if it acts as a preventative - not sure how long the trial will go on for , but if I hear anymore I will add it to this thread x

I think that is why they are doing trials rather than say ‘ it’s okay ‘ .I would presume that it also depends on what other meds you are taking, which is a problem with many drugs.
I guess there will always the stupid people who just decide to take it rather than find our if it is okay for them to take it, especially when there is so much fear about this virus. I am amazed about many people ‘ hear ‘ something in the press and totally believe it without using their common sense. Equally, the president is at liberty to take what he wants under medical supervision, but as with everything tases days it is all used to argue a point from one side or the other !
