No longer playing Church anymore. If my heart is right with God, then my trust is in Him, He will not fail me and I would not be deceived. "Knowing" the "signs" has nothing to do with that.As far as "knowing", it has been my experience that no one really knows and are mistaken about what they think they know. Every decade of my life people have said He is coming at least once if not more on some specific date, or season or year. And they were VERY certain and VERY sincere in that belief. From what I have read about Christians over the last 500 years, my experience is not unique.Nothing evident here suggests anything new to me. There is not agreement here on what everyone "knows", so who to believe? And why would God let some "know" and others "know" something else or still others nothing at all?
I lean towards your way of thinking Bubba, When we say "we know" on any given subject we may or may not decieve ourselves. Case in point, If I were to tell you my name is Ray and I was born in Grand Rapids, MI. That may be true , and I BELIEVE it is but I don't know that it is . I may well have been adopted by two loving parents in Michigan and never been told my birth name or the State I was born in, I realize that is pretty far out , but at the same time I hear of such things happening on T.V. talk shows quite often, haven't you?Such being the case I believe the bible is the word of God because to me it has proven it's self by the hundreds of prophesies about Jesus and other happenings that have proved true over the years. So my salvation and faith in God (which is a gift) is something that I choose to believe not something I KNOW. I wish it was, but in all honesty I can't say it is, maybe one day but not at present. The bible says "Now we see through a glass darkly" (1 Cor. 13:12) and that we only KNOW in part, I guess that's where I stand now. As far as God informing some and not others I would assume that being who He is He has the privilege of picking and choosing according to His pleasure. As in the case of Daniel, Jeremiah, and a number of others....God Bless...Ray
