[1 Timothy 3:1 KJV] "This [is] a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.".........a bishop is an overseer, an elder, in the church. We would call them pastors. A women can't meet the qualifications set out in scripture to be a bishop.

[1 Timothy 3:2 KJV] "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;"
[Titus 1:5 KJV] "For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:"
[Titus 1:6 KJV] "If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.".........In both Timothy and Titus, a bishop must be a husband. A women can't be a husband and therefore is disqualified from holding that office.

[1 Timothy 3:4 KJV] "One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;"
[1 Timothy 3:5 KJV] "(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)".........Both of these verses say a bishop has to be one who rules HIS own house well. They both place this obligation on men NOT women. This passage also asks "how shall HE take care of the church of God?" which limits that office to men.

[1 Timothy 3:6 KJV] "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.".........This restricts a bishop as being a man who is a novice, new to the faith.

[1 Timothy 3:7 KJV] "Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.".......... HE must have a good report, lest HE fall into reproach: there is no accommodation for women.

[Titus 1:9 KJV] "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers."..........HE must hold fast the Word, not he and she, not she. There are strictly confined parameters of who can be a bishop and there are no exemptions or provisions for a woman to occupy the office of a bishop in the church.

[1 Timothy 2:12 KJV] "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."..........If a woman claims the office of a bishop she would be usurping the authority God gave to men to occupy that office. God determines how he sets the church in order. Not placing women in the role of a bishop is not a slight toward women. God sets responsibilities and our roles as he sees fit. A women has a function in the church that was only prescribed for her to fulfill.
