If a new believer does not change his friends, his spiritual future is bound to be shallow and weak.
It is impossible for a Christian to have many worldly friends if he truly loves the Lord and serves Him faithfully. The Lord Jesus is the Friend of sinners, not the sinners' friend -- He came to seek and to save those lost in trespasses and sin (Luke 19:10) not to join with them.
Baptism is a public announcement that declares, "I have come out of the world."
According to the Bible, salvation is related primarily to the world, not to hell. The opposite of salvation is the world. And as long as we belong to the world, we are not saved from it.
Salvation is a matter of position. As long as a person is walking according to the course of the world he stands opposed to God, making him an enemy to God.
From the Epistles we can discover a marvelous truth: what God stresses most for the believer is the future. He is not concerned with the past life, nor does He labor over what we should do about the past -- because our past is under the blood.
In your born-again spirit, you are one with God. First Corinthians 6:17 declares, "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him". The word "joined" means glued together, fused, inseparable. There's no distance between you and God in the spirit realm. You're not trying to reach Him—you're already connected. You can see from His perspective, feel what He feels, and receive information straight from Heaven. When you understand this, worship becomes less about performance and more about communion. It's not about getting God to show up; it's about recognizing He's already here, already within you, already listening.
"Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to im, bless His name." - Psalm 100:4
Learning to live from your spirit rather than your soul is a lifestyle, not a one-time decision. Your feelings are not in charge, truth is. When you feel disconnected from God, that's the moment to declare, "This is not true. There is no wedge, no distance between You and me." Speak directly to the lie, and watch your authority level shift.
The flesh and the Spirit are at enmity with one another; they go in opposite directions. So if you don't feel like worshiping, you know what the Spirit wants—to worship. If you think it's too loud, the Spirit says it's not loud enough. If you don't want to be somewhere, that's exactly where you need to be. Your spirit already knows how to worship. Your job is to tell your soul to follow.
Whether you're in your car, at work, or in a corporate gathering, you have access to the throne room. You have the authority to move God's heart. You have the privilege of calling Him Abba, Father. Don't rob yourself of this gift. Don't settle for shallow, soul-driven worship when spirit-led intimacy is available.
Make the conscious choice: It's all about Jesus and nothing else. Stay at the foot of the cross with no thought of leaving. Worship in spirit and in truth, and watch how everything changes.
