A friend of mine rang me yesterday and he was concerned about not hearing God clearly. He is what us costals call very sharp in the Lord [discerning] but lately this has not been the case and he is wondering why things have changed slightly for him.
Oddly enough, his wife came for a fly by visit a few weeks back...and although she mentioned nothing about her personal circumstance...I was struck by something that I could discern sitting on her like a cloak...
Anyway, he asked me why I thought the Holy Spirit was cautioning him because he had made a couple of Christian videos which he was about to post on his fb page ~ one was about "how to hear the voice of God" but felt a strong caution against doing so, in his spirit. This happened a number of times with various Christian vids he had made...He uses his fb page as an opportunity to minister to his non-believing friends about God.
I told him that you cannot preach what you do not live. Now he is an awesome brother in the Lord but God had been talking to me about him for a number of weeks and I had being praying for their situation as God had revealed it through the Holy Spirit.
I didn't beat around the bush with him but told him what the Lord had revealed to me. When his wife turned up to visit, the Lord gave me a word "a wife abandoned". I said that the Lord wanted him to love the wife of his youth and not to abandon her. To love her like Christ loved the Church. Now just to make things a little clearer, he is not having an affair or anything like that but certain thoughts had crept in that made him question whether he had married the right person, accompanied with how happy other couples were compared to his own relationship. He had fed on these thoughts for some time and God wanted to address this issue in his life.
He agreed with what I had said because God gave him a dream a few weeks back about his wife looking down on him from afar. His feelings for her in that dream were the same as when they had first got married and he was saddened by how distant they seem at present. God gave him two key passages in that dream which was "the wife of your youth" and a "wife abandoned." He was kinda annoyed with me because I hadn't told him earlier about what God had revealed [even though God had already being speaking to him through his dream] but I told him that I had been praying that God revealed it to him rather than me saying anything because he is such a very private person.
Please pray for my friend and his wife that God teach him how to love his wife like Christ loved the Church. It is sooo powerfully significant that men of God understand this principle!....
