The majority of Christians believe the Bible is an inspired document, however, many disagree on which perspective the Bible is written from. So is the Bible written from God's perspective or Human perspective? When you read the Bible is it human's commentary on God or the other way around? I strongly believe the Bible is inspired, but written by human hand and therefore limited by human perspective. Every word in the Bible is supposed to be there, however the meaning can only be captured in broad strokes because it is filtered through human culture and understanding of God's revelation.

Agree or disagree.

Jesus personally told me that the bible was hiswritten Word. The only way one can understand the Word so as to come to knowGod is to have Jesus/Holy Spirit teach him or her.

Man has chosen, on the mostpart, to trust man’s understanding of the written Word. That has gotten man lost.

Your attack on the Bible is clearly noted.

I have read many of your posts and have concluded that you have extreme contempt for the Bible, God's Word.

Wow, really? I read it all the time - I think about it all the time - in fact, it has motivated me to work with the poor and enriched my relationship with Jesus. Are you getting my desire to think independently about the Bible confused with contempt?

I think you pick the parts you like to believe. Aren't you the one who said eternity in Hell is God's mercy?

Like I said at the beginning of this thread - every word of the Bible is supposed to be there. Hell is God's mercy for the unredeemed -yes. So how am I showing contempt for the Bible?

I believe the Bible needs to be interpreted through the lenses of the characteristics we know about God.

You mean when you disagree with God?

Interpreting the scriptures in a compassionate way is not disagreeing with God. Are you going to answer any of my questions?

I've seen MANY MANY MANY who disagree with God use the same tactic that you use. Got questions? Ask.

I asked what is the reason you believe I am showing contempt towards the Bible? How am I disagreeing with God? I am not denying Hell....or anything other truth in the Bible - I am simply disagreeing with the intentions people place on God for doing what He does.

I pretty much answered most of that. From reading your many posts I have come to the conclusion that you don't believe much of the Bible at all. Those who end up in Hell will heartily disagree with you about it being God's mercy.

Well, I heartily disagree with your generalization. As far as Hell being a mercy - I am hardly the first person to suggest this theory, nor is it a salvation issue. It is speculation that preserves God's mercy - I see nothing wrong with it.

That is truly sad. The fact is that Hell is real and God can do whatever He chooses. He doesn't have to ask permission.

Ah so whatever God chooses to do makes it moral?

I agree that Hell is real.

Whatever He does is right whether sinful men believe it is moral or not, I.E. drowning everyone on Earth but 8, including children.

Now that is truly sad. Eternity with a vengeful, wrathful god doesn't sound much better than Hell to me. In fact, I want no part of eternity with a god that commands his sinful creation to turn the other cheek, while he takes his wrath out on his enemies. My God is characterized as merciful and just.
