@Wrangler:
As I understand blasphemy, it is merely attributing characteristics to God. So, for instance, when Jesus said God was good, that constitutes blasphemy. Others use the term to attack one presuming God-like attributes. There is a famous movie with Alec Baldwin where in the opening scene, he spelled out his surgical credentials, ending with the claim that he is God. Perhaps you mean that opposing the doctrine of the trinity is heresy?

Pastor Steve Cioccolanti advised Christians to reserve the term heresy to only a teaching that prevents one from being saved. Thoughts?

"In terms of explicit teachings of the Bible, please direct me to that verse that says something to the effect that The nature of God is a trinity - consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit -and if you do not believe this, you cannot be saved. Thanks!
Matthew 28:19 [/QUOTE]

Matthew 28:19 says NOTHING about the nature of God whatsoever! Jesus could have said to baptize in the name of Moe, Larry and Curly. Saying this does not mean they are God OR believing they are God is a requirement to salvation.

How would you interpret this comment:
I am a non-denominational Christian, my heretic friend.
Yes, I despise the doctrine of the trinity (notice the lower case, I couldn't find devil horns).

There are 3 basic elements to the comment:
  1. An exchange among friends, brothers in Christ.
  2. Some of their doctrinal beliefs are contrary to one another. (Presumably why 'heretic' term was invoked)
  3. A personal feeling expressed about one of those contrary doctrinal beliefs.
There is a 300-page thread on OSAS. Although I would not say I despise OSAS, it is clearly a highly disputed doctrine. I don't know the context of why the word 'heretic' was invoked but I certainly agree with the sentiment about the trinity whole heartedly. Let me ask you this question; what is the higher priority for a Christ follower:
A. Follow Jesus?
B. Believe in the trinity?

Post #389 here. Invincible ignorance is what keeps the poster from committing the unpardonable sin.

Would someone please explain to me why diabolical content like this is allowed (reports go ignored for 3 days)?
Or is it only allowed when Catholics are relentlessly attacked by anti-trinitarians who disregard the rules?
I await a relativistic excuse.

There is much anti Trinitarian stuff that is allowed on this "christian" website, where they are allowed to continue to blaspheme The Great God of the Holy Bible, Who is eternally Trinity. They are given a platform here to mock, rubbish, and degrade the God of the Bible. All done without any sanction of this "christian" board!!!

Thankfully trinitarianism, Christian. Not the same thing.

Anyone who deines the Teaching of the Holy Trinity, CANNOT EVER get to heaven

From the pile of other things not explicitly in Scripture ...

And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition.

For over 300 years the Christian Church had not yet formulated a doctrine on the nature of the Godhead. There is good reason for this... The scriptures themselves are silent on the matter. Then along comes a pagan emperor who wants to unite the kingdom politically, using his faked conversion as a warrant for his involvement. The debate between Arius and Alexander escalated and divided the empire so Constantine was determined to solve the dispute. In other words, it was only by the involvement of the state power that the trinitarianism doctrine was made the Orthodox belief of Christianity. The Catholic Church then adopted the formula, embellishing it at later councils, then spring the state, Theodosius, to persecute anyone who disagreed with it. None of this has anything whatsoever to do with inspiration or scripture. The "consubstantial" nature of the relationship between Father and Son was purely a man made invention with no scriptural backing at all.
Arius, from the very few documents we have that weren't destroyed by Theodosius, believed in 3 heavenly brings comprising the Godhead. His objection to the trinitarianism formula was based on the nature of how those three members were in union. Alexander and those bishops which supported him, had to reach outside of scripture in order to create the Nicene Creed.
as it is a teaching from the devil himself!
Considering the role played by the pagan emperor in the development and enforcement of the doctrine, you may well be correct.

The statement addresses disagreements and various levels of Christian maturity, I understand all that. But the statement does not address arrogant blasphemy, which should not be tolerated in a supposedly trinitarian forum. Blasphemy is not mere disagreement, it is not discussion, it is blasphemy and should not be tolerated. Period. Jesus and St. Paul would have DNB banned.

It's not just DNB blaspheming the Trinity, the goading and harassing by the SDA cult members is endless, and reports go ignored. Appeals to have the thread closed go ignored. SDA is an anti-trinitarian hate cult, and they should not be exempt from the rules, but obviously they are. The responsibility for allowing anti-Christian hate speech (which further contributes to the decline of civilization) rests with you.

Since when is SDA non trinitarian?

The Christian definition of heresy involves denying the virgin birth, sinless life, death for our sins on a cross, or resurrection from the dead, of Jesus the Christ.

As a trinitarian, I point out that belief for salvation doesn’t require correct understanding of the trinity, nor even demand knowing that Jesus is God the Logos, only belief that Jesus is Gods son.

I would agree with Curtis that non-belief in Trinity or non-belief that Jesus is God would not necessarily mean someone is not saved.

Non-Trinnies and Not-Godders are wrong as all get-out, but I would stop short of calling them hairy-ticks in some cases.

Heresy is an insufficient belief in the nature(s), person, pre-existence and full deity of Christ, imo.

Fortunately for all of us, men do not make the final judgment on us!
