James Wesley was largely responsible for the formation of the Methodist Church, a fairly large denomination, and that split occured primarily over the argument of man's "free will" against Martin Luther's concept of the bondage of the will. These concepts are crucial to understanding the nature of election and predestination, and foundational to the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints. In the briefest of summaries, the saints persevere because God makes them to persevere as an evidence of their salvation, they aren't saved by their perseverance. Salvation is entirely of God, we contribute nothing but our bodies.

Yes, nice quotes, but if you've carefully studied the prophets and the book of the Revelation, its pretty clear that the majority of the world's population rejects Christ, that the world just gets darker and more ungodly right up to the resurrection of the last two witnesses and martyrs, and that all who offend will be removed by the Holy angels at Christ's return. The world will get darker as the power of the Holy people is diminished and this because of unbelief in the word. There's a saying that "it always gets darkest before the dawn", but that saying has a spiritual origin because it isn't physically true (predawn is not exceptionally dark.) That's an effect of scripture upon western culture.

The Biblical terminology for the NT Christian is that God has made them a new person. The New Man. A New Creation. Having been born of God. Not just a new heart. @Ferris Bueller picks that up from the OT as he constantly endeavors to have people think of the New Testament Christian in a legalistic First Covenant way.

Your willful sins committed before you were saved are forgiven when you get saved. It's when you commit willful sins after you are saved that you're treading some dangerous territory. Unrepentant, willful sin is the sign of an unbeliever, not e the believer.

To my perception there's a lot of "plundering " going on through these contentious forums. The way of the world is to rise above others, by cutting them down. This isn't His way and far from it, but pride is a huge and abominable sin.

Just pray for understanding each time you open the scripture and pray for wisdom in applying it. These are prayers that God always responds to in the affirmative and fellowship with the Lord in study is always pleasant and good.

I pray daily. In fact, I've burnt the midnight oil, so to speak, many, many times in studying God's word.

Step back, count to 10, do whatever you need to do to avoid doing damage to your own testimony or to avoid tempting a brother to sin. Absolutely none of us will have a perfect understanding until we're renewed in the resurrection and all of us who believe serve the same master, even when we're doctrinally confused or doubting the plain meaning of scripture because of personal experience. Please, let love rule. Love is the power to overcome, not contention and strife in the house. Peace, brother, we don't have to agree on everything, we only need to be confident in our relationship with Christ, keep the faith, and love the brethren. The last is by far the most difficult because sin is present wherever we go, but where sin abounds in the church, so too grace abounds all the more.

Yes, I think I have a while back. I try to stay within the boundaries of what the Bible says we can do and that's consider a person unsaved. And you know what Jesus says to do when that happens.
