but notice something else as well. What the army, and his mocking elder brothers could not see about this skinny shepherd boy, was how God had prepared him for this day.

1 Samuel 17:33-37 NKJV — And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, “I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. “Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”

How did God train David? With blessing? Or battle? A lion, a bear, on the back side of the wilderness, God prepared David for the day God's victory over a mocker would come through David's hands....and He prepared him by by sending him enemies, a lion and a bear, to practice on.

would David have known the Lord would empower his victory over Goliath, if he had not already faced down the lion and the bear? We don't know for sure. The Bible doesn't directly speak to that, but....I think not.

Have you ever wondered, when and how this "judgement of principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness (through YOUR hands) will take place?

Isn't it WONDERFUL.... MARVELLOUS... that whatever satan means for harm... God uses for good????
Suffering is something that so many Christians refuse to embrace... they deny it.. run from it... try to
name it and claim it GONE... but they do not understand that God uses suffering to STRENGTHEN us.

Addy, I think another good lesson is that God never sends enemies against us, that are too big for us to defeat. ;)
That is absolutely CORRECT.... and... and each and every time we go through a difficult trial... we get stronger... we get built up in Faith when we discover that HE did NOT abandon or forsake us... This is a lovely conversation... Blessings to all...

Psalm 18:33-39 NKJV — He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your right hand has held me up,
Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me,
So my feet did not slip. I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them;
Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. I have wounded them,
So that they could not rise;
They have fallen under my feet. For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
