Entering the rest of God is; ironically written in the same chapter as dividing soul and spirit. We should bring out at this point "the rest" of God is a person. It is the person of Christ' in you. 'Christ in you is the rest,'

Scripture says it is; 'Christ in you' is the answer. Not just Jesus Christ, you must have him for life to be answered, and you must have him in you. You can celebrate him on the cross every year but until he is in you there will be no answer for life, 'he is the life - he is the rest.'

what does that mean to a believer? It means dividing up soul and spirit will be necessary for "the rest." That will bring up another question? how do I divide soul and spirit. Let me answer by giving what was my understanding at the time. I didn't know the difference between soul and spirit, other than scripture saying "there is a difference," that is all I could say about soul and spirit, and had not had any teaching on it practically other than someone may mention it in a study or it just came out in conversation. But what I want to say is; I wasn't a Christian long when that interest hit me - I wanted to know what scripture was saying about soul and spirit. You could read where it said "dividing soul and spirit" - but that was it, that was as far as I could go. But I searched for it - that and other things. I searched the scriptures for, different things as a student of the scriptures should - but dividing soul and spirit seemed to always come to the forefront of what I was looking for and doing in the scriptures. It was like I could never put my finger on it - just wasn't there. I could get close and reference study it out, by searching the scriptures, I couldn't not get it to line up.

This is my testimony on coming to divide soul and spirit. Some years later, probably 8-9 years later I came to see and understand 'Christ as our life.' A moment when - like Paul said in Galatians - when it pleased God to reveal his Son in me. I had what I see now as a revelation of the indwelling Christ. The Christ in me was revealed to me - as the only life of the believer. Now I'm saying that for several reasons but the main reason is; the scriptures that I had in me - what I knew about the scriptures began to weave together. And they (the scriptures) begin to open up like never before as a believer. When they come to see (a believer) Christ in them (in the scriptures) it unlocks the things of God. It is your understanding as well that unlockes; "Paul said the eyes of your understanding be enlightened that you may know" - but it has everything to do with how you read your bible and come to know the scriptures. and here it is the key to the scriptures. Paul said it can only happen by:

"the revelation of Jesus Christ"

11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. - Galatians 1:11-12.

The revelation of Jesus Christ" should be underlined in your Bible and stay there until you see what Paul was saying by the Spirit. Every believer should have a revelation of Jesus Christ.

How do we know that? God is a Spirit, these are spiritual matters and the only way to know them is by the Spirit.

Soul cannot accept the things of God nor can it know them. How can we know <Only By The Spirit> The soul of man will reject the thing's of God simply because it cannot know them. There is that thing in man whereby you shall know there is a knower - the heart of hearts the - the depth of your being.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
4 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. - 1 Corinthians 2:9-14.

So what is revelation for a believer - revelation is the Spirit using revelation to give to a believer what they cannot get by soul. That's why we use the term "in a package you will not be looking for" because the soul of man does not even know they exist (the things of God). Remember the soul is everything touch - taste - hear - speak - and see, as the scriptures said. All gates - into the soul of man. The eyes are the windows to the soul - what you hear, goes into your soul - and so on. Your soul is: 'the mind will and intellect - emotions.'

Soul is good but it cannot accept the things of God - not on its own. It will need a revelation. Paul used the perfect wording calling it "the revelation of Jesus Christ." It is not 'a' revelation or just a-nother revelation - no it is THE revelation. What is revealed is the person of Christ - The Son. When it pleased God Paul said to reveal his Son in me. Trust the scriptures 'for in them you think you have eternal life.'

For they (the scriptures); only speak of him. When you search the scriptures look for him who is only life - the only life of the crucified believer.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. - John 5:39.

@soul man Another verse comes to mind also: Psalm 46.10: "Be still, and know that I am God".
