The Priests said the forgiveness is through sacrificeJoh 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
Points to note:
Rev 5:6-7
- The lamb was a sacrificial animal among the Jews. God had taught His chosen people to slay a lamb and to sprinkle its blood as a sacrifice.
- The lamb was killed as a substitute and its blood shed so that sins might be forgiven.
- However, the blood of the lambs slain during the OT period did not put away sin.
- Those lambs were pictures or types, pointing forward to the fact that God would one day provide a Lamb who would actually take away the sin.
- All down through the years, godly Jews had waited for the coming of this Lamb.
- Now at last the time had come, and John the Baptist triumphantly announced the arrival of the true Lamb of God.
- Whereas the Jewish sacrifices as a type were intended for one nation only, the fulfillment of the type is intended for all nations.
(6) And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
(7) Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
Points to ponder:
Rev 5:11-14
- The power of the Lamb
- The riches of the Lamb
- The wisdom of the Lamb
- The strength of the Lamb
- The honor of the Lamb
- The glory of the Lamb
- The blessing of the Lamb
(11) Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,
(12) saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
(13) And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"
(14) Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
A Point to be aware of:
Without the shedding of the precious blood of the Lamb there would be no salvation for anyone, either now or in the Judgment to come !!!

John the Baptist said forgiveness is by repentance and baptism...no slain lambs needed
Jesus forgave before he was asked....nothing needed....even before people repented eg, the woman caught in adultery, the paralytic lowered through the roof, the wayward son forgiven by the father of the prodigal with a party thrown in.
Could it be that God revealed his nature in becoming a man without revenge....or does love stop at some point?....and if it does, what does that say about God? Wouldn't Lucifer's claims be justified if love stopped somewhere? ....but Jesus loved to the point of giving his life....in other words, he would rather die than have his wayward children die.
