Okay... I have 2 curious questions that may seem odd. Idk if I'll have any takers. lol

1.What is your earliest memory?

2. Do you remember the layout of the home your family lived in when you were 1 yr old?

I don’t have many memories from my younger childhood, some times I remember glimpses of memories, but not much at all. My twin brother remembers a lot. Definitely don’t have any memories from my first few years x

Wow, I'm finding more and more people who have no childhood memories. I don't think it's supposed to be that way.

I remember every place my family lived ....like facts in my head. Idk why even as a child, I knew.

But I've always remembered the layout of the home my family lived in when I was a year old. I told my mom what I remembered and she said it was accurate. I always remembered at least the bedroom my sister and I shared ....twin beds on either side of a window with a dresser in front of it. I remember it bc my maternal grandmother was staying with us and she was sleeping in my bed, while I shared my sister's bed with her. But this night, there were thunderstorms and I was afraid, so my grandmother got me in with her. And I always remembered her feeding me pecans while we lived there ...and her taking me by the hand to go pick persimmons from a neighbor's yard. :) Oddly enough, though, the more detailed layout came back to me in a nightmare (concerning a trauma) at age 14 after I was in foster care. My mother confirmed what I saw in my dream was accurate.

@Rita I go back to the 60s...some intense memories, some of the background as understood then was vague...

My earliest memory encompasses both, actually. I remember the bathroom in our house in Endicott, NY had diamond-shaped tiles on the shower wall. I have no idea what my crib was doing in the bathroom. I might've been maybe 2 years old.
[Edit] I remember my Mom was vacuuming and the hum of the vacuum cleaner was making me sleepy. She probably just wanted to vacuum under the crib.

A slightly later memory of the same house is of my daddy laying down linoleum tiles in what would become us kids' playroom. Daddy was telling me not to step in this black-tar adhesive he'd laid down. I don't remember if I obeyed; I do remember that Daddy painted himself into a corner with the tar. :)

Man, we moved out of that house back in '65. I've never been back to Endicott.

@Pearl We all have regrets but can learn from them.

EBENEZER - 'Hitherto hath the LORD helped us' (1 Samuel 7.12)

Don't get me wrong farouk it's not something I regret - I was only two - but it's probably my first memory although I have many others form when i was very young too.

My earliest memory was maybe 1 - 1.5 years, from the back porch, looking at the snowy back yard. And I only remember the small framed porch.

Much love!

@marks I remember some words from Ronald Reagan, about his memories having been assisted by the memories of others. Sometimes memories are real, indeed; sometimes other people given them so much context that what one seems to remember is sometimes helped by the context that others give them....
