As regards the parlor in the rough area that you and your wife went to, I realize that essentially it's the inspected cleanliness of the parlor inside that counts, rather than the outside, of course...
Although you could tell it was a re-purposed warehouse, the insides were surprisingly clean.

Well, couldn't the guy just have removed his rings in order to avoid being expelled from the army? :) or maybe he chose to quit.....
Believe me, his parents had THAT discussion with him.

He didn’t get expelled. After he got his commission, he served his two years and got out. He now runs a half-way house for ex-cons getting out of prison. He had a different calling, and he knew it.

The time is now here @farouk

My friend made this finally

PS: @MatthewG Interesting to see his Star of David shoulder tattoo.

Remarkable that he didn't even have any tattoos before he was 50....

It was interesting to note that.

He said he use to look down on people with tattoos and if that was the case many people probably still do that now today. A lot of people try to justify also by scripture what is interesting though Jesus himself had a tattoo, believe it said King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, in the Bible somewhere.

Let me show you what I'd like...but I'll never do this, mainly because of my age.

@GodsGrace

Yes, and it's become a very womanly thing to do. Like you said also:

almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types.

It does also leave the door wide open for a lot of scope and potential for faith based designs. (I'm sure @MatthewG and @Lambano agree also.)

(But you must know about you, of course.)

@GodsGrace I know you've also said about not getting one after all because of the stage of life you say you are at; well, fine.

Leaving that aside, your photo of the tribal armband shows how upper arm is very widely desired as a placement by women who like a tribal style design that goes right round. Seems like there is something very special about tribal style.

Lower arm/wrist is also very popular; my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; all the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed whom I have spoken seem to have had them done for evangelistic reasons.

But I guess what draws you to tattoos is chiefly the aesthetic side, maybe?

@MatthewG I think it's becoming increasingly difficult to do so; the fact is that so many ppl - Godly ppl, professional ppl, etc. - have them.

it is becoming a norm with health professionals...It is becoming a tool people are using to let others identify their faith.

Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor .. I also agree that it makes a statement of freedom in Christ.

I would be hard-pressed to come up with more than a handful of names of my friends who DON'T have at least one tattoo--and we are all suburban homeschooling moms, ages ranging from early-30s to mid-50s, living in conservative North Texas.

These days ppl seem to go ahead and have it done confidently; and potentially it can then become a talking point if they wish for whatever reason; of which faith based reasons are widespread, depending on the design.

Yes, those are the opinions of their thoughts.

However that doesn’t make them (people who look down on people for tattoos) not exist, despite whatever someone does say.

I like to stick in truth, and the concept that being the reality of darkness still residing in peoples flesh, or soul.

@MatthewG BTW, I saw that the guy in the interesting video that you posted didn't get his first tattoo until age 50 and now he had several.

Various posts from ppl show that it's indeed not only the very young than get them.

My son had 7 or 8 tattoos before I even thought about it. ...At 46 mind you.... Those who get scripture must be overjoyed.

One of the churches I go to has three quite elderly women, all widows, who recently went out and got themselves tattoos. .. There was no doubt they were all first tattoos. All three of them went out and got them together.

(I think Rita said she was 50 when she had it done.)

But it's not the right time to have it done until you are "ready", right?

For some ppl it takes a lot of years to become "ready'...

@FluffyYellowDuck Glad she is doing well.

(I guess if she's not really into ink it won't matter to her whether the parlors in her area are good or not. Then, again, it can be instructive and interesting to look at a parlor's portfolio artwork with no obligation.)

It's good to keep in touch, especially at Christmas; I'm sure parents value this very much; and good for grandchildren to have contact with grandparents also, if only on the 'phone, etc.
