Christians are terrified of the metaverse

I love it when they decide what we're afraid of without really asking what we're afraid of.

Vice seems more afraid of Metaverse than Christians, which should probably tell us something.

(Disclaimer: I don't use Facebook because I don't trust Facebook.)

This, seems to me like a VR version of Second Life, but with your friends.

Never see anyone in real life again, while you simultaneously gradually train your brain to no longer be attracted to normal living people, but instead promiscuous pink cartoon cat avatars.

That's what I think will happen.

Movies, Radios, Electric guitars, and TV were all promptly banned by some Christian parents back when they first arrived. Babylon you see.

Anything that dominates, intimidates, manipulates, or seduces dims the light of the Gospel and quenches the Holy Spirit.

How to live Godly amongst the Ungodly???

Anyone?

As stupid as I thought that once was, now through trial and error, I agree with most of it. I'm okay with a few things here and there, but I miss being free from all of it.

Godly amongst ungodly ...

Psalm 1

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."

In other words, I would say, don't do as the others would do. We were called to be set apart and holy, as He is holy.

I don’t have any social media accounts but this new version of Facebook will probably attract some poor souls who have some type of addiction or another and where they will try to busy themselves into this world while trying to avoid their root problems.
God have mercy.

This a great topic, something for all to consider.

You see...if mankind can make a world out of light and energy, there can be no argument that what God has done by similar means, is impossible. Not only is it possible, but mankind can now kinda do it. It's like mankind is getting its kindergarten lesson on God. Which of course it needs. Sad but true.

I recently sort of gave up facebook, but I still get on to see how my friends and family are doing. My brother's into vr games. I don't play games anymore and can't do vr as it is too life like and I feel it could damage a persons nervous system or give them premature heart attacks.

I don’t believe it is only Christians ……before my son came to faith earlier in the year we often use to talk about what they wanted to do with virtual reality. Having watched an episode of ‘ Black Mirror ‘ which plays out the very scenario of this and what it could lead to….both of us decided we didn’t want anything to do with it. I am sure there may be some positives, but there are enough issues with social media to flag up warning signs if it progresses to another level.

Which is why we should fear it. And I don't mean 'fear' in the sense of being scared. But rather in the sense of nervously anticipating disaster, not for oneself, but for others.

In hindsight they were right.

What God gave us was reality, and the power through Christ to cope with it, even change our own reality to harmonize with God's will.
What Zuckerberg and friends are doing is not giving us a glimpse of God, but of Satan...an alternative false 'virtual' reality to hypnotize the world into discarding God's reality with a world that rejects Him, and the gospel.

It is God and the kingdom of God that is reality. To the contrary, He through us out--and His kingdom is not of this world.

It is not the creation that is real, but the Creator.

Threw? Threw us out... Of what, where?
"Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life." Genesis 3:22-24
Real enough that I don't need my imagination to identify with it.
How is it that having been created in His image, you do not know that you are only an image? And being made of the same elements, how then do you not also know that the world is also only an image?

I heard this said recently and not by a Christian, but Russel Brand- who is surprisingly right on a lot of things! except religion. he also said it was an alternative escape from something you're not happy with. 300 scientists studying it because they don't believe it meets scientific health standards. vice thinks it is to collect data for facial recognition, because they can't on the Facebook platform

Threw us out of the garden yes. Into the world over which Satan had assumed dominion in Adams place. The garden was still there however, one could see it off he ventured close enough, just wasn't allowed entry. At some stage at least a party of it was taken into heaven as the tree of life is now there within the city of Jerusalem awaiting it's return as our life giver. You over spiritualize everything possibly to the detriment of missing the real message. Life has it's physical component. Jesus is a physical flesh and blood being, and in the resurrection we will be like Him. The scriptures I don't see as all allegory and mystery and double meaning. Some of it... Most of it is simple truth in real time and to be understood as it reads. Not all, but most.

God "is perfect" and He "is spirit."

He is the measure of what is too spiritual--not you. Do you not get that? Do you hear yourself? In one sentence you compliment me and also put God down. Wow! Amazing!

As for the rest of what you said...ya, you're off by more than a little there too.

We could discuss it, but I am not sure I really want to do so with someone who is against the spiritual nature of God. Let me know if you have a change of heart.
