... even the most distant person from God knows about the Big Ten (but how many know the particulars of God's law embodied in Moses' writings?).
You continue to make very salient points. :)

If God had intended them to be forgotten, maybe they'd be as obscure as the Mosaic/Ceremonial Laws.

It appears that your major exception to the OP is who it applies to. So, you have no problem with the assertion that the 10 Commandments should still by obeyed by Israel, you're just of the opinion that Israel are the physical Jews.
No, I said they were written first for Israel, they failed to keep them, and Christ fulfilled them. Christ brought the gospel first to the Jews and then spread it to the gentiles. Now it isn't obsolete. It remains there for all to be aware of what sin is. The Law was a pedagogue. We don't need one anymore. We need Grace, forgiveness. The Law can't save us, only Jesus can. THE LAW OF LOVE is spiritual. The OT law works on thr members if your Flesh. This is the battle going between spirit and flesh.

So you guys have pooled your minds and still do not get it. I guess I could say, "Welcome to the proud crowd." LOL
People have a tendency to study like peeling an apple. Only knowing that thin little bit.

Remember the Y2K scare....the end of time....the return of Christ....expected 2000 years after Christ's birth. LOL

If is common knowledge that the Gregorian Calendar is about 5 to 6 years off. How did Christians miss this? It is how they study.

We know that Herod the Great died in March of 4BC. We know what he died of. We know of the name and history of his successor. Josephus records that Herod died between an eclipse of the Moon (usually taken to be that of 4 BC March 12-13)

Now for the story of the Christ's birth and him being back home on Nazareth and the Magi to going to his home and their journey to Egypt and the murder of innocents....this all has to happen before his death, probably before he became ill.

So people should have calculated the time to be 1994-1995, but people do not study that deep.

There is only one set of Laws that God called the Ten Commandments. There is only one set of Ten Commandments that God said, Be sure to observe what I command you this day...

There is only one set of Ten Commandments that God said, Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. And they are not in chapter 20 of Exodus.

There is only one set of Ten Commandments that God told Moses to write on the two Tablets of the Testimony.

So he (Moses) wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

And you guys are not even discussing the actual Ten Commandments.

I see this over and over again....you do not study the Bible as much as popular beliefs.
I've seen you talking about this for a while now, like you hold a treasure that you are keeping close to the vest.

So, when do we get the big reveal?

When do we find out what the REAL 10 Commandments are?

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:1-3)

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” (Exodus 20:8-11)

The Apostle John on the isle of Patmos wrote God's revelations on the Sabbath day.
“I was in the spirit on the Lord’s Day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.” (Revelation 1:10)

Saturday is the 7th day.

Spiritual Israel are God's Children; NOT any physical/fleshly race - for "...they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God:.."
Romans 9:8
If you read the whole context of scripture you see it was not all the seed of Abraham that the promise went to, but Isaac's seed. He loved Jacob but hated Esau. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy." He chooses those who will be saved. Not all believed in Jesus when He came. Not all believe now. Branches were cut off so the gentiles could be grafted into the Vine. The ELECT were chosen before the foundation of the world and written into the Book of Life before any of us were born.

Did His disciples keep the sabbath by picking ears of corn on the sabbath day? No, they did not.

Jesus did not defend them by saying they did not profane the sabbath, but rather defended by how they were guiltless for profaning the sabbath by testifying One greater than the Temple was here.
They were walking with God on the Sabbath day. Is that not what we are supposed to do?

They were spending valuable time with the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth on HIS Holy Day? The very day itself belongs to HIM.
Isaiah 58:13

They were hungry, He led them through a corn field; ... HIS corn field.
"...His disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.” (Matthew 12:1).

When the Pharisees began to make accusations, Jesus told them 'there is one here who is greater than the Temple itself.' The Temple was considered to be one of the greatest things in existence; it was the house of God. But standing in their presence was God Himself.

They did no wrong and the Lord God Almighty said so.

In my opinion, that's a wrap.

It's not about saving, it's about defining sin - just as Paul articulated in Romans 7.

What you are essentially saying in this post, whether you mean to be or not, is that we can't really sin anymore.

That just isn't true.

And that's a big part of the reason the 10 Commandments will not expire until this world is wiped away. Until sin and death are gone.

This is no mystery! All you have to do is ask. But I am sure you have heard the saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

Why spend all this time studying the Bible if you do not know how. I am shaking your tree....learn how! And learn how not to study the Bible.....and that is just as important.

The story of the Ten Commandments.....Exodus 34:10-28

Now you got to figure out what the 10 laws given in Chapter 20 are all about. A clue, besides the 10 rudimentary morals spoken by God from Mt. Sinai, what was that event about. And besides the Laws God would speak....what was that event about.....Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

That's not what the verse is saying at all.
The ELECT were chosen before the foundation of the world and written into the Book of Life before any of us were born.
Maybe so, but they can also be blotted out of the Book.
Revelation 3:5

Why is that significant? Because it means that sin is still a factor. And if sin is still a factor, then sin's inseparable definition, the 10 Commandments, are still a viable factor.

I'll re-post my answer to that, complete with scripture to prove my points.

Who are the 10 Commandments written to?
They are written to all God's Children.

Can you explain what Luke was reporting about here in the early church in Acts?

Acts 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved......4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them. 5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. 6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. 12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. 13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: 14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, 16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. 18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. 19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Why didn't they say the Gentiles were to keep the sabbath then in verse 20? Is it because of how the Jews were doing it to be saved when they are saved?

I believe the majority of Christians today believe as you do. This is not a popular Truth of the Bible.

Most have been taught, and easily convinced, of OSAS and no 10 Commandments.
Its the only truth

If you keep the whole law yet stumble in on area your guilty.

The 10 commands are active, break one your done.

The jews did not get this fact, it appears you have not either

The Sabbath day was established long before Abraham. And before there were a people called, Jews.

If that were true, then everybody would be keeping the sabbath, Gentiles & Jews alike, that there would be no need for that commandment.

But the keeping of the sabbath was for the Jews as His chosen people to get saved by.

I couldn't see any relevance to the question in post #92
You're trying to make the case that the Commandments can't be Forever if they didn't exist prior to Creation.

I gave you an alternative scenario that was just as effective. God intended them to be observed for a minimum of 35,000 years.

Now, think up another rebuttal.

They're of God. One might then answer, yes.
could it be they were given because men had a confused sense of right and wrong....for instance, in a perfect situation where harmony existed why would one need laws like don't steal, don't kill, don't be unfaithful etc?

God's first commandment was given to Adam and Eve and before their fall.
It would make sense after the fall God would institute moral and spiritual frameworks in order to help humanity navigate this world now that they knew right from wrong. And still, he reiterated the Sabbath day that we would never be far from him.

That's how I see it.
