When we first moved to North Carolina, we had a freak snowstorm that dumped 19 inches of snow on us. We didn't have enough snow removal equipment to handle it, so the state government was pressing road graders and front loaders into service as snowplows. It shut us down for 2 weeks.

My wife comes from northern Ohio where you get the first snow by Thanksgiving and it doesn't melt until Easter.

Oh yes, we have had it in October and one mothers day too! And mom's day is in May! That was a really long time ago but I remember it well.
