You forgot something:

Luk 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Luk 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

So will fire be used on the second coming or water? The answer is neither. A form of destruction will happen, but not water or fire but in the form of a symbolic sword as well as 7 vials. The sword deals with the army and leadership and the vials punish the civilians. Some will die but most will survive.


All is being said is that a group will be saved by being taken to safety while the rest suffer various forms of wrath.

That's not the second coming. There are many "days of the Lord". That day of the Lord is the day of the New Heaven and new Earth, which is LONG after the second coming.
