MY FOREVER FRIEND

I have a friend who walks beside me
On this path that is my life.
I know he will protect and guide me;
Comfort me in times of strife.
He is my rock; he is my fortress,
He is my king, my all in all.
He is my shield, he is my refuge;
He will catch me when I fall.

When my strength is all but gone,
And I feel I can’t go on,
He reaches out and takes my hand;
He lifts me from the searing sand
And carries me a while.

Until my spirit’s been restored
My Jesus, my redeemer Lord
Holds me close against his breast;
In him my weary soul finds rest.

And when he knows I’ll stand secure
He sets me on my feet once more.
I turn to look into his face,
Awed by his power, love and grace;
And regaining strength with every stride
I continue walking by his side
Refreshed.

psalm 23 the Lord is my shepherd!
He restoreth my soul!

Mary had a little lamb! Jn 1:29
Yes I know that nursery rhyme, it was inspired by Mary Sawyer, who lived in Sterling, Massachusetts, in the 1800s, reports the New England Historical Society. Mary took the young animal under her care after the poor thing was rejected by her sheep mother on the family’s farm. After nursing her unusual pet to good health, the lamb became Mary’s shadow and, indeed, “everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go.” but I don't understand why you have quoted it here. her are the verses in full as you're interested.

Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow,
And every where that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go ;
He followed her to school one day—
That was against the rule,
It made the children laugh and play,
To see a lamb at school.

And so the Teacher turned him out,
But still he lingered near,
And waited patiently about,
Till Mary did appear ;
And then he ran to her, and laid
His head upon her arm,
As if he said—‘ I’m not afraid—
You’ll keep me from all harm.’

‘ What makes the lamb love Mary so ?’
The eager children cry—
‘ O, Mary loves the lamb, you know,’
The Teacher did reply ;—
‘ And you each gentle animal
In confidence may bind,
And make them follow at your call,
If you are always kind.’

I was referring to Jesus and Mary!
I knew that but that isn't what the rhyme is about. I always thought it was about Queen Mary Tudor until I looked it up. She was the Catholic queen who persecuted those not of her faith which earned her the name of Bloody Mary.

I am wearing my cross today but it is different from your cross/crucifix as it is an empty cross which is a sign of Jesus risen from the dead through the power of God.

Oh blood of Christ a single drop for sinners spilt can purge the entire world from all it guilt!

mph holy face surrounded by crown of piercing thorn, oh bleeding head so wounded reviled and put to scorn, oh holy wounds that are medicine for our souls!

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

excellent video on meditation on all the points and considerations of the passion of Jesus Christ on the cross of salvation!

I don't praise Jesus being crucified by the Romans and Jews of the time. Being a friend to Christ means we want to have him with us. And the killing of Jesus was to rid him from their presence.

In that crucifixion, Jesus provided the atonement. Something he provided on his own without any help. Which is what he reflected in the bible in John 10:18. That we can praise him for.

Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, (graciously hear us, O Lord.)
Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, (have mercy on us.)
Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy Blood. (And made us, for our God, a kingdom.)

Let us pray.

Almighty and eternal God, Thou hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son the Redeemer of the world and willed to be appeased by His Blood. Grant, we beg of Thee, that we may worthily adore this price of our salvation and through its power be safeguarded from the evils of the present life so that we may rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord. (Amen.)

a litany is an ancient form of prayer in the early church

I don't meditate. I used to but found it ineffective. I do pray though, but not too much as I feel my time would be better spent in service to the Lord. And I think if I had a prayer it would be that God save me, by resurrecting me and accepting me into heaven, washing my soul clean of sin.

I'm not meaning to offend you but I seriously would like to know why the Catholic cross bears the tortured body of our dear Lord Jesus rather than the empty cross which is a symbol God's mighty power in raising him from death. His death freed us from sin but his resurrection gives us life.

I don't mean to offend either, but I was wondering something similar.

Gracious Father God, Papa, Daddy, I thank you for you son Jesus and the work he did as he hung in agony we can't imagine on that cross of execution. Thank you for his faithful obedience and thank you that he loved us humans who he created so much that he took our punishment upon himself.
And I thank you that through your mighty power he was raised to life to be with us forever, in our hearts and minds, in the storms of our lives and through the happier times too. Thank you.
