@Christophany So does he maybe have any siblings with tattoos? (any of them faith based in design?)

It's what they do now at that age, including the young women....
I'm not a tatoo person at all its never been my thing but so many people and friends I know have them. All four of my kids have at-least 1 on them somewhere. My 2 boys have the most and girls have 1 but you really can't see them.

@Christophany All 4 of them; so the girls did it, too...I reckon you weren't really surprised that they would.

Nowadays it's done with such social confidence that a lot of younger Christians especially - not least women - seem to avail themselves of faith based ink which does work as a conversation-starting talking point with ppl.

@Christophany PS: Maybe Mrs. Christophany wasn't really surprised either that your daughters did it too....?

(I saw a quote about just how prevalent tattoos are among young ppl in the Bible Belt now.)

@Christophany PS: I just saw this quote from your Sean McDowell site, Sean McDowell | Home :

Nearly 4 in 10 Millennials have a tattoo, roughly 50% have 2 to 5 tattoos, and 18% have 6 or more.12 In her book GENERATION ME, sociologist Jean Twenge wrote, “Tattoos are a medium for self-expression and the communication of individuality. They fit the generational trend perfectly: they are outward expressions of the inner self. They allow you to be different and unique. It’s so important to be an individual, and to communicate that fact to others, that young people routinely tattoo it onto their skin.”

So really it's not surprising they all did it, right? :)

Hi @L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d

It it something that is availed of now by so many ppl. Here are two quotes:

An academic quote, from seanmcdowell dot org:

A quote from someone from the Bible Belt:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

Since it seems that tattoos are used to express what young ppl really believe and find valuable, then no wonder that many young Christians use them as conversation starters and tools for witness, right?

Yes,I can see tattoos as a conversation starter!
I never meet a stranger anywhere!
Talking and conversation seems to one of my blessings...............others may think not....lol.

@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have had them done as witness tools.

My wife and I talked with a young lady with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also. And clearly it would have led to other conversations with ppl also.

I reckon she does not regret it one bit.

Kind of like an investment in future witness conversations, right?

It's like, presumably we want ppl to talk to us about the faith, right?

I reckon with such an assurance before doing it, it would for her have been a joyous experience to have the ink pumped in, anyway.

Displaying a tattoo, to me, is telling the world that I am not ashamed of my Savior. .... tell the world that I am not ashamed of who I am. Come what may.
Hi @Truman

So any more thoughts about your possible tattoo plan?

I was just telling @L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d about the young lady with whom my wife and I talked with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse, and mine also; and she seemed to have had it done as a witness tool.

Perhaps I should get a third eye tattooed on my forehead. That would certainly give my kids something new to talk about! Lol
I don't think a tattoo is in my future as I rarely get out anymore.

@Truman Oh of course; I was forgetting you have health issues; hope you can cope with them.

So are your kids that you mention old enough to get tattoos for themselves? (Many Christian young ppl get faith based designs tattooed.)

My oldest has a tattoo on his shoulder. It's the Tasmanian Devil. In one hand, he has a bloody axe. In the other, he is holding Bugs Bunny's head! His mother (rest her soul) was responsible for that. Took him for it when he was 15. Didn't tell me until after.
I don't think my other son has any, which is surprising. My daughter-in-law either just got one or is getting one. I don't see what all the fuss is about, but then again I'm old. I guess.
