@farouk Please watch this ...I can see getting tattoos for this reason....
@TLHKAJ Thanks; I saw some of it already; it seems to be about expressing surviving and moving on positively from trauma.

Did you mean by 'I can see getting tattoos for this reason' that you understand why others do it? or that you might consider it as a means of expressing your own feelings?

I know you said your daughter went through a traumatic experience and so got one to commemorate what will remain on her heart.

@TLHKAJ PS: The lady in the video seems to be moved and happy that receiving her inking is expressing something of the relief of moving on from the past trauma.

So is the artist likely a Christian, do you think?

(Great that you found the video.)

Yes...this thread has been ongoing for a long time now....it's hard for me to get engaged in conversation about it because it's not a very deep topic. I am not complaining just letting you know I can't offer much more to what has already been shared....I don't know enough about tattoos to get into it too deep.
God Bless
@Heart2Soul Yes, well: so many ppl just make sure they do it once and get tattooed....and then move on to other things in life... :)

And some people see no need for a tattoo. Like me. I just don't think about it.
@Truman Well, this is good!

I think a lot of Christians think not in terms of a faith based tattoo (Bible verse or ref., etc.) as a need, but as a proven pragmatic tool that works in encouraging testimony conversations.

But you are right; it's not a need, as such.

I'm talking about a trauma survivor who's been forcefully tattooed and branded by her handlers to show ownership, and is walking through a process of learning where her true identity comes from (Jesus Christ = in Him, I live and move and have my being) ...and reclaiming those broken parts of herself back for Christ ...choosing to say, "This is who I am ... I'm not who they say I am. I'm a daughter of the King of kings!" The tattoo is not the focus, but what God has done in her heart. For me, it's more about the healing God has wrought.

Somehow, I don't think you grasp what I'm saying. I think you're more focused on the tattooing and promoting it for the sake of it being a cool thing for Christians to do. That's not where I'm coming from.

@TLHKAJ Thanks for your comments; I did see in the video where the lady was being tattooed and the experience seemed to relate positively as she moved away from her trauma; at least, this is how it seemed to me in the video when I saw it; you know, the part toward the end where she receives the tattoo.

Sometimes tattoos relate to suffering and are far from being just cool, etc. It seemed in the video that the experience of getting tattooed related to her the suffering that she had endured; unless I misunderstood it.

Did you miss that she had tried to escape her handlers several times and when she was caught, they would mark her with a tattoo that was signed, "love, daddy"? Often, handlers or programmers are "daddy" to those they abuse. She was not only tattooed but carved. Seeing those marks on her body was a reminder of her past. That's why she wanted them covered.

The cover ups were a kind of attempt at closure on a traumatic past.

Thanks again for posting the video.
