Nope he is speaking nonsense... God already wrote what is right in our hearts.
Romans 2:15
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another
The scriptures are for our learning and understanding... growth depends on our obedience. People can read scripture all day long, and not grow at all.
2Pet 3
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Regarding the OP...
I firmly believe that the Bible alone is the only valid source of all beliefs and doctrines of Christianity. It is astonishing to me how much has been added to what the Bible says! The RCC is the worst offender, but some Protestant denominations have also added a lot of unscriptural "baggage".

BTW, you might start spelling their names correctly. No apostrophes, no capitalization, etc.

Did Spurgeon die for your sins? What did Spurgeon do that you would listen to him but not the apostles who head directly from Jesus?
The scripture teaches we don't war after the flesh...
2 Corinthians 10:3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

why do we need to GROW in grace?

Ephesians 2:4-5, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in offenses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you are saved!" NET
If you used a good, modern translation you wouldn't need to ask this question.
