“I dont know anything. Ever. It’s really quite relaxing.” Dirk Gently
To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna (what is it?) to eat
Manna is God's word. Hidden manna is God's word yet to be revealed.
Not that all of God's word isn't already revealed, it is. But it's up to the individual to find it.
That's where studying and showing oneself approved, meditating on the word, prayer..
all these working together to "lift the veil" that hides the spiritual truths.
In the OT and in Revelation, I think it's Jeremiah. God gives him a little book to eat..
I'll find it:
It's Ezekiel:
Eze 3:1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest;
eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
Eze 3:2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
Eze 3:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee.
Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
Eze 3:4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel,
and speak with my words unto them.
Rev 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
Rev 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go
and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Rev 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me,
Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
Rev 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Rev 10:11 And he said unto me,
Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
Now in the book of Ezekiel, God is sending him to speak to physical Israel.
In Revelation, God is sending John to speak to the world.
I'm looking at this "manna" set on a plate before me.
And these two things look the same, but something is different.
Ezekiel is told to eat the roll, and when he did it was sweet to the taste.
When John is given the book to eat, not only is it sweet to the taste, but now it is bitter in the belly.
Maybe sometimes vengence is sweet.
Jonah was angry with God because he felt that these people in Nineveh were so bad, that God should not have made a way for them to escape judgment. He sat on the hill waiting for God to fulfill the word that he was sent to tell them.
You got 40 days and God is going to rain hell on you!
And he waited.. and he waited.. when they repented and God turned from judging them, Jonah got mad.
On the other hand we have John.
John is in this new age. This whole new world where MERCY is prefered over judgement.
He understands the people are evil and wicked and deserves vengence and punishment.
But something is different with John. He feels sympathy, he feels compassion.
And knowing what is about to come upon the world makes him sick to his stomach.
I'm just seeing this for the first time.
I could be way off here.
But this is how I search for "hidden manna" in God's word.
I read it, I chew on it, I think about it, and I digest it.
Sometimes what I find is sweet and light, other times what I find is heavy and burdensome.
Jesus says to take his yoke upon us and learn of him, and that his burden is light.
Although sometimes I find mercy can have a tangible weight on ones soul.
I'd rather be burdened with Love, than unburdened with hate.
Just thinking..
