No the words ton Sabbaton is not sabbath days and those words are not together in Colossians 2:16. "Ton" translates to the definite article the.
Ton Sabbaton is in Exodus 20 and translates the Sabbath in almost every translation as it should. Sabbaton is plural but that does not matter because most of the time you see the word Sabbath in the New Testament English translations it is Sabbaton. Which is the plural form in the Greek. Context is what should matter and what should drive the translations being what they are. So what does the context of chapter 2 in Colossians say in regard to how we should understand verse 2:16?
Let no man therefore judge you,.... Since they were complete in Christ, had everything in him, were circumcised in him; and particularly since the handwriting of the law was blotted out, and torn to pieces through the nails of the cross of Christ, the apostle's conclusion is, that they should be judged by no man; they should not regard or submit to any man's judgment, as to the observance of the ceremonial law: Christ is the prophet who was to be raised up like unto Moses, and who only, and not Moses, is to be heard; saints are to call no man master upon earth but him; they are not to be the servants of men, nor should suffer any yoke of bondage to be imposed upon them; and should they be suffered and condemned by others, as if they were transgressors of the law, and their state bad, for not observing the rituals of the former dispensation,......... they should not regard such censures, for the judaizing Christians were very censorious,'...................

they were ready to look upon and condemn a man as an immoral man, as in a state of damnation, if he did not keep the law of Moses; but such rigid censures were to be disregarded, "let no man judge", or "condemn you"; and though they could not help or hinder the judgment and condemnation of men, yet they could despise them, and not be uneasy with them, but set light by them, as they ought to do.

The Syriac version renders it, נדודכון, "let no man trouble you", or make you uneasy, by imposing ceremonies on you: the sense is, that the apostle would not have them submit to the yoke they would lay upon them, nor be terrified by their anathemas against them, for the non-observation of the things that follow:

in meat or in drink; or on account of not observing the laws and rules about meats and drinks, in the law of Moses; such as related to the difference between clean and unclean creatures, to abstinence in Nazarites from wine and strong drink, and which forbid drinking out of an uncovered vessel, and which was not clean; hence the washing of cups, &c. religiously observed by the Pharisees.

There was no distinction of meats and drinks before the law, but all sorts of herbs and animals, without limitation, were given to be food for men; by the ceremonial law a difference was made between them, some were allowed, and others were forbidden; which law stood only in meats and drinks, and such like things, but is now abolished; for the kingdom of God, or the Gospel dispensation, does not lie in the observance of such outward things, but in internal ones, in righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost; it is not any thing that goes into the man that defiles, nor is anything in its own nature common or unclean, but every creature of God is good, so be it, it be used in moderation and with thankfulness:

or in respect of an holyday; or feast, such as the feast of the passover, the feast of tabernacles, and the feast of Pentecost; which were three grand festivals, at which all the Jewish males were obliged to appear before the Lord;

but were never binding upon the Gentiles, and were what the Christians under the Gospel dispensation had nothing to do with, and even believing Jews were freed from them, as having had their accomplishment in Christ; and therefore were not to be imposed upon them, or they condemned for the neglect of them.

The phrase εν μερει, which we render "in respect", has greatly puzzled interpreters; some reading it "in part of a feast"; or holyday; as if the sense was, that no man should judge or condemn them, for not observing some part of a festival, since they were not obliged to observe any at all: others "in the partition", or "division of a feast"; that is, in the several distinct feasts, as they come in their turns:

some (c) think the apostle respects the Misna, or oral law of the Jews, in which are several treatises concerning a good day, or an holyday, the beginning of the new year, and the sabbath, which treatises are divided into sections or chapters; and that it is one of these sections or chapters, containing rules about these things, that is here regarded; and then the sense is, let no man judge you or condemn you, for your non-observance of feast days, new moons, and sabbaths, by any part, chapter, or section, of יום טוב, or by anything out of the treatise "concerning a feast day"; or by any part, chapter, or section, of ראש השנה, the treatise "concerning the beginning of the year"; or by any part, chapter, or section, of שבת, the treatise "concerning the sabbath"; and if these treatises are referred to, it proves the antiquity of the Misna.

The Syriac version renders it, בפולגא דעאדא, "in the divisions of the feast": frequent mention is made of פרוס החג, "the division", or "half of the feast", in the Jewish writings: thus for instance it is said (d),

"three times in a year they clear the chamber (where the half-shekels were put), בפרוס, "in the half", or middle of the passover, in the middle of Pentecost, and in the middle of the feast.
again (e).

"there are three times for tithing of beasts, in the middle of the passover, in the middle of Pentecost, and the middle of the feast;
that is, of tabernacles: and this, the Jewish commentators say (f), was fifteen days before each of these festivals: now whether it was to this, פרוס, "middle", or "half space", before each and any of these feasts the apostle refers to, may be considered:
or of the new moon; which the Jews were obliged to observe, by attending religious worship, and offering sacrifices; see Num_28:11 2Ki_4:23.

Or of the sabbath days, or "sabbaths"; meaning the jubilee sabbath, which was one year in fifty; and the sabbath of the land, which was one year in seven; and the seventh day sabbath, and some copies read in the singular number,

"or of the sabbath"; which were all peculiar to the Jews, were never binding on the Gentiles, and to which believers in Christ, be they who they will, are by no means obliged; nor ought they to observe them, the one any more than the other; and should they be imposed upon them, they ought to reject them; and should they be judged, censured, and condemned, for so doing, they ought not to mind it.

It is the sense of the Jews themselves, that the Gentiles are not obliged to keep their sabbath; no, not the proselyte of the gate, or he that dwelt in any of their cities; for they say (g), that "it is lawful for a proselyte of the gate to do work on the sabbath day for himself, as for an Israelite on a common feast day; R. Akiba says, as for all Israelite on a feast day; R. Jose says, it is lawful for a proselyte of the gate to do work on the sabbath day for himself, as for an Israelite on a common or week day:
and this last is the received sense of the nation; nay, they assert that a Gentile that keeps a sabbath is guilty of death (h); see Gill on Mar_2:27. Yea, they say (i), that "if a Gentile sabbatizes, or keeps a sabbath, though on any of the days of the week, if he makes or appoints it as a sabbath for himself, he is guilty of the same.
It is the general sense of that people, that the sabbath was peculiarly given to the children of Israel; and that the Gentiles, strangers, or others, were not punishable for the neglect and breach of it (k); that it is a special and an additional precept, which, with some others, were given them at Marah, over and above the seven commands, which the sons of Noah were only obliged to regard (l); and that the blessing and sanctifying of it were by the manna provided for that day; and that the passage in Gen_2:3; refers not to the then present time, but על העתיד, "to time to come", to the time of the manna (m),
(c) Vid. Casaubon. Epist. ep. 24. (d) Misn. Shekalim, c. 3. sect. 1. (e) Misn. Becorot, c. 9. sect. 5. (f) Maimon. & Bartenora in ib. (g) T. Bab. Ceritot, fol. 9. 1. Piske Tosaphot Yebamot. art. 84. Any who joined themselves to God and His people were supposed to do as God would have.

Lev 24:22 Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

And Jew and Gentile shall be Judged by it, regardless of whether we died before or after Christ.

Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another,
Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

The points have already been answered, major disagreements is the order of the day.
Yeah right. No matter how many times that I answer points made by Judaizers they still say I have not and cannot answer their points. Arguing with a Judaizer is like arguing with a crafty lawyer who is out to win their case at all costs. Whatever it takes! You should be very thankful that you found a safe haven for Judaizers after being banned from Christian Chat. I have already answered enough points but it always falls on deaf ears and I'm tired of wasting my time beating a dead horse.
No in respect to the OP.

. Not the Law but the handwriting of the decrees.
I think Gill answered adequately.

Act 21:17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
Act 21:18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
Act 21:19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
Act 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
Act 21:21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
Act 21:22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
Act 21:23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
Act 21:24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
Act 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purifcation, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

Act 21:25 But with regard to the Gentiles who have believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ), we have sent them a letter with our decision that they should keep themselves free from anything that has been sacrificed to idols and from [tasting] blood and [eating the meat of animals] which have been strangled and from all impurity and sexual immorality.

Act_15:20, Act_15:29
Col 2:16 Therefore let no one sit in judgment on you in matters of food and drink, or with regard to a feast day or a New Moon or a Sabbath.
Col 2:17 Such [things] are only the shadow of things that are to come, and they have only a symbolic value. But the reality (the substance, the solid fact of what is foreshadowed, the body of it) belongs to Christ.
Col 2:18 Let no one defraud you by acting as an umpire and declaring you unworthy and disqualifying you for the prize, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions [he claims] he has seen, vainly puffed up by his sensuous notions and inflated by his unspiritual thoughts and fleshly conceit,
Col 2:19 And not holding fast to the Head, from Whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by means of its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
Col 2:20 If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations?--such as]
Col 2:21 Do not handle [this], Do not taste [that], Do not even touch [them],
Col 2:22 Referring to things all of which perish with being used. To do this is to follow human precepts and doctrines. [Isa_29:13]
Col 2:23 Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.]

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths. All human religions place men under bondage to ordinances, rules, regulations, and a religious calendar. This calendar usually includes annual observances (holy days), monthly festivals (new moons), or weekly holidays (sabbaths). The expression “Therefore let no one judge you” means that a Christian cannot be justly condemned by others if, for instance, he eats pork, or if he fails to observe religious festivals or holy days. Some false cults, such as Spiritism, insist on their members abstaining from meats. For centuries Roman Catholics were not supposed to eat meat on Friday. Many churches require abstinence from certain foods during Lent. Others, like the Mormons, say that a person cannot be a member in good standing if he drinks tea or coffee. Still others, notably the Seventh Day Adventists, insist that a person must keep the Sabbath in order to please God. The Christian is not under such ordinances. For a fuller treatment of the law, the Sabbath, and legalism, see the excurses at Mat_5:18, Mat_12:8, and Gal_6:18.
2:17 The Jewish religious observances were a shadow of things to come, but the substance (or body) is Christ's. They were instituted in the OT as a pre-picture. For instance, the Sabbath was given as a type of the rest which would be the portion of all who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Now that the Lord Jesus has come, why should men continue to be occupied with the shadows? It is the same as being occupied with a picture when the very person pictured is present.

You may agree to disagree, it matters little to me.

Amen! The plural form of the word "sabbath" cannot be used to prove a reference to merely special ceremonial sabbaths. The Greek of Exodus 20:8-10, the giving of the fourth commandment itself utilizes the plural also found in Colossians 2:16. Also, Leviticus 24:8; Numbers 15:32; Luke 4:16 and Acts 13:14 do as well, yet there is still a reference made to the weekly, Saturday sabbath.

The context doesn't change this fact.

Colossians 2:14 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

Compare with Ephesians 2:15 - Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.

Keeping God's law by the Holy Ghost is never "for" salvation. That is your continual strawman that you foist upon 'us'. You have been told time and again to not do it, but you continue to. The sabbath can only be kept, by the aide of the Holy Ghost, "in" salvation (from sin). Try quoting Ephesians 2:10 with Ephesians 2:8-9.
Amen God in us through Christ for us to both will and do His good pleasure. He is that All which is given to us pertaining to life and godliness. Thereby we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, being found in him, and He in us that the world might believe. Not having our own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is out of God by THE faith. For we are dead nevertheless we live. Yet NOT US but Christ lives in us. And the life we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith OF the Son of God not denying the POWER thereof.

I think Gill answered adequately.
Not even close my friend. It is agreed upon that the context of verse 2:16 in Colossians ties back to verse 14 where explicitly states
Handwriting of the Decrees were blotted out. Not the Law but the handwriting of the decrees. Or better yet as was mentioned before, since the clause is in the dative case the handwriting TO the Decrees. Not the handwriting of decrees. It is the handwriting of THE or to the decrees that were blotted out. Which would be the judgements and condemnation which they imposed according to the grammar of verse 14 and then the context which is set by verse 16 when it mentions judgments. Not the decrees and certainly not the Law, the Ten commandments. Nowhere does Gill or anyone else for that matter address these facts.

You may agree to disagree, it matters little to me.
Matters little to you is not of God and His Love.

As was already pointed out the grammar ties the entire chapter together. 3 questions were asked by the Disciples. When shall these things be in respect to the temple being destroyed, the sign of His coming and the end of the world. Jesus' answer ties all three questions together. His use of conjunctive particles from verse four to verse six where Jesus talks of not being troubled in the hearing of wars and the rumor of wars and the rise and deception of false christs. He says all this must come to pass but the end is not yet.

The end of what?

The world in respect to one of the questions asked in verse 3.

Matt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Matt 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Matt 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Matt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Then Jesus picks up again with the use of conjunctive particles with the word for in verse 7. He says in respect to wars and rumor of wars, that nation shall rise against nation and Kingdom against kingdom. And in many places there shall be famines, pestilences and earthquakes. And all this is being said in relation to what Jesus said in verse 6, "but the end is not yet". The end of the world.

Jesus continues and says that all these are the beginning of sorrows in verse 8. Then in verse nine speaking of the end still Jesus speaks in the general sense How you, I and all that read this prior to the end shall be delivered, afflicted, killed, hated for His name sake. And also that many shall be offended, caused to stumble. And thereby betray one another and hate one another. And that many false prophets shall arise and deceive many. And through this the love of many shall wax cold. But he that that endures until the end, the same shall be saved.

The end of what? The end of the world. How do we know. Because the context is connected through the use of conjunctive particles. From verse 4 to 13. And Jesus use of conjunctive particles continues in His discourse connecting everything back to verse 6 where He speaks of the end in relation to the end of the world.

Matt 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Matt 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matt 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Matt 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Matt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Matt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Matt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

As Jesus continues starting with another conjunctive particle. He says, And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world and then shall the end, the end of the world shall come.

As He goes on Jesus talks about when you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation set up in the holy place. He starts this with another conjunctive particle. That word is therefore. This means as you know that what was about to be said is related to what was previously talked about. So now we understand that the love of many waxing cold will be in collation with the Gospel of the Kingdom being preached in all the world and the Abomination of desolation set in the Holy spoken by Daniel will transpire as a sign of the end of the world..

In Jesus' statement, when you shall see the abomination of desolation set up in the holy place he uses the 2nd person pronoun you. This must be be understood in the general sense. As if Jesus is talking to all who may read this knowing that it would be written down for all to see, and not as if He is speaking to just His Disciples Peter, James, John and Andrew. The four who asked Him privately (Mark 13:3).

The main reason is, as was shown before, is His use of the conjunctive particle therefore. Which connects everything back to the explaining of when the end of the world will come. But the other thing is that if we take the abomination of desolation to be when the temple was destroyed in 70 AD then we must also know that 3 of Disciples where Martyred by then and the forth John due to the fact that Mary was not alive anymore by 70AD more and likely was not in Jerusalem either. But as was said Jesus used the word therefore connecting the abomination of desolation to the end of the world. Which is the context of the passage here chapter 24 as shown by His grammar, the use of the conjunctive particles. Which tie everything together in the same context. The explaining of when the end of the world shall come.

Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand

Then Jesus continues with another conjunctive particle, Then, at the time when the love of many has waxed cold and the Gospel has reach the end of the world and the abomination of desolation is set up as signs of the end of the world, then let them in Judea flee unto the mountains, if on the housetop do not come down just go. And woe unto them with child in those days. But pray in your fleeing that this not happen in the winter because of it be even rougher on you or on the Sabbath Day because you will be distracted with worship and rest from your physical labors. For then at the moment these signs of the coming of the end of the world appear, then verse 21 continues there shall be a tribulation as there never was nor shall there ever be again. Then at this time if any says here is Christ believe it not. For at the time of this persecution which will be shortened there shall arise false Christs and prophets and they shall deceive many. But they whom endure unto the end. Do not let there love wax cold through Christ they shall be saved.

Matt 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Matt 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Matt 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Matt 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Matt 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Matt 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Matt 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Matt 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Behold Jesus says, during this tribulation which will happen after the love of many wax cold and the Gospel of the Kingdom is preached throughout the whole world and the abomination of desolation is set up which are signs of the end of the world coming. Then He says behold, during this tribulation when the false Christs arise. Behold if they say he is in the desert or in a secret chamber believe it not. For as lightening shines from the east unto the west even so shall My return be.

But immediately after this tribulation that will be shortened the Sun shall be darkened, the moon shall not give it's light, the stars shall fall from heaven and the powers of heaven shaken. At this moment, then verse 30 states shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven as lightening shines from the east unto the west. And all the tribes shall morn as they see the sign of the Son of Man coming in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory. At this moment when all that are on the earth shall see will Jesus send His angels with the sound of the trumpet and gather the elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven unto the other for the end of this world has come. Blessed be the Name of our Lord. And praise to You our Lord God in heaven. Who just revealed to me in this study that chapter 24 in Matthew is mainly about Jesus' coming to gather the elect, His children prior to the end of the world. But up to this point as was shown before the elect, we His children are gathered, we will be observing the Sabbath. And we should pray that when the tribulation comes prior to the signs that the love of many have waxed cold, and the Gospel is preached throughout the whole world and the abomination of desolation is set up in the holy place. That our flight from tribulation not be in the winter or the Sabbath Day. Amen

Matt 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
Matt 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Matt 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matt 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Matt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Matt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Nor have the facts set forth in this post have been proven error. Praise God indeed.

This is to important for those who profess Christ and such a eye opener not to share repeatedly.

Let's take a look at Matthew. From the KJV Chapter 24 speaks of the tribulation and also the Sabbath. In Matt 24:20-31 Jesus speaks of the Sabbath being kept BY HIS FOLLOWS (US) through the destruction of the Temple in 70AD up to His Second coming.

VERSES 20 THROUGH 31 TALK OF THIS. AND VERSE 20'S WARNING to pray THAT our FLIGHT DUE TO THE PERSECUTION NOT BE IN THE WINTER NOR OR THE SABBATH DAY IS CONNECTED TO THIS.

How do we know?

By His use of the words For, And, Then, For, Behold, Wherefore, For and and in verses 21- 31 where it states the Saints are gathered. All those words are connectives, they connect what is about to be said to what was previously said.

So Are the Apostles around today to experience the tribulation and see the second coming of our Lord?

Have the elect been gathered together?

No, so this warning to pray that our flight not be in the winter nor Sabbath Day IS FOR US ALSO or those who will be blessed to see that glorious day of His return when we the Saints are gathered together to be with the forever more AFTER the tribulation that is said to be like none before.

Matt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other

We can never learn if we think we are learnt.
I respectfully do not agree.

Christians are not subjected to the Mosaic Law (i. e. Sabbath). Christ abolished the Law and instituted a new covenant. Compare Matthew 22:39, 40; John 13:34; Romans 7:6; 10:4; Colossians 2:13-16.

Instead of commonly using one day to reflect on God, we should be reflecting on spiritual matters every day. Compare Deuteronomy 6:4-7.

I respectfully do not agree.
Then please prove the facts of the OP to be wrong within the context of the passage cited. Quoting other scripture elsewhere does not prove what is being said in another passage wrong.

As Christians our lives are God's through Christ. Every day is to be a day of prayer and rejoicing, always. We have 6 days to do all our work and one day God set aside for us to rest from our secular labors. And that day is the Seventh Day. From Friday sundown to Saturday sundown we are to rest from all our work and commit the day to God in worship, fellowship and enjoying His creation.

But what does it point to, and how is that which it points to "kept?"

And what good is the "sign" of days, if it is not referred to as a sign as God gave it to be?

150+ posts later and you are still not referring to the seventh day as a sign, as God gave it to be from the beginning:

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;

“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

Sign and commandment. It is Sabbaths in Ex31:13, which is plural. So that would be all of them. All the Sabbaths, the ceremonial and the Seventh Day Sabbath that our Lord God instituted were and are a sign that it is He that Sanctifies us. Notice please that the Sabbaths mention in verse 31:13 are not said to be a perpetual Covenant. However, in verse 31:17 the Seventh Day Sabbath is mentioned as being a sign again BUT also a perpetual covenant. And the reason for it being mentioned as a sign again and a perpetual covenant is as the commandment states, "for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed."

It is and has always been the Lord God that sanctifies, makes us holy. This we knew. But it is interesting that prior to our Father God giving that Tablets containing the Decalogue that He brings this up. I love it. As if to try to remind the people as they receive the Decalogue, that it is not these commandments that make you holy it is Me.

Exod 31:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Exod 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Exod 31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Exod 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Exod 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
Exod 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

As was stated above. It is a sign and a commandment. a perpetual covenant for all those to whom would be called His people.

None of this however answers the facts that are laid open in the OP. That the grammar shows that Jesus expected His followers to be keeping the Sabbath up to the time of His coming in the clouds when He shall send His angels to gather the elect at the end of the world.

Though an interesting topic it is not the subject of the OP. So that is why it has not been referenced.

Amen @mailmandan, especially the bolded letters.
J.
Sabbath is plural in Colossians but that does not matter because a lot of the time you see the word Sabbath in the New Testament English translations it is in a plural form in the Greek.

In Matt 12:1 the plural form is used and then the singular to bring into context what Sabbath is being spoken of.

As it is in Mark 2:24, Luke 6:2, 13:10

There are other examples. If we just look at the Greek form as it is in Colossians but in other verses we see that the context shows us what Sabbath is being spoken of.
Matt 28:1, Luke 4:16, Acts 14:13, 16:13

Context is what should matter and what should drive the translations being what they are. So what does the context of chapter 2 in Colossians say in regard to how we should understand verse 2:16? Many a theologians and layman alike have been mislead through bad translations of the Bible, preconceived notions, and a poor understanding and teachings of the text.

It is agreed upon that the context of verse 2:16 in Colossians ties back to verse 14 where explicitly states the Handwriting of the Decrees were blotted out. Not the Law but the handwriting of the decrees. Or better yet as was mentioned before, since the clause is in the dative case the handwriting TO the Decrees. Not the handwriting of decrees. It is the handwriting of THE or to the decrees that were blotted out. Which would be the judgements and condemnation which they imposed according to the grammar of verse 14 and then the context which is set by verse 16 when it mentions not to judge.

Not the decrees and certainly not the Law, the Ten commandments. Nowhere does Gill or anyone else for that matter address these facts. It is the sabbaths in which were part of the handwriting to the decrees. Those ceremonial sabbaths that were instituted because of our sin and pointed us to Christ. Not the Sabbath of the Decalogue. The context of Colossians two doesn't even come close to inferring that.

Though this is important once again it must be stated that even if it stated other wise it would not matter in relation to Matt 24. Because the grammar and context of Matt 24 explicitly states that Jesus expected us, His followers to be observing the Sabbath up to His coming in the clouds and His sending forth His angels to gather the elect at the end of the world. Otherwise He would not of counseled us to pray that our flight from the tribulation prior to His coming in the clouds and gathering us before the end of the world not be on the Sabbath.

None of that matters if you do not see that there is actually nothing "perpetual" with God, and if you don't enter into His rest but remain outside looking in like a hamster on a treadmill happy to be there. That is not keeping the commandments, that is making an idol of them.

Who fulfilled the nomos/entole in my stead?
Rom 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. [Joh_3:18]
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.
Rom 8:3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [N1the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [N2subdued, overcame, N3deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice], [Lev_7:37]
AMP

Rom 8:1 Therefore, now there is no gezar din (verdict) of ashem (guilty), no harsha'ah (condemnation as guilty) for those in Moshiach Yehoshua (cf. Ro 5:18).
Rom 8:2 For the Torah of the Ruach HaKodesh that gives Chayyim in Moshiach Yehoshua [YIRMEYAH 31:31-34; YECHEZKEL 36:26-27] has set you free from the Chok of Chet and Mavet.
Rom 8:3 For what the Torah was unable to do in that it was weak through the basar (fallen human nature under Chet Kadmon and without hitkhadshut renewal and regeneration by the Ruach Hakodesh), G-d sent his own Ben HaElohim [Moshiach] in the very demut (likeness) of the basar of sinful humanity and as a chattat (sin offering, sin atoning sacrifice, 2C 5:21) and both pronounced and effected a sentence of death on HaChet baBasar (Sin in the Flesh, in the fallen old humanity)
OJB.

J. The Holy Spirit as the Power for Holy Living (Chap. 8)
The subject of holy living continues. In chapter 6 Paul had answered the question, “Does the teaching of the gospel (salvation by faith alone) permit or even encourage sinful living?” In chapter 7 he faced up to the question, “Does the gospel tell Christians to keep the law in order to lead a holy life?” Now the question is: How is the Christian enabled to live a holy life?
We notice right away that the personal pronouns that were so prominent in chapter 7 largely disappear, and that the Holy Spirit becomes the dominant Person. This is an important key to understanding the passage. Victory is not in ourselves but in the Holy Spirit, who indwells us. A. J. Gordon lists seven helps of the Spirit: freedom in service (v. 2); strength for service (v. 11); victory over sin (v. 13); guidance in service (v. 14); the witness of sonship (v. 16); assistance in service (v. 26); assistance in prayer (v. 26).
8:1 From the valley of despair and defeat, the apostle now climbs the heights with the triumphant shout, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus! This may be understood in two ways.
First, there is no divine condemnation as far as our sin is concerned, because we are in Christ. There was condemnation as long as we were in our first federal head, Adam. But now we are in Christ and therefore are as free from condemnation as He is. So we can hurl out the challenge:
Reach my blest Savior first,
Take Him from God's esteem;
Prove Jesus bears one spot of sin,
Then tell me I'm unclean.
—W. N. Tomkins
But it may also mean that there is no need for the kind of self-condemnation which Paul described in chapter 7. We may pass through a Romans 7 experience, unable to fulfill the law's requirements by our own effort, but we don't have to stay there. Verse 2 explains why there is no condemnation.
