I'm starting to think that the YLT translation is the only one to read

No.

That interpretation would be a private one.

“…no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:20)
when Jesus said, 'drink my blood and eat my flesh' doesn't that involve a private interpretation? .....one of which there are several.

Nope.

Because the Holy Bible itself gives an example of that action.

Eating bread and drinking the fruit of the vine is eating his flesh and drinking his blood.

Your missing something here - please read more carefully - Peace

We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation.
For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

from [the prophet’s] own
ἰδίας (idias)
Adjective - Genitive Feminine Singular
Strong's Greek 2398: Pertaining to self, i.e. One's own; by implication, private or separate.

Tell me what I'm missing?
It seems to me that people are putting their own interpretation onto the scriptures and then telling me its not their interpretation. Sounds cocky even sanctimonious to me.

i agree with you 100%

i was just pointing out that the Prophet did not generate from himself the Prophecy.
Therefore Prophecy, in fact, has a Private Interpretation because it is God who gave the Prophecy in the first place.
But neither the Prophet himself, nor any other human, has the dibs on Prophecy unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to them.

Religious pride always seeks to eschew "it is written".

People disregard Proverbs 30:5-6 as well - all the time.

Exactly!

That passage is about the origin of prophecy, not what we think when we read it.

Much love!

So quickly into ad hominem . . . it generally means you don't have a better argument, which often shows a lack of understanding.

You appear to be attempting to prove the anhililation of the wicked apparently, but your method here is not correct. The same words defining the duration of the life of the righteous are used to define the duration of the punishment of the wicked.

Same words, same syntax, same everything. It seems to me that you want to use this to show limit in the one case but not the other, so you are taking the same syntax of the same word in a similar context as if it means two different things, and that's not correct.

Rather than address this point, you turn on me. Bravo! Point made, I suppose!

Much love!

Good bye.

I believe the traditional English Bibles have been so badly translated that they actually teach false doctrine.

Take Hebrews 1:1-2, for example.

Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV vs. YLT

ESV
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

YLT
In many parts, and many ways, God of old having spoken to the fathers in the prophets,in these last days did speak to us in a Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He did make the ages

What are your thoughts?
You might like the LSV . It’s a literal translation and you can download it free. The LSV Bible

Referring back to the OP subject... why do you think that the YLT is the only one to read? I'm assuming that it's a personal preference, otherwise you had better give some very solid reasons for thinking others should choose that translation.

I have king James companion bible. Strongs concordance and Greek lexicon concordance. I have the original Hebrew and Greek. In the king James companion bible, Dr e w bullinger has side notes that corrects any mistranslation. Hosea chapter 7:6. For they have ready their heart like a oven, while they lie in wait; their baker sleeps all the night; in the morning is burns as a flaming fire. Let's correct this verse. THIER BAKER SLEEPS. Proper translation. THEIR ANGER SMOKES. Its talking about princes, leaders and people as idolatry. Those in Congress promote their own agenda and ignore will of the people. Some politicians are corrupt. You vote for them, and some politicians cut deals with lobbyists. Pharmaceutical, oil companies, tobacco, NRA, they own 75 percent of politicians. Corruption in Congress. I'll stop here. I made my point.

This has many mistakes...

a) You do not have the original Hebrew and Greek. They don't exist. The King James translation is based on a very small set of late manuscripts.
b) Dr E.W. Bullinger is just one of many scholars. He does not have the ability to correct all translation mistakes -- nobody does.
c) You example of a "proper translation" is silly. What are your qualifications?
d) " Those in Congress promote their own agenda and ignore will of the people. Some politicians are corrupt. You vote for them, and some politicians cut deals with lobbyists." is self-contradictory.
e) Pharmaceutical, oil companies, tobacco, NRA, they own 75 percent of politicians. Evidence???
f) You haven't made any point. You're just spouting your own mistaken opinions.

I find Utley's notes and special topics very refreshing--your review on him?

It's my understanding that its translations into English of the original Greek and Hebrew scriptures are the most accurate, although it's not necessarily easy on the eyes when reading.

You'll have to excuse our brother Jim here; he is filled with anger and bitterness and constantly abuses his brothers and sisters in this community.

I think he is a superb Biblical scholar. I have read his analyses and find he writes with great depth and understanding.

Thank you @Jim B next to my Bible, he will be my go to--since most here are not familiar with him.
