well if youre praying "for" things you got the totally wrong idea anyway imo
petitioning God in prayer for things that you would like is a purely pagan practice guys
you assume that you might change God's mind about something?
Oh don't get me wrong I know perfectly well what you refer to. I'm simply playing devil's advocate to highlight the nonsense of religious dogma. The Bible is clear on all this. So-called Christians oft pray the Lord's Prayer which clearly shows the way:
"Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven"
According to the doctrine God is in control of everything. Nothing happens except that he cause it to happen or allows it to happen.
Hence there is really only one thing to pray for which all Christians should be praying . . .
"Dear God, help me understand what your will is and to accept it and show me how I can help deliver your will on Earth"
The reality of this passes over the heads of most "pretend Christians".
When a loved one is afflicted with terminal cancer they don't say "this is God's will, God made or allowed this to happen"
Instead they pray "Dear God, please heal my loved one from cancer"
This is tantamount to blasphemy. It's plainly praying for God to NOT exercise his will. Christians live in perpetual denial of this reality. They haven't thought it through.
That's why they have no tangible answer to things like the sexual abuse of innocent children by the likes of Jimmy Savile. They have to accept that it is God's will that it happens and that he stands idly by and allows it to happen. They can't deal with things like this. It challenges their belief system.
