We know. You've stated many times how you've foolishly wasted so much of your life, becoming a bitter and resentful soul.

No I haven’t. I’m not a bitter and resentful soul and not a minute of time I spent working with them has been a waste of my life.

You call these people fools and flatter yourself that you are responsible for their transformation to become wise. You accomplis this despite the awful effects of art on their foolish understanding. A toast to your glory!

Suicide isn’t the solution.
Well, it is A solution.

You've beaten to death that mere mortals are incapable of leading others to Christ. All we can do is lead them astray. So, suicide is better than continuing to do the bad we cannot stop doing, right?

Or do you suppose that your posts here are not that impactful? That shows such as The Chosen will continue unabated despite your crusade? I am confused.

You certainly are confused.

Are entertainers teachers?

Should those who present a fictionalized Jesus in television programs and movies be considered teachers?

Do they consider themselves teachers?

I binged watch seasons 1,2, and 3 because all the talk about it from some folks in bible studies. 1,2 were mediocre at best. Jesus is an authority person and controls every conversation in the bible. There is no saying no to Jesus, The Pharisee's and the best lawyers couldn't trap Jesus. Jesus never revealed His divine plans or plan a speech. He would sit and talk for hours and never mess up. Season 3 should have MA rating that's all I'll say about that. I'll not watch season 4.

Thank you for this contribution to the discussion.

I have very limited exposure to the program. You’re the first person I‘ve heard say that Season 3 should have MA rating. That raises a red flag. Since you didn’t elaborate, I’m not sure how concerned to be about it.

A question I have now for fans of the program: Is The Chosen suitable for viewing by minors?

“There are more problems with The Chosen than the bad theology involved and the Mormon influence on the show. …”

I’ve only watched part of one episode, and found it to be wildly inaccurate. That’s hardly a fair hearing.

Programming like this is a pet peeve of mine. (There’s my bias.) I’ve met too many people who get their theology from television and movies rather than from the Bible.

The Chosen is a fictional account, a dramatization, of the biblical Jesus story. The writers take certain creative liberties to provide entertainment for their audience.

I‘m aware that many people love this program. Several whom I’ve spoken with acknowledge the inaccuracies and don’t allow it, they say, to influence their theology.

But what about those who love the program and aren’t aware that it is inaccurate? What is it doing to their theology?

Is it harmless or is it dangerous? Let me know what you think.
The creator of the series said he took liberty with the making of the chosen. I was against it at first but decided to watch it over the past few weeks and have no problems with it. If you look at the forum we have all kinds of different ideas about the bible so why should it be any different for a series like the chosen. Just filter out the biblical content from where they take liberty by filling in the gaps that are not word for word in the bible. Just my 2 cents fwiw.

The following review from Dove.org is for Season 1 only.

“Some cautionary elements of the series include violence involving fighting, swords and other situations. Additional elements include lying, deception, greed, and demonic possession. Due to these cautionary elements, the series earns our Dove-approved for Ages 12+ award for its dramatized retelling of Scripture.”

Do they consider themselves teachers?

I was reading a pastor’s review of The Chosen (looking for information regarding audience suitability) and came across the following -

“Though I’ve been mostly critical of Bible films …, I am not opposed to any and all tellings of Bible stories in television or cinema (although I do think all cinematic depictions of Jesus will always be foolish, as I’ll mention later.)

But as a pastor who is responsible for teaching sound doctrine and rebuking those who contradict it (Titus 1:9), I will warn against anything that adds to, takes away from, twists, or diminishes Scripture. The Chosen is not merely entertainment - it is teaching something about Christ and his word. What is it teaching? …”

His review is limited to Season 1. I’ve bolded the part that is relevant to the question I posed about entertainers being teachers.

Note: The review also makes reference to Jenkins saying that 95% of what’s in the show is not in the Bible.

Presenters of a fictionalized Jesus aren’t completely off the hook. They’re leading people.
You have a contemptible works based theology.

The producers of the The Chosen are leading people to Christ. Fact. But they are not "on the hook" for that; the merely planted the seed. God causes the seed to grow. All glory to God.

They did not plant the seed perfectly, you say? Give me a break! What is your solution; don't make art inspired to glorify God?

This shows how desperate and hateful you are of those who do what God calls them to do.

If only you could get the produers of The Chosen into the category of "teacher," why then you'd have them.

You have the heart of a fan, not of a pastor.

If it’s only entertainment, that’s one thing. If they’re teaching something, then that’s another.

“Dallas Jenkins is clear that he is not a pastor, The Chosen is not the Church, and the story the series is telling is not the Bible. Fair enough. But whether he recognizes it or not, his celebrity status among Christians places a burden on his shoulders. Fans will pay close attention to what he says and tend to trust who and what he advocates. If his fans should be inspired to read and trust Richard Rohr and other false teachers, based upon Jenkins’ perhaps careless endorsement, will he not bear some responsibility for that?”

“I felt like God was saying this [The Chosen] is going to be the definitive portrayal of my people, and this is what people are going to think of around the world when they think of my people, and I’m [God] not going to let you screw it up.”

(Dallas Jenkins, in a 2021 interview)

That’s a red flag.

The “definitive portrayal” is 95% man made.
