How do you know God started with those not covered? God was dealing with His people in this particular test, as much as with Egypt. Some would say certain of Israel were also killed if they had not prepared correctly. God does not wink at disobedience. God started out with His people and did not skip over because He already knew what was done.[Exo 12:29 LSB] 29 Now it happened at midnight that Yahweh struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.
Do you think God would skip over the houses of those in Israel who were sleeping in houses not prepared with blood on the doorpost? That verse does not say God passed over His people last, nor any other verse states that.
In fact Pharoah was completely out of the loop.
"And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said."
The non included reply would be: "We have been eating all night, waiting for you to say go". Any one asleep would not have been eating and thus no blood on their door posts that night in all of Egypt.
