YUP, we agree. Jesus said that. But He and the Apostles said A LOT more than that on what it takes to be saved. Why do you reject those other things they said?
I did not turn it into some ceremony. JESUS turned it (the Last Supper) into a ceremony when he said DO THIS IN REMEMBERENCE OF ME! If we don't do what He tells us to do then we won't be saved. Scripture makes it clear that THEY turned it into a ceremony. Christian historical writings from the 1st century on shows that THEY had this....what you call.....a ceremony. You reject His words, you do not practice what the 1st century practiced in the NT writings, you reject your own Christian history.
You are stuck on being right and it has blinded you....
Versus taking the blood of lambs and painting on their two side posts and the upper head post. As they did during Passover every year.
Now what I want you to do, instead of that, is when you sit down to eat and drink, I want you to remember me.
This night I am the lamb of God, I am your passover.
And on that night they took the lamb and they ate of it and left nothing to the morning.
Exo 12:3
Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth
day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of
their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo 12:4
And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take
it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take
it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6
And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:7
And they shall take of the blood, and strike
it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Exo 12:8
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread;
and with bitter
herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9
Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast
with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
Exo 12:10
And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Exo 12:11
And thus shall ye eat it;
with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it
is the LORD'S passover.
This is the very meal they were eating at when Jesus told them to eat of his flesh. Because He is the Lamb of God.
So do a comparison on what and how they had been taught to keep the Passover, and what Jesus taught them that night that was different.
There is so much there...
the whole assembly of the congregation shall kill it in the evening. That's the night Judas went out to betray him.
Instead of taking the lambs blood and putting it on the doorposts , they had to internalize the passover.
They had to understand that Jesus was their sacrifice and they had to understand it personally.
They are the doorposts... the Pillars.
Gal 2:9
And when James, Cephas, and John,
who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we
should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
Ye are now flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone...
It's not about eating flesh and drinking blood, it's about internalizing what he said versus how the had kept the passover outwardly in the past.
As often as ye eat "this" bread and drink "this" wine.... the wine is the Spirit..
I find it interesting that you were not to soppen the bread on passover, and yet when Jesus handed Judas the bread it was sopped.
thinking..
