In Genesis it talks about how Adam and Eve met with God during the "coolest part of the day".
Now if you are an outdoor sort of person then you know that this is usually at sunrise...
Because at sunrise the temperature dips a degree or two from the night.

In Israel it's light for at least an hour or so before the Sun breaks above the Golan Heights. It races across the desert after finally breaking above the Himalayas....but light is everywhere and it's similar to a rainy day.

But it was at Sunrise when Jacob Wrestled with God
It was at Sunrise when the walls of Jericho fell
It was at Sunrise when Gideon got answers and won his battle.
It was at Sunrise when the worm ate Jonah's vine.
It was at Sunrise when Israel won battles when beseiged
Daniel Got his answers at sunrise...and got out of the lion's cage.
AND
It was at Sunrise when the stone was rolled away....to let the people in.

Sunrise is the magic hour. It's when there's a whole lotta new world to deal with.

Are you ready for Sunrise?

Interesting imagery, thanks for that.

What is everybody doing tonight. Me, I'm just enjoying a normal Sunday night - reading, browsing and I may watch a recorded film later. I don't go for all the fuss. My own New Year starts the day after my birthday.

When I was in the church choir, many years ago, I did used to like going to the Christmas and New Year
midnight services.

Me and the Mrs also are having a quiet night at home...

We thought about a party...either going to one or hosting our own. But decided with the sewer line repair and us just barely catching up on the cleaning (and not really done yet) that we would forego it this year.

Got some OJ and champagne...got bacon and sausage...and other treats....

But decided that we need some rest.

We had a party when I lived in California in the year 2000 with the neighbors. It was a strange new year date. This year I will listen to the fireworks. We live near Native American Reservations where they sell fireworks to everyone. Everyone here lights off fireworks. But most of my night will be quiet with movies and relaxation. Cheers!

There will be fireworks here too, private ones and council ones. So I may open my bedroom window at midnight and look out.

When i was a girl there were no fireworks but we used to stand in the front porch and listen to the townhall clock strike the hour and then the bells would ring from the churches and the hooters would be sounded by the big ships and the tugs on the Manchester Ship Canal at the top of our road.

Then we would walk round the back and re-enter through the back door.

My wife is going to take an extra nap in order to be awake when the New Year begins for us in a little over nine hours from now.

My wife and I gave up going out on New Year's Eve when we encountered a drunk driver fish-tailing his way down Route 1, taking up both of the southbound lanes and one of the northbound ones.

Quiet night home. A little pasta with pesto...crusty bread and a nice salad. A little reading....t.v....my 'obligatory' New Year's texts at midnight, and then off to bed.

I live only a few miles north of the Strip in Las Vegas, so I'm sure I'll hear some fireworks.

Bring in 2024! Happy New Year to ALL!
