Apparently your religion believes Saturday sabbath makes ya'll righteous right?

(Let's try something new)

Yeah, we're noted for saying that Sabbath-keeping makes you grow strong bones and extra righteousness.

One cannot be in right standing before the Lord unless they keep Saturday sabbath which was given under the Law of Moses?

Well, I would say not any more so than worshipping God alone—including abstaining from the especially hateful practice of worshiping created things, revering His name, honoring our parents, preserving life, restricting romantic intimacy to heterosexual marriage, respecting property rights, being honest in thought and expression, and being content with what God provides would keep one "in right standing before the Lord" (I just love all these neo-Christian conventions).

He's got this hang up about Christians being required to keep Saturday sabbath... read all about it HERE

Oh, now, that's classy, BB.

Were you the guy who always told the teacher about people doing stuff in school?

What'll I do? They're on to me. They'll find me out!

Hey, is that the one where you asked seventeen challenge questions for Sabbatarians and then ran like France from the answers you said would never come?

.

He stalks me and smokes me out so I'm okay with addressing it here.

I still owe you a follow-up question on the "under the law" business. :)

.
I look forward to the follow up question, BUT, about the Sabbath question, I try to be careful to remain on topic, because I hate it so much when I have a thread and people INSIST on being off-topic, running away from the arguments.

That was back before I got saved, so I was the one doing the stuff in school and others narked on me because... they suffered from narcolepsy! laughing3.gif

You mean all those bogus, carnal minded, man made reasonings you thought were "refutations"?

It sounded more like comedy hour to me!

No matter how you slice it, Saturday sabbath is NOT the rest Jesus came to provide His people under the New Covenant which is based on better promises now that we are IN Christ and He is IN us.

Isaiah 66:17 _ in context _ is speaking specifically about Jerusalem (and present day Jews in the nation of Israel and also applicable to any Jews in the world as well).
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; Rom.2:12

Ten nations will be gathered against Jerusalem very soon ( Muslim nations). A remnant (1/3) Jewish population will be saved ( Rom.11) and the rest who are still living under the Law will be judged by the Law - which was only given to the Israelites.

Yes, Mark 7:
Great Scripture for this topic!

Mark 7
18“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.”(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

This is a definitive statement.

Any use of Scripture to deny this, makes the Bible contradict itself.

So how are we to understand Isaiah 66, to harmonize Mark 7 with Isaiah 66?

Isaiah was writing about the Israelites who were breaking Yahweh’s Law; about 200 years later, they were going to be exiled to Babylon.

Otherwise…. do we really want the Bible to contradict itself? That only happens when it’s misinterpreted….

Paul knew Isaiah 66, and still taught that he wasn't under Law, and that other Jewish believers weren't either (Ro 6:14, 7; Gal 2:19). It's an interesting question (how to reconcile Is 66 with Paul's teaching on being under Law, foods being clean, etc), but, since he knew the Scriptures, and still taught what he taught, I'm trusting his exegesis!

Exactly… Christians aren’t. The discussion over circumcision, recorded in Acts 15, resolved the bigger issue, re: adherence to the Mosaic Law, also.

Definitely, Gentile believers aren't--Gentiles never were held to those laws--so, the most anyone could argue from Isaiah 66 would be that Jewish believers would be bound to keep those dietary laws... and there would be ample NT teaching to the contrary.
