I tend to agree… however I was just listening to a man who wanted to do something good before he blew his brains out…. So he gave a homeless man some money, and the homeless man said God loves you… Perhaps he speaks to us through others also.

God does speak to us through others. I have several testimonies about that happening.

One time my online friend from a forum that I used to bible study together with called me and told me Ed I dont know what this is all about but God told me to tell you to give your business to your son and move to Ohio. (I instantly rejected this thought in my mind). But then he continued to talk and he mentioned several personal things to me that God told him and he didnt even understand why. But I did. The man had no way of knowing what he told me. I've never met him and only know him from online. He did not know intimate details of my life! But he sat there and told me. That was my confirmation from God that this message was real and from Him. So here I am in Ohio.

Another time, I was experiencing a run of financial bad luck. Bad enough for me to start praying about it. So I started praying about it and a few days later I wake up and the phone rings. It's an area code from Florida. Something told me to answer anyway. I answered it and a stranger tells me that God gave Him my number and said to tell me that my financial situation will improve if I do (this). No one in florida knows my poor financial situation, lol. He was a stranger. So God most certainly does talk to us through other people.

I used to hear God all the time like that and he sounds a lot just like my wife, lol. (J/K).

That is fair… For even the Bible says we must experience certain things..

Here is the scripture you can use friend…

Romans 12:2And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God.

Good Translation you used there!

Let’s lay a correct foundation… We know God speaks to people through others…

Acts 2 Pentecost day…

We also have a prophetic word concerning…

Matthew 10:20
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

I was trying to convey the thought as simple as possible… But if we want to be technical… we are discussing “experience”

The scripture reads…

You will see the word δοκιμάζειν is to prove to test.

dokimazo: I put to the test, prove, examine
Original Word: δοκιμάζω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: dokimazo
Phonetic Spelling: (dok-im-ad'-zo)
Definition: to test, by implication to approve
Usage: I put to the test, prove, examine; I distinguish by testing, approve after testing; I am fit.

Do we need to go further?

That's a good point and I do agree with you. I do wonder how many arent getting it though.

Lord knows I don’t get a lot of things… But I believe there is a season for everything, and we will understand what we are intended to understand when it’s time to understand it, if God wills so.

That's the thing about experience. The man with the experience in never at the mercy of the man with a doctrine.
Very interesting comment. Thanks,
Should experience be balanced or evaluated against something?

I believe so…. It’s should definitely be weighed against anything that would make said experience null and void.

I don’t care how long grandma has been boxing and working out.. if you put her in the ring with me, her experience means nothing.

While the mystery of babies in the womb baffles scientists. I believe that a soul is given when a woman conceived. That soul which is created is given by Yahava. Babies somehow breathe inside of a human, that is the breath of life given by God to create the soul, which I believe Yahava knows about.

Not so sure “in the womb I created and knew you” I think that is representative of that prophet at the time.
God hated Esau before he was born.

Bullseye. I agree. God gave us the spirit of life and when it mixed with the body in the way He designed it, (a soul was created?) and attached to the spirit to become the living soul.

So. Question. The spirit of life is indeed within the oxygenated air that we breath, if it leaves it takes the soul with it and the body dies within minutes, we know that. So did God give us an unconscious breath/spirit? How could he be unconscious?! Lol.

Animals have the spirit of life within them. They breath! But their design is is different so there is no living soul brought forth at birth, just a spirit.

Our Soul is who we are making ourselves. Our soul entered this world like a blank chalk board and all of the actions that we do write on the chalk board. The soul and the spirit are the two wolves who fight in the cherokee proverb. Which one wins? The one you feed. Good wolf/Bad wolf.

A childs first seven years of life they are programming their subconscious to be able to function. The young ones are always watching and if their not watching, they're listening! They take in everything ike a sponge.

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. And, As a man thinks in his heart, so is he as a man...So those who have been feeding the bad wolf for entertainment or whatever are programming their heart to darkness. The darker the heart, the darker will be the imagination.

The battleground is our mind. Our spirit and our soul is at battle to control the flesh!
Our spirit is conscious, he has to be because the Holy Bears Witness with man's spirit, right? That means Holy Spirit talks to our spirit. And our carnal mind does not get to listen in or hear it!

Soul is mind (carnal), will and emotions and logical and scientific and all that worldy stuff, lol. But our spirit will talk to our soul through our conscience. And since our spirit is in direct contact with Holy Spirit, he always knows what to do the best way. Do the right thing. Do the better thing.

So when you hear voices in your head pay attention to who is speaking! It's easy to tell them apart. The carnal mind talks like a punk and my spirit talks like my well intentioned friend.

I wonder if the guys in white coats are outside yet? Lol.

I have had the Lord do supernatural things right in front of me. There was no other answer except...God. And my stupid carnal mind saw everything too and he will still argue and try to instill doubt that, oh that wasnt really God, God doesn't do those things.

I'm learning to get away from identifying with my carnal self and identifying with my spirit man who has regular conversations with Holy Spirit. I'm not a sinner dirty rotten scoundrel. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. That is where I meet Christ. In spirit.

Be led by the spirit is what the scripture says. Not by the soul. Dont be carnal at all.

Actuaaly carnal doesnt mean definitely bad. It means of the 5 senses! I love forcing my soul into subjection to my spirit man! It feels satisfying. (Fasting is an easy way to do that!)
We can keep it very simple. The words "a living soul" is nothing but the conscious thoughts of our human brain, aka mind. There is nothing eternal about any of it.

However, the brain/mind of Jesus is Eternal, and if that were not enough, it's also immortal, ever since His resurrection and ascension.

Therefore, to literally "have the mind of Christ" is absolutely true, because it is by His Holy Spirit (mind) whereby He does literally dwell within us.

The Greek word for Repent has two understandings, in the Textus Receptus Greek Text (KJV):
1. Metanoia- to change one's own mind.
2. Metanoeo- to have another mind.

1. For all who "have a form of godliness", and are NOT born again by the Holy Spirit, the best that they can do, having no other option, is to repent (metanoia) by changing their own mind only, which is NOT acceptable by God for their salvation, due to the fact of NOT having the indwelling presence of God's Holy Spirit.

2. For all who are Born Again by the Holy Spirit, they have "another" mind, which is that form of repentance (metaneo) that is acceptable by God for their salvation, due to the fact of HAVING the indwelling presence of God's Holy Spirit.

Such is the Holy Spirit's understanding of the parable of "The ten virgins". Mat. 25:1-13.

Okay, how to explain God hating Esau? Are you sure it was before he was born? And why do you bring this up to me?

Thanks for deciding to comment, just deciding to share my thoughts.

The spirit is the intellect of the soul… If your soul is destroyed your spirit goes with it.
Not even. If you even had a glimmer of what a tripartite being is you could not say this.

Or dont you believe Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This remarkable passage in Hebrews 4:12 clearly sets forth the distinction between soul and spirit, the need of the “dividing ” of one from the other and the means whereby this is done, so that the believer may become a truly ” spiritual ” man, living “according to ‘God in the spirit” ... In meaning it must be considered with 1 Peter 4:5-6...5. but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

Where our triune being is unmistakable in 1 Thes 5:23 ...And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to distinguish our body from our spirit or even from our soul, because the body is the part of us that’s visible and contacts the physical, tangible realm. With the body, we contact the physical realm. With our spirit, or heart, we contact the spiritual realm. And with our soul—including our mind, will, and emotions—we contact the intellectual and emotional realms.

I grant you that distinguishing our spirit, or heart, from our soul is much more difficult to distinguish between because they are intangible, unseen parts of our being. But it is vitally important that we learn how to correctly distinguish between the two. If we don’t, we won’t be able to successfully listen to our heart and be led by the Holy Spirit in the situations and circumstances of life.

It is Hebrews 4:12 that shows us not only that the spirit and soul are separate entities, but that they can be divided or distinguished. It is proof.

I can explain it. God did not hate Esau. God prefered Jacob. That is a more accurate translation from the original language.

Liking one brother over his brother for any reason is a normal thing we do.
Sometimes we like one sister more than the other. That's just prefrence and there's nothing mean about it. Our heart just told us, that one is the good one. That doesnt even necessarily mean that the other is bad. It's just that the other is preferred.

I dont think there's anything thats intellectual about the spirit. The intellectual part of us arises from the soul where the mind will & emotions are.

Our spirit does not intellectualize anything. It simply knows. Our spirit is in direct contact with God the Holy Spirit and He will lead us ito all truth, so our spirit has all truth. Our spirit is composed of conscience, intuition and fellowship.

Our soul is comprised of our mind, will, and emotions. It's our carnal mind that is the one who is logical and intellectualizes everything.

Our soul will take a truth from the spirit and intellectualize it into a lie. My soul has witnessed miracles and will still argue, that wasnt God, it's a coincidence. Lightning strikes a lot of people! (like an arrogant idiot!)

I dont believe in co-incidences.
I do believe in God-incidences.

SO all those people who get struck by lightning every year...that's God shaking their world in an effort to get them to cry out unto Him! It seems like the entire world is shaking right now, you thnk?

Who the heck are you suppose to be…..you come rolling in with feathered insults, really not saying much of anything… Look at your post, blah blah blah… I discuss scripture, not lonely old lady interpretations.. Now when you understand every word of the following get back to me.

The word ruach occurs 389 times in the Hebrew O.T. n the A.V. it is rendered spirit in 237 passages (and no other word is rendered spirit except neshamah, "breath", in Job 26:4 and Prov. 20:27. See Ap. 16). In the remaining 152 places it is translated in 22 different ways, which are to be carefully distinguished.

[In the R.V. ruach is rendered spirit 224 times, and in the remaining 165 passages is rendered in many different ways.] The meaning of the word is to be deduced only from its usage. The one root idea running through all the passages is invisible force. As this force may be exerted in varying forms, and may be manifested in divers ways, so various renderings are necessitated, corresponding thereto.

Ruach, in whatever sense it is used, always represents that which is invisible except by its manifestations. These are seen both externally to man, as well as internally within man. As coming from God, it is the invisible origin of life. All apart from this is death. It comes from God, and returns to God (Ecc. 3:19, 20). Hence, ruach is used of :

  1. GOD,
as being invisible. "The Spirit of Jehovah" is Jehovah Himself, in His manifestation of invisible power.

Were We Alive In Heaven Before We Were Born?

"When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter the Kingdom.”

A man came banging loudly on the church door, “let me in, let me in! I want to know this heaven! Let me in”, to which he heard through the door… “but if we let you in it wouldn’t be heaven.”

Bullseye, and we told to look to the unseen part. We are told do not live for the flesh.

Did you confuse the spirit with our heart a little there? Our heart can be evil or it can be good. Our heart can touch both spiritual realm and the physical realm. When you touch someone with love in the physical realm, they usually have a profound reaction, right?

We're spirit/soul/body but that's not all either as we know. Spirit and soul do battle to control the flesh, and if the spirit wins, the will of God is then done! Be led by the spirit.
The heart must be some sort of intermediary device which is both spiritual and physical.

So we have to strive to think and act positive, within the will of God. And that will take all of our imagination. And if we need to stir up our imagination, we go to the word of God.

We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. We are in Christ and Christ is in us. Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Him. And they have come to make their abode with me. It's getting crowded in my spirit, huh? But that one guy in scripture had a Legion of spirits within him. So spirits can merge in the spirit realm, and do.

Get this! (it is written), Not only is the Father, son and Holy Spirit inside of me, but He also goes before me to clear the way. He is also my rear guard. I believe it also says that He stands beside me. So when I leave the house, I have a spiritual entourage with me!

Or dont you believe Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

That's an excellant passage. We could do a whole thread on just that verse.

It says that the word of God can divide the spirit and soul. Maybe that means when we know enough of the word that He will show us how to do it and why we should. Maybe it makes the spirit dominant within ourselves...once we have enough of God's word written upon our heart in another level that we are now. Like that much closeness to God is revealed in Theology 505 but right now we are in Theology 101, lol. ?? I don't know. It does translate form Logos so it is talking about the written word of God. We shal write it upon our hearts through study. We have to develop our spirit. Do we know how to feed our spirit? Our body takes food and drink. Our soul takes anything. Or spirit is fed by the word of God, the Logos. So feeding the good wolf within us is reading the word of God, meditating on the word of God,

Joshua 1:8-9
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success..../

Psalm 1:2, Psalm 119:15, Psalm 103:34

That's a hungry wolf, our spirit!

The words meditate in those passages all translate from the Hebrew word Yetser and it means our Imagination. It even says we will meditate with our hearts upon His word.

But so many people are starving their spirit because they refuse to read His word. Oh they will feed their soul (the bad wolf) with...movies, video games, entertainment, worldly pursuits, and way too much TV. That's feeding the wrong wolf! No wonder your not healed. No wonder you've never seen a miracle. No wonder you can hear God's voice!

Feed your spirit! The word of God. Read. Your. Bible.
