You just proved my point. I know exactly how you feel because you shared it with me in a hateful private msg. So you can get off your high horse now.

.
Could you tell me how I made your point? In your previous message, you generalized about a supposed class of people who called "most Christians" as if you actually knew what most Christians think. You said this in a Marxist thread, purporting to teach "Christians" about what LGBTQ+ people think.

In your latest post, you suddenly decide to treat me as an individual, talking about my "hateful" private msg. But since your post was critical of my objection to your treatment of "most Christians," claiming to know what they think when you don't, you implicitly condemn "most Christians" of being hateful, identifying me as typical of the entire class.

The problem here is the use of overgeneralization to impugn Christians as a group. I'm puzzled by how you don't see this.

Your hate bores me and I don't feel like going another round with your wildly analytical criticism of folks who don't agree with you.

A problem I see here is that you are bluntly distinguishing yourself as a nuanced thinker in contrast with people you don't know as being incapable of nuanced thinking, which is bound to come off to most folks as arrogant elitism on your part. Good luck at effective communication here. You'll get a few votes from someone, most likely—maybe even a longstanding female poster.

.
Yes, the truth hurts. Of course, the fluff heads trapped in their Never Got Out of Vacation Bible School thinking are free to hurl all the insults they want, at the infantile level of calling people who have been Christians for decades "not Christians at all," huge segments of Christendom being "Satanic cults" and, as we see here, the homosexual issue being a simple matter of "repent and change who you are or go to hell."

Percentage-wise, O'Darby is doing better on votes than you - if that's your strange criterion of effectiveness. :) Is calling yourself Barney Fife an expression of your deep modesty? Maybe I'll change my name to Gomer and enhance my image.

The beauty of being O'Darby is that I know my intellectual abilities, don't suffer from false modesty and am too old to give a bean what anyone thinks. I've been around the forum block at least 100 times - trolling for "Likes" is not really my thing.

Alas, the state of the world today - and CERTAINLY the state of internet forums, and even MORE CERTAINLY the state of religious forums - is such that moderate intelligence, rationality and logic is inevitably viewed as "arrogant elitism." So I'm quite candid about the fact that I write for myself and the few who may "get it."

Tra-la-la.

Nip it in the bud, Barney, nip it in the bud! This is sounding suspiciously like arrogant elitism.

Well...
They SHOULD be!
Glad we can be an example of what (reasonably) mature Christianity looks like.
I appreciate you. (they hate me, but I don't care) As long as I have Barney, I'm good. - LOL

... and am too old to give a bean what anyone thinks.
One of the benefits of getting old. - LOL

Recently a 100 year old man was interviewed. They asked...
"What's the best thing about being 100 years old?"
The old-timer replied: "That's easy. - No peer pressure!"

Is there a better way to frame it?
I wrote: "the church, and Christians". The institutions and individuals.

Or is the finger pointing the problem?
I want them to understand what they have done and are doing.
And it ain't good.

"And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." - Matthew 22:39 NIV

To which the church replies:

"But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” - Luke 10:29 NIV

LGBTQ is the Samaria of today. The hated neighbor. WWJD?

I thought Jesus told them to leave the Samaritans alone? Not because the of the people, whom He did love, but because of their gods they served and their wicked ways. But the Samaritans were victimes in that, the must have been under a lot of demonic oppression?

Much like the gbt'ers today. They really are victims in this but not quite in the way you would think. It is simply demonic oppression that entices humans to turn gay. There is the victimization. It is not the Christians that are victimizing the gays. Christians can see past the gayism to a man who needs help and rescued and with love and compassion for them, will help them towards repentance and a saving knowledge of the Savior and Lord, Jesus.

The problem arises when punk non repentant gays try to use the conviction of truth within them as a reason to "be offended at the christians". That's a lame tactic and not true. When all the time it is the Lord that they hate because they are comfortable in their sins. When those guys get mouthy with christians...you guys should expect a little less than niceness from irratated christian Brothers in response. After all, we are not perfect, so they should be a little more polite.

Christians didnt make the rules. So their difficulties with their agenda is between them and God. You cant ask christians to understand the plight of the poor gays when from the get-go, they re engaged in abomidable sinful behaviors. That is asking us to give them a pass and dont treat being gay as wrong any more, when it clearly is.

its amazing when people attack other believers for calling out sin for what it is, sin, and saying we are unloving

This, to humble old me, is such a weirdly parochial perspective. At least seven major surviving religions are older - far older - than Christianity. Some, like Hinduism, are much older than Judaism. This does not include the highly sophisticated religions that have come and gone - the Ancient Egyptians, Sumerians and others. They were and are all "false" and "of the devil himself"? God just sort of twiddled His thumbs as they evolved and expanded? The Holy Spirit is completely absent in all of them? Many of their moral precepts are essentially identical to Christianity, but they are all false and evil? Ho-kay, I understand your answer is yes, but I am incapable of viewing the Creator as quite such an ineffecual Doofus.

Jesus may indeed be the only way to heaven, if He actually said what the Gospel of John has Him saying. The fact is, neither you nor I has any idea what that actually means or how it actually works. Your view, it seems to humble old me, manages to turn the Good News into the Rather Hideous News, but we all believe what we are capable of believing.

I'm a friend to all who will have me, but I would emphasize the "reasonably" part. There's a few other people I get along with pretty well here, but you're just fun!

VERY!
I hope you ruin it with mayonnaise. - LOL

Bacon would be good on that. (snicker)

Why ruin perfectly unwholesome swine's flesh with avocado mash? (snortle)

I do enjoy a good retaliatory, salutary flogging early in the morning.
In law school, we actually had a class in Retaliatory Flogging. Yep, Contracts, Torts and Retaliatory Flogging. Not only did I do well, but I then had 40 years of practice to hone my snarkiness.
