The United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) is a Oneness Pentecostal denomination headquartered in Weldon Spring, Missouri. The United Pentecostal Church International was formed in 1945 by a merger of the former Pentecostal Church, Inc. and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ.

The United Pentecostal Church International began with 521 churches and has grown to more than 45,000 churches, including daughter works and preaching points, 45,000 ministers, and a total constituency of over 5.8 million worldwide, making it the largest Oneness denomination.[3] The international fellowship of United Pentecostals consists of national organizations that are united as the Global Council of the UPCI,which is chaired by the general superintendent of the UPCI, currently David K. Bernard. (Source Wikipedia)

Hello Triumph, and long time no talking to.

I have a UPC guy over at my home forum and he's a pretty heavy poster. I could potentially direct him here. Why were you asking?

My in-laws denomination that we visit at times. Some of the best church music out there.

I'm not fond of some of their doctrines, but I have to say, the ones I've met I kinda liked. There were some American Indian UPCs that I knew when I was living in some apartments back about 20 years ago, and they were really good guys.

Thank you for your intriguing post.

Question: if I were visiting various denominational churches looking for a spiritual home, what differentiates UPC from Baptists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, . . . ?

Blessings.

Well....the reason is I don't see any postings on the forum about them.
I did attend some of their services once and awhile and I find their worship awesome. Very lively music and people are very friendly and open towards visitors. I know there is "long hair". "skirts on women" which does not bother me one bit. But I also saw lots of ladies in "casual clothing", so that was not an issue. I know there is the "baptism in the Name of Jesus only" issue for some people, personally I don't care about that either. I saw them laying hands on people, praying for the sick, etc.....always lots of people up front at the end of the services. Lots of dynamic preachers as well. Some people classify them "a cult". I disagree.

That can not be answered in a few posts for sure.
Main issue probably the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.

It was with them that I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I remained with them and a couple of other groups very similar to them for eleven years [1976 to 1987].

When I was among them there was an American Indian evangelist who used to visit our assembly periodically. We always looked forward to his visits as he was definitely on God's side and presented a great anointed message.

Same experience I have with Baptists, Presbyterians, Anglicans and others.

Yes, this is true. There is right and wrong doctrine and the truth needs to be defended, but I don't think the Lord looks down with the same judgemntalism as some practice, to where He eliminates entire denominations full of people from His consideration just because they have a few doctrines off.

If they have leaders who go completely off the deep end, yes. That's a problem. But I think He accounts for human error better than we do.
