Fact is, you have not shown anything about how the woman that dresses in purple and scarlet
She dresses in the finery and riches she has gleaned from the nations
, carries a gold cup in her hand
The antithesis of the prophet Elijah's cup set at the seder. Her cup symbolizes the false teaching and prophecy she has used to delude the nations

and sits on seven mountains
She sits on the 7 kingdoms. Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome, revived Rome. She controls all that was once under their realm, until the eighth! The "eighth" is revived Greece which shall destroy her:

Rv 17:11-16 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

You need to get your memory checked. This is from one of your past posts in response to me...
Because it's dumb. It would be a dumb thing to say.
The first cause is God, yes. But man, because of the new spirit God has given him, then chooses correctly. Yes, thank God that God does do that, because otherwise no one would be saved. Who then can be saved? Jesus says, "What is impossible with man is possible with God.” But to turn that into "God forces people to be saved" is just stupid. That's just a dumb thing to say.
LOL!

I said this in response to your... question... to me regarding why I can't admit something. You said (and I quote), "...your doctrine gives them an excuse. Why can't you admit that?" And my response to that was that if I said that, that would be a dumb thing for me to say. That had absolutely nothing to do with you, but only my refusal to say something dumb. Goodness gracious. So, what I will say in reverence to you (as I did before, but not in so many words), is that your assertion that "(my) doctrine gives them an excuse," while not dumb, is without merit.

Again, goodness gracious Try again, if you want. Wow.

Fact is...
Opinion (yours) is...

...you have not shown anything about how the woman that dresses in purple and scarlet, carries a gold cup in her hand and sits on seven mountains describes the conclusion of your opinion. No Biblical support.
See above (Post #694). I have, but not to your satisfaction, obviously, which is, too bad, I guess, but it is what it is.

Grace and peace to you.

LOL!

I said this in response to your... question... to me regarding why I can't admit something ~ "why can't you admit Paul said they are without excuse for exchanging the truth about God that they knew for a lie."And my response to that was that if I said that, that would be a dumb thing for me to say. That had absolutely nothing to do with you, but only my refusal to say something dumb.
LOL! Who are you trying to fool here? This means you are saying you refuse to admit and agree with what I believe which you say is "something dumb".

Goodness gracious. So, your assertion that "(my) doctrine gives them an excuse," while not dumb, is without merit.

Again, goodness gracious Try again, if you want. Wow.

LOL!

You are so dishonest. Here is what else I said in response that you were responding to:

I said:
...God alone chooses who will be saved or not, so that puts the responsibility in salvation completely in God's hands.

You interpretation of what I was saying is that you believe God forces people to be saved and you said that idea is "stupid" and "dumb". So, you were calling my statement "stupid" and "dumb". Who do you think you're fooling with your dishonesty here?

Goodness gracious. Wow.

You are so dishonest.
Nope.

Your interpretation of the point I was making was that God forces people to be saved...
Ah, stop right there. Again, I will say that holding that God "forces anyone to be saved," insinuating such a thing to be true, or asserting that I hold such a position either inadvertently or intentionally is without merit altogether.

...and you said that idea that you thought I believed and that you were refuting is stupid and dumb.
It had absolutely nothing to do with you.

Who do you think you're fooling with your dishonesty here?
You're obviously fooling yourself. Or... trying to turn the tables ~ dishonestly ~ because you're so concerned with how others see or perceive your character, I guess.

Again, cheers.

Grace and peace to you.

How do you not know how you came across? You thought that is what I was saying you believe and you basically said that idea, which you thought was coming from me about your belief, was a dumb thing to say.

You're obviously fooling yourself. Or... trying to turn the tables ~ dishonestly ~ because you're so concerned with how others see or perceive your character, I guess.
Don't blame me for how you came across. You basically said it would be "dumb" and "stupid" to believe the things that you thought I was saying that you believe. How does that not imply that you thought what I was claiming about your beliefs was "dumb" and "stupid", which implies that you were calling my comments "dumb" and "stupid"?

How do you not know how you came across?
I can't help what you read ~ misread, I guess ~ into any comment I make. And even then, it seems that before you would jump to such a conclusion, you would ask me to clarify. But, at this point, you have no idea how much I don't care.

Don't blame me for how you came across.
I can't blame you for your perceptions... or misperceptions, as the case may be.

You basically said...
Ah, there it is... "basically"... so you're putting words into my mouth. Yeah, that's really uncool. And surely something I don't do to other people. And a really good reason to end this.

Grace and peace to you, Spiritual Israelite.

Probably as much as I don't care to continue this pointless discussion.

Not intending to put words in your mouth. Just telling you how your comments came across. But, go ahead and be offended that I misread your comments as if you've never misread mine. What a waste of time it is talking to you. I'm not doing it ever again. Bye. See you in heaven some day where I would hope we can get along much better than we do here.

She dresses in the finery and riches she has gleaned from the nations

Sounds like the Church of Rome.
The antithesis of the prophet Elijah's cup set at the seder. Her cup symbolizes the false teaching and prophecy she has used to delude the nations
Revelation 17
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

She sits on the 7 kingdoms. Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome, revived Rome. She controls all that was once under their realm, until the eighth! The "eighth" is revived Greece which shall destroy her:

Rv 17:11-16 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

All the world kingdoms were under the sun who is Nimrod.

I looked at post #694 and there was nothing in it regarding the woman dressing in purple and scarlet.

Revelation 17
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Make cakes to the queen of heaven. The cakes are the host, and the queen of heaven is what Mary is called.

Jeremiah 7
18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

Jeremiah 44
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

Mystery Babylon is the Church of Rome which has taken the religion of Babylon and merged it into Christianity.

You see the obelisk and the sun wheel in St Peters Square.

Sounds like a seminary Historicist view. Their view is just another of many doctrines of men. Easier to stick to the written Scripture...

1. Revelation 17 is describing both the idea of a beast kingdom, and the idea of its beast king.

2. The 7 kings mentioned in Rev.17:10 are linked to the "beast" king mentioned in verses 8 and 11.

3. The "beast" king of Rev.17:8 and 11 is described as ascending out of the bottomless pit, and goes into perdition (i.e., cast into the future "lake of fire"). This can only mean Satan, for he is the king and angel over the bottomless pit per Rev.9:11.

4. Rev.17:10 reveals 5 previous beast kings of history, most likely the kings of ancient Babylon, Egypt, Assyria, Greece, Roman.

5. In Rev.17:10, John then said the 6th beast king was in his day. This was the Roman emperor Domitian (circa 96 A.D.), which was witnessed by one of the early Church fathers as being in power when Apostle John was prisoner on the Isle of Patmos. (See writings of early Church fathers Irenaeus, Victorinus, Jerome, Eusebius.)

6. In Rev.17:10, John then says the 7th beast king is not yet come. This 7th beast king has to be the final Antichrist for the end of this present world over the Rev.13:1 beast kingdom.

7. The 8th beast king of Rev.17:11 is tied to that beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit, and goes into perdition (i.e., Satan). Satan is "of the seven" previous beast kings because the ROLE of 'beast king' began with Satan's original rebellion and fall in the old world.

All beast kings after Satan's fall represent what Satan did in wanting to be God at his original fall. This is how the 8th beast king (Satan), is also of... the seven other beast kings. It's about the ROLE of beast king that originated with Satan's fall. The Revelation 12:3-4 Scripture about the beast kingdom of ten horns, seven heads, but only seven crowns, setup by the "red dragon" (Satan), and having drawn a third of the angels to earth in rebellion with him, was at the time of Satan's original fall, and thus confirms this matter. This then points to the 8th beast king role being that by Satan after Christ's future "thousand years" reign, per Revelation 20:7-10.

8. Per Rev.17:8, the reason why those who dwell on earth shall 'wonder' at that beast king that ascends out of the bottomless pit and goes into perdition, is because it will be Satan himself, on earth, in person, in our earthly dimension, working the great signs, wonders, and miracles that Lord Jesus and His Apostles warned the Church about for the end of this world.

9. All... of the popular seminary doctrines of men - Preterism, Historicism, Futurism, Dispensationalism, Hyper-Dispensationalism, etc., are designed to steer the Bible student away from realizing the previous 8 points, and especially that 8th point.

I looked at post #694 and there was nothing in it regarding the woman dressing in purple and scarlet.
I did say ~ and this should be sufficient ~ that the woman is adorned with the false royalty of this world (biblically, purple is the color of royalty), and scarlet ; as you probably know, the Romans, in taking Jesus to His crucifixion, dressed Jesus in a purple robe, mocking His claim to be King of the Jews. In the same vein, scarlet is the color of sacrifice, and really symbolizes the sacrifice of our High Priest, Jesus, ultimately. In the Old Testament, only the Levitical priesthood could enter the Tabernacle's Holy of Holies and make atonement on behalf of the Israelites.

Regarding Revelation 17, though, the woman in Revelation 17 ~ again, the Prostitute ~ "sits on a scarlet beast" (Revelation 17:3), which is to say that the Prostitute and the Beast cooperate. In the Roman Empire, the idolatry of imperial power (the Beast) undergirded the idolatry of pleasure and wealth (the Prostitute). So yes, the woman is dressed in the ostentatious garb of a prostitute and thus combines the lure of sexual pleasure with the lure of luxury and sensual pleasures of all kind. The golden cup looks good on the outside, but inside it has "abominable things and the filth of her adulteries" (Revelation 17:4). And she is called "Babylon" (Revelation 17:5), indicating the essential unity of all manifestations of the "worldly city" ~ including Babel of Genesis 11, Belshazzar’s Babylon of Daniel 5 and Jeremiah 50-51, imperial Rome of 1 Peter 5, the seven cities of Asia of Revelation 1, papal Rome, and even all modern worldly cities. All these manifestations can be and are rolled together, because the principle is the same; the kingdom of God is opposed by the kingdom of this world (Revelation 11:15; 11:8). Yes, purple and scarlet are ordained by God in the Old Testament, particularly in the Pentateuch, but... well, to put it kindly, misappropriated and misused... defiled, actually... by worldly powers that be. So the fact that the Roman Catholic Church reveres the colors purple and scarlet... Well, I'll just leave it at that...

Grace and peace to you.
