In the OT, God said do not eat the pork.

In the OT declares pork unclean,
and I once puzzled over this 'uncleanness'—
until I learned how modern swine
are pumped full of hormones and aphrodisiac drugs.

Now I wonder: when we eat such flesh,
does it stir unnatural lust within us?
Perhaps this is the very defilement
God warned against in His wisdom.

How,do,you think about it?

It isn't just pigs that are pumped full of toxins. It's beef too- know where your food comes from.
This is a problem with all of our food- It is the greed of the farmers and the government control over them. Many vegetables are grown in glycosphates (round up) and then drenched with it after harvest to prevent sprouting! GMO food are toxic.
Pork in and of itself is not evil- all food is now clean in God's eyes.
Even our milk when pasteurized is terrible for digestion.
Just do your best to be educated and find a farmer who is ethical and organic/pastured to purchase from. I am fortunate to live near many.
Grown your own if you can- raise chickens- it's not hard. If you can't, then look for farmers- many deliver to your door.
Always pray over your food- giving thanks and asking for blessings of safe foods and never stress.

Pork tast like humans, they claim.

Pork goes off faster back in the days of only Salt to keep it, so it does not keep as well, as with Shrimp etc !

The Male Pig tast like crap.
Not to mention Pork can tast really nice some times and to average or crappy rubbish at times. I do not eat it if it tast crappy. can smell it cooking that it's crappy.

So I think it's a touchy type of food that one has to look out for, just as with some types of Fish at times of the year, your stupid to eat such and fish without scails you eat only fresh ! do not keep in the freezer as the skin goes off and the flesh tast like crap then.

God set teh dietary restrictions for the simple reason He wanted Israel to be different.

Jesus ended the prohibition on eating pork, shellfish, scaleless fish etc. Believers are free to eat what we want except blood.

Some animals seem to have been declared unclean for symbolic reasons. In my opinion many others were unclean for heath reasons that the ancient Israelites would have been ignorant about. For example swine are filthy animals full of parasites. If you don't cook it properly it will make you sick.

Now they have been declared clean with everything else the Lord has made clean.

One cannot compare the OT Laws of Moses with today's culture. In Col 2:16.."Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:" these Laws of Moses do not need to be heeded. Even in the OT, the gentiles did not heed these laws of God.

Since the Bible is not talking about modern day farming practices, (horrendous as they may be in some countries) the classification of pork as an “unclean meat” as with other “unclean” creatures, must have had a different meaning.
Now I wonder: when we eat such flesh,
does it stir unnatural lust within us?

Or there could be another explanation….
We see a classification of animals in God’s instructions to Noah to take with him into the ark….seven of each clean animal.….and two of each unclean animal. (Gen 7:2-3; 8-9)
Since the eating of animal flesh had not yet been authorized, this distinction between clean and unclean animals was probably determined on the basis of what was acceptable to Jehovah as a sacrifice. There were thus, two breeding pairs of the clean animals and one for sacrifice.

On coming out of the ark, Noah already knew which creatures were clean and suitable for offering upon the altar. (Gen 8:20) At that time no restriction existed with respect to the type of animals that Noah and his family could eat, as is indicated by Jehovah’s words: “Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you.” (Gen 9:3)

God’s law to the Israelites introduced a new distinction when it classified certain animals as clean and fit for food, and others as unclean and prohibited as food.
The scriptures were quite specific. (Lev 11:13; Deut 14:3-6)
Such restrictions were not enforced on gentile converts to Christianity, as they were to Jewish proselytes.
How,do,you think about it?
Since we do not have to sacrifice animals anymore, and there is no such dietary restrictions for gentiles, it is apparent that we can now eat whatever animal flesh is common in our respective countries. The recommendation was not to overindulge in either wine or the eating of meat. (Prov 23:20)

Yes, we are free to eat what we want. We are also free to divorce each other and we are free to jump off cliffs. Hallelujah to freedom but don't leave your intelligence behind....there are consequences to all our choices.

Yes there is. I am 70 years old. I have eaten American pork for 65 or more years. I suffer no ill effects. If one chooses to eat praise God! I fone for whatever reason wishes not to eat, Praise God!

that's almost correct Acts 15:29 instructs Gentile Christians to abstain from four things: food sacrificed to idols, blood, meat from strangled animals, and sexual immorality.
So... Everything can be assumed safe besides poultry (and rare steak)? This is a new view I haven't thought of.

I take the view that most 'food' we purchase through regular outlets are affected by poisons of some sort. What do I do about it? I take calculated risks on some items.

I think the health laws regarding unclean and clean in Leviticus 11 are worth taking note of......and here I am in the golden years getting around spritely and no medications. I put that down to a large extent of being mindful of what I have made a habit over decades, what to ingest and what not ingest.

I guess there's no problem then with having some meth as a side dish!

I might ask why the most necessary things would include both things strangled, and blood

Acts 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

1Sam 14:32 And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.

The latter you can show with blood, but I have yet to find an example of things strangled, unless I am missing it

And here are some more bloody stuff out of the mouth

Prov 12:6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood
