I will jump into this.
The teaching of Christ that illustrates the natural seed or children are nothing without the
spiritual seed, which is
Christ. Being born the Spiritual seed is foolishness because Scripture is clear we "become" the Spiritual children
through Christ. And being born the seed would be natural, of the flesh and not the spirit, because without going through the regeneration or genesis in Christ, we "cannot" be true children of God. What some neglect is that we are only the seed because of Christ's work in us. Without that, we are not the true seed. For example, the Jews were the natural seed of the woman, but that natural seed was flesh and was not permanent. This is proven to faithful Christians by the "fact" that they were cast off as children because of (Romans 11:20) unbelief. But the seed wherein we are actually "made" the undissolvable seed, and indivisible from Him as children of God, is Christ. That is the "only" seed of the woman that is a permanent body. That is the "only" true seed of promise. That is the "only" true seed of Abraham wherein we are saved.
Galatians 3:29
- "And IF ye be Christ's, THEN are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
"If and then" are Conditional Statements. If you are born again, regenerated, sealed, saved, a new creature, a new nature, "THEN" and only then are you the seed and heirs of God's promise. Then and only then are you true children of God. Without qualification, we know that we're not the seed from birth,
except that birth be the new birth in Christ after we are born again from above. God unambiguously says that. So the only seed of the woman that means anything is the Seed that regenerates us and that will never leave us. When Christ says I am with you always, THAT is the "Seed" that REMAINS in us from the time of salvation. That is the "only Seed" that makes us true children of God.
1st John 3:8-9
- "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
- Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
The Word of God is our proof, not the words of men. And God's word says that all who sin are of the Devil, which WE all were before we were born of God. This truth is abundantly clear. We don't have to listen to the nonsense that we weren't of the Devil, God says we were and we are constrained to listen to His word.
#1. God says whosoever commits sin is of the Devil.
#2. God says whoever says they do not commit sin is a liar (Romans 11:20), but to confess sin is to have forgiveness.
#3. But God says that when we are born again of the spirit, we do not commit sin.
So that means when we become saved is the only time that we are NOT of the Devil as #1 illustrates. And God tells us why. It is because that is when His Seed (Christ) remains in us so that by virtue of His efficacy, we can no longer sin. That effectively ends the discussion and false teaching that we were already the seed and children while we were dead in trespass and sin, of the Devil, and unrighteous before we were born again.
