The baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues is one of the three baptisms that are for all.

Having a prayer language whereby your spirit prays is a blessing that is for all the church.

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Acts 1:4-5

  • for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit

Here are two of the three baptisms mentioned in this verse.
John baptized Israel with water for the remission of their sins. Paul doesn't command us to be water baptized. Water baptism has no value for us

Acts 1:4-5 was a directed to the Apostles not you.

Jews were at Pentecost................[Act 2:5 KJV] 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven...........this was fulfillment of prophecy for Israel.............. [Act 2:16 KJV] 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

‘Here is my scripture about that.

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”
So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”
And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?”
So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
Acts 19:1-6

so praying in tongues is no different than praying in our common language. so why do it?
When a Christian prays in tongues or speaks in tongues the words are coming from the Holy Spirit the Christian does not think the words before saying them , the Holy Spirit gives the utterance . The prayer will be exactly what needs to be said at the time because it comes from the Holy Spirit .
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Holy Spirit wasnt given until after Christ's ascension and Acts can't always be taken as doctrine for today

Oh, ok, so you say "pick and choose", whatever you like or dislike.

No wonder there is such a mess in the churches today.

My guess is that this is why prosperity preaching is so much liked these days.
It feels good and tickles the ears.

Speaking in "tongues" does not tickle the ears because it's a real gift of the Spirit.

that is the one thing they have in common . All who teach falsehoods
either twist and or omit the scrips and letters left to the church .
But the sheep DO NOT HEAR THEM . Will not buy into their lies .
So allow me some parting words .
What was left for us to learn in the bible IS THE TRUTH .
it is meat for the sheep . And any man woman or child , donkey or angel
that tries to come along and omit or twist , THE SHEEP wont heed a word one or one word outta their lips .
MARCH ON IN THE TRENCHES . we got mass amounts of decievers that abound in these last hours .

Our doctrine is found in Paul which says we receive the Spirit upon belief ....................[1Co 12:13 KJV] 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
[Eph 1:13 KJV] 13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
