Then you do not believe in the Bible and GOD'S commandments. .

Pastor Jim Jones received water baptism. Do you believe he went straight to Heaven immediately after murdering hundreds of his cult members and committing suicide?

Rejecting water baptism is death?
"And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16).

"And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him." (Luke 7:29-30). Rejecting God's counsel will get you eternal life in the burning flames (lake of fire) with the scribes and Pharisees. "For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, Ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5: 20).

Sure, spiritual baptism.
Lets take a look in Act 8:35-39 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Let’s go into Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh* us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

It's actually both, spiritual and physical, the physical act of being baptized in Water shows God that you have faith, and that institute the spiritual part of the baptism. Then Peter said unto them, "repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38).

My brother I believe that you are misunderstanding.

The theif on the cross was not holy, or baptized

Someone could forbid you in some way, or stand in your way of doing so

Mat 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Mat 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

John, who had the Holy Ghost from His mothers womb, says he had need to be baptized by Jesus

These Gentiles had the Holy Ghost, and Peter asks if any can forbid these from water here

Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

The eunuch heard the message of Jesus Christ and when he saw water and immediately asks Philip

Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said,
See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Adding, "what doth hinder me"?

Which could be something like a theif nailed to a cross confesses his belief in Jesus , for example one of the thives

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Just for clarity and your edification

The thief was forgiven by Christ as he forgave others while alive, under the OT! Baptism wasn't a requirement of salvation until Christ died, at which point the NT began. Read Hebrews 9:16-17

16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

It's a false argument trying to relate the thief on the cross with baptism.

I am not really arguing for against it, I am talking about something hindering one from being baptized as it shows in the all of the first examples. And in that last example, the thief would fall into a perfect example (being nailed to a cross) who would absolutely be hindered from doing so. But in the figure of things (as someone had mentioned earlier) that if you would take it (even in that particular way) it also says this...

Romans 6
[3] Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
[6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

The thief was literally crucified with Christ, and his own body of sin being destroyed, and he would also no longer henceforth serve sin either. Being a figure of that baptism, It was a play off of that.

But if you don't see it, thats fine.

You can't fake your way in.We are born into death in this life we cannot ascend to heaven when we are baptism we are reborn in the spirit to eternal life.We become a temple for the Holy Spirit which is the Trinity which includes Jesus and the Father.Without baptism we are born only into death. When we are baptized we become living stones in the body of Christ which is his church.

The Bible does not tell us if the thief was or was not baptized....Where?

Under the old covenant no one was baptized for sin frgiveness...it wasn't required. Only under the new covenant....it is required for the completion of sin forgiveness.

Wow! So he's a "Pastor" to you?

If you'll study the man's life you'll find he started off good and in the beginning was preaching Truth.

Then to the chagrin of the OSAS false teachers this guy backslid falling away from the Lord over in to teaching doctrines of demons, kinda like the OSAS people do.

Thankfully most OSAS people don't put poison in their kool aid, yet.

I have run across Church of Christ people who claim as long as one is dunked in the water they are saved, but they typically teach one must actually live for the Lord afterwards to their credit

Where did I say the thief was water baptized?

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Greetings gpresdo,

The thief on the cross was crucified with Christ in true faith and confession and experience. What we do symbolically he did in actual fact. He demonstrated more faith than most of the Apostles and his contemporaries believing in the resurrection of Jesus as the Messiah, and the return of Jesus to set up His Kingdom on the earth. He asked to be remembered when Jesus came to set up His Kingdom, and Jesus assured him then and there that he would be with Jesus when he came again.

Kind regards
Trevor

Mk 16:15-16

Rev 2:10
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

And FYI, Jeffrey Dahmer was baptized into Christ while in prison prior to his death by a minister of the coC.

God knows the hearts of men. It's not the water, it's obedience. Same obedience in 2 Kings 5, when Naaman finally obeyed and dipped 7 times in the filthy Jordan river as he was told to do by Elisha to cleanse his leprosy.
