It is not just the Chinese who have old memories of a creator God, the Maories in New Zealand do as well see:-
Thanks.
There are probably many others.

I thought that it was fascinating that the Chinese character for the word "west" contained two trees with a garden. (square)
An obvious reference to the Garden of Eden. (in the west)

Yes it is amazing that the knowledge of One Almighty God can be found in other, what Christianity calls pagan or heathen, religions.
It is a shame that often this knowledge is kept hidden from the ordinary people.

Thank you for the post!

This spiritual beginning of the Chinese people is all new to me (although not surprising). I had never run across Shang Di, the one supreme God. (Will look into more.)

Question: how did the Chinese lose their spiritual roots? For comparison, although the Hebrew tribes were chosen by God to be a model for humanity, some of their leadership (starting with Solomon) slid into apostasy, leading to the exile, etc. Apparently the lust for power was too tempting for some of the early Chinese tribal leaders, and once the first emperor seized absolute power, there was no turning back.

As God works with the few Christian leaders in China today, we can hope for a slow but steady return to a spiritual-based leadership (but not likely in our lifetimes).

Blessings.

That's a good question.
Although they may have only had a shared history, not a shared spirituality.
They found their own way.
