Who did miracles besides Jesus?
In the Old Testament, Moses did miracles to demonstrate his authority as God's spokesman (Exod. 4:1–9). Similarly, the prophetswere given words to speak from God, and in order to verify their authority God granted them the ability to perform miracles (1 Kings 17:17–24, 18:36–39, 2 Kings 1:10).

- What is the use of divine authority?

The reason that Satan became the "god of this world" is because the dominion of this world that was given to Adam, was confiscated by Satan, ... because Adam bowed the knee to Him, when Adam rebelled against God.
So, that "dominion" that was Adam's became under new ownership.

When 2nd Adam destroyed the works of the Devil through The Cross and by His Bodily Resurrection, then what we have now is.. .Jesus said.. "all power is given unto me in/on Heaven and on earth".

So, how does that translate to us?

A.) By Faith.

- What is the abuse of divine authority?

Any Theology that tries to manipulate Christianity into a carnal situation, is an "abuse" of divine authority.

Here is an example.

A Christian Pastor, who puts = too much emphasis on "the prosperity gospel".. so that it actually causes people to become Greedy trying to chase riches.

So, God is happy to prosper His own, as we are "Heir's of God" so we have access to all He has.....and that includes the bounty of many types of prosperity.........but not JUST the financial.

So, the abuse is to corrupt the prospeity blessing of God, into a "one track" situation whereby the believer now sees God as "its all about the financial gain". = "God... show me the money".

@amigo de christo .....are those who marry lesbians and gays, under the authority of Jesus?

Who is leading them to perform these marriages....would you say that they are under the influence of the world?

Will they be accountable for performing these marriages in his name..
They are under the influence of all out darkness . Its an open mockery to GOD
who has well spoken on how he views sin and etc .
THEY will be held accountable . Folks better hurry and repent and actually learn the REAL JESUS CHRIST
Yes rita they are the blind who lead the blind and
have not the LOVE of GOD in them . GOD desires life , NOT death .
GOD loves and His love never leads one into rebellion and darkness against HIM .
This is a love of the world .
This is a sell out in order to keep and maintain change to suit the every changing world and its views .
THIS is a betrayal to the ONE TRUE GOD who does love and does desire life .
You shall not hate your neighbor in your heart you shall in any way correct him and not allow sin upon him .
These people have no love for humanity at all . THEIR love is of the world
and its always changing to suit the flesh of man .

How then is it possible that they fulfilled the miracles without Jesus' authority to do so?

[
Satan has been given power . He and his men , his co workers sure can perform miracles .
There have always been spirits at work who can perform divination
can perform miracles , AND THEY SURE AINT OF GOD .
Satan does have power . HE in a moment of time could even SHOW JESUS all the kingdoms of this world .
THEY GOT POWER friend .
And by these miracles they are indeed able to decieve many .
Just because one can perform miracles and wonders DONT MEAN THEY SERVE GOD at all .
And its high time the RCC and protestant realm FIGURED THAT OUT .
While it is true there are true miracles of GOD by CHRIST
IT IS just as true that the false prophets can also perform miracles as well .
FOLKS better watch out .
DOCTRINE DOES MATTER . TRUTH does matter . SERVING GOD does matter
yet many serve satan and beleive its GOD they serve .
I SUGGEST its high time to put a bible into the hand of every man , woman and child
and Folks start learning for themselves what many within christendom no longer teach or rightly divide , TRUTH .

To the trenches one and all . These be the very last days on earth .
Time does draw short and the coming of the LORD draws nigh .
The sheep have a real good HOME , prepared BY THE LORD , a home they never earned but was freely given them IN CHRIST .
And i , for one , look so foward to that new home , the new heavens and the new earth
wherein FOREVER GOD SHALL BE HONORED and none will ever once contradict HIM
but wherein the saved shall simply PRAISE AND HONOR HE WHO SAVED US .
HOME sounds so nice to this sheep . But till that day and until that hour
WE must press on , for times shall only worsen
but THE LORD SHALL BE OUR GUIDE and be with us even unto death . FORWARD , AND MARCH right into the trenches
fearing not man or what he can do but letting rather the LIGHT OF CHRIST SHINE for all to see

Kingdom business is done in the name (divine authority) of Jesus' name.
- Jesus gave His disciples authority over demons and to heal the sick (scripture below)
- The disciples observed others, outside the group, using the authority of Jesus' name. (scripture below)
- Jesus said that in the judgement, some will report having used the authority of His name to do miracles.
But he will declare that He never knew them. (scripture below)
- God has raised us up and seated us with Christ in the heavenly realms. (scripture below)

Much more to say about this. But this is enough for now.

Matthew 10:1 NIV
Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority
to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

Luke 10:17 NIV
The seventy-two returned with joy and said,
“Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

Mark 9:38 NIV
“Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name
and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”

Matthew 7:22-23 NIV
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name
and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Ephesians 2:6 NIV
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

- What is the use of divine authority?

The correct understanding of Faith is the "use of divine authority".

- What is the abuse of divine authority?

An example would be : The MaryCult that has created this idea of a : Pope.

This is not really "divine authority".......its a cult pretending to be associated with Divine Authority, and they abuse their cult members with this mind control.
All cults are the same.....they all claim to be "from God".

Hi St. Steven,
This has always been a head scratcher for me. How do you reconcile these verses. It makes me think that anyone who believes will show these signs. Like the day of Pentecost when ALL were speaking in tongues:

"16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well."

Thanks. I
I've never spoken in tongues and have prayed so hard for my mom, dad and sister to be healed but...they died at an early age, all 3 of them.

Thanks!

It is sad indeed that those that do not learn from History not only condemn themselves, but also those that believe their words!
In 1 of Christ's "teaching's" concerning this, is the whole chapter of Matthew 23!
Where Jesus Himself pretty much defines "Abuse/s Of Divine Authority", or alleged authority!
Indicating in very specific terms where "Powers and Principalities of Darkness" lie!

Yes, this can be confusing and frustrating for many.
I think part of the problem is the level of unbelief in America and the west in general.
Jesus could do only a few miracles in His hometown because of unbelief.
There are reports of those in other countries not struggling with these things as much.

Here are a few of my topics on the subject.

A biblical response to the claims of Cessationism (versus Continuationism)

...gifts such as speaking in tongues, prophecy and healing ceased with the original twelve apostles. This is generally opposed to continuationism, which teaches that the Holy Spirit may bestow the spiritual gifts on persons other than the original twelve apostles at any time. Essentially...

Cessationism versus Continuationism - The fallacy of "Signs Gifts".

...the Holy Spirit were signs to authenticate the early church. And consequently the miracle gifts disappeared when the Apostles did. Continuationism says that all the gifts were for the church and that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still valid today. The book of Acts and 1...

Thank you!
I think you are correct in that in the West, we are spoiled. And our faith is not near as strong as some poorer countries. Or, maybe they did cease as it says in scripture. So difficult to decipher.

always remember that cessationsim is not biblical .
Your correct about many in the western socties are spoiled .
But the gifts have never ceased . They are all part of evangelising the gospel
and for the edification of the church . TILL OUR LORD DO COME .
I would say this , not only is faith not strong , its dead in many places in these western socities .
Been put to sleep if you will , or NEVER had it at all .
The doctrines of men have literally squeezed out the things of GOD . THAT TOO is a fact .
You just march on in the trenches sister . HOPE IN GOD , IN CHRIST and let us pray always
for one another . Be diligent in the things of the LORD .
Growing in grace and by the POWER of the HOL Y LORD .
THE FIERY trials , OH SISTER THEY ARE COMING . for now it has been mainly
words , and some outcasting . it will get WORSE sister . laws are changing
and not FOR THE GOOD either . but always remember that GOD works to the g ood of those who love him .
THE LORD IS WITH HIS OWN no matter what is allowed to come against us .

Amazing how someone who admits not trusting the Bible quotes the Bible.

Quoting STV:
And clarity is further confused by the definitions shell game.
Why do we need a secret decoder ring to understand the Bible?
This is Freakin' nuts. (no wonder I don't trust the Bible)
