While composing a response post on another thread (obviously) it occurred to me the benefits I received from my religious upbringing.

I spend plenty of time talking against it now, but only occasionally speak to the benefits.

Others may have taken a similar path. Started in one place and ended up somewhere else.

So, here's the question: In your spiritual journey,
- what did you take with you and
- what did you leave behind?

How do you answer the desert island question?

I left the need for certainty back at the house.
I took with me the need to trust.

So surrender the hunger to say, "I must know!",
Have the courage to say, "I believe!"
For the power of paradox opens your eyes,
And blinds those who say they can see

By taking a solar panel, a rectifier and batteries, a satellite internet connect device and a computer, but sadly I had to throw these devices overboard because they were sinking the holey boast I was in.

The best part was the disconnection from people like you, as I was coming ashore in God's everlasting Kingdom, who question what and why I believe in Christ and His salvation promises.
