For awhile I was having digestive issues to the point I didn't want to eat anymore. Whatever the digestive issues were, (pain/discomfort in the gallbladder/stomach area) my body was practically forcing me to fast intermittently just because of the discomfort that eating brought about.

I decided to fast for 7 days straight. Nothing but water and some essential vitamins (learned about the importance of salt about halfway through the journey). The fast gave my body a break and apparently allowed it to enter a state of what they call autophagy, where your body cleans itself of bad cells for energy, if I remember correctly. Not sure if autophagy had anything to do with my digestive system during this process.

Throughout probably the 5th to 7th days of the fast, I may have had some digestive discomfort come back, even though I wasn't eating anything.

I broke the fast after 166 hours with a teaspoon of mustard and then some beef bone broth, followed by some soft boiled eggs a few hours later. I think that teaspoon of mustard was the best thing I've ever tasted in my life. I eased food back into my routine through the course of the next few days, and during that process, I did experience a bit of discomfort digesting food.

However, once I was back in full force, the digestive issues have been gone.

So I thank the Lord, and look forward to fasting again sometime soon to remain humbled and hopefully maintain health.

Fasting is a simple and easy way to renew the body.

The hard part is persevering through the initial hunger stages…

I always feel better after fasting, even after just a 24 hour fast.

Yes, once the third day was over for me, there were pretty much no cravings left. Then it was just about the other challenges that came with it.

A 7-day fast to "fix" digestive pain is pretty hardcore—or just plain reckless depending on who you ask. Glad you didn't pass out, and yeah, autophagy is cool, but maybe see a doctor about that gallbladder/stomach pain instead of just starving it into submission? Breaking a week-long fast with mustard is wild, too—your poor stomach must've been screaming!
