Benefits?

Peace of mind and heart since I came to know the Lord in 1972. Also in my senior years, it's a great comfort to know I'll be with Him when I pass from this earthly life. My 94 year old mom passed on last year...a great comfort knowing she's with the Lord.

Typically evangelizing the "lost"
focuses on why Christianity is "true".

A convincing argument is used to win the day and produce a new convert.
Assuming all the concerns of the prospect can be dissuaded.

However, I was thinking about the day-to-day benefits.
The positive effects of absorbing biblical teaching, as it relates to life.

- When we encounter an angry person. (a soft answer turns away wrath)
- In our interactions with others. (look to the interests of others)
- When lining up with others. (put the other person first)
- If someone else gets the promotion we had hoped for.
(humble yourself; you will be exalted in due time)

What other practical benefits can you think of?

When those outside the church hear us speaking about Christianity,
what negative images come to their mind?

Besides what I said above, it's just a good life. Jesus said to love our neighbor as ourselves so I always have friendly neighbors in response. (Treat others how you want to be treated.)

One avoids alot of negative life experiences when you follow the Lord. Some people seem to get into trouble a lot...if only they would seek guidance from the Word of God.

Statistically being religous has health benefits, there is far greater social support among those involved in a church community.

As Dawkins says he is a social christian because Christianity supports a better society than a non christian socity ( thats his words not mine )

On a greater social impact it is Christianity that supports fareness in how laws and society works and yes the west has its share of unfare, unjust societies, would you rather live in North Korea?

No Scripture of course!

Trolling the topic with no valuable input as usual.
Another confession with ZERO Scripture?

Let me quote STV:

"no wonder I don't trust the Bible"!

So why do you claim to be Christian? Don't know? Don't want to say?

A sense of peace in a dark, evil world. I dont keep up with the news, but if I did, I would relax knowing God is still in control.

We can take much hope in the promise that all things work together for good , to them that love God, and are called according to His purpose. Roman 8:28.
The above promise brings peace when storms break all around us.
