John 20:17 WEB
(17) Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
Jesus plainly says that our God and heavenly Father (YHVH) is also Jesus' God and Father. It is therefore quite clear that Jesus is not God.
I suspect that some people get confused because Jesus is referred to as a god, and whenever the word is capitalised they think it is referring to the almighty God YHVH. But that isn't the case. God has an only begotten Son who He has appointed to rule over all of His creation, and therefore He rightly refers to His Son as a god/God. A god is a mighty ruler, but there is only one god who is almighty, mightier than all other gods, and that is our heavenly Father, YHVH. Hebrews 1:8-9 UASV
(8) But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of his kingdom.
(9) You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."
God's Son is not God - obviously! The Son is not the God of himself, nor has he anointed himself!
Consider 2 Corinthians 4:4 WEB
(4) in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.
The "god of this world" is referring to Satan. That's the same Greek word that's translated as god (
theos) that's used to refer to almighty God YHVH later in the verse, which is written in the English translation with a capital G out of reverence to God. But we should not let the translator's choice of whether or not to capitalise the word god confuse us.
