Me, I just figured the Holy Spirit doesn’t operate the way we think He/She/It should. “It wasn’t what I thought it was” could be the theme of my spiritual journey.

No. The Holy Spirit works very well.
But some bypass it.
That would be these new ideas that have sprung up in the church that never exised from the very beginning.

So here's what I do:
I trust those that were taught by the Apostles.
The Apostolic Fathers.

They believed in baptism.
They believed in good works.
They believed salvation could be forfeited.
and
They believed Jesus is God.

Then I have to hear some state that they were not inspired.
I guess those that came up with these brand new ideas are inspired?

We have certainly gone off course and heretical teachings abound.

1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,

Yes sir. I'll take what Ignatius wrote - being taught by both John and Peter - over what Charles Stanley (or your favorite modern preacher that does NOT agree with the Apostels) has to say any day.

Thus when it was written long ago
that the Word was GOD , i highly suggest that men take T RUTH as T RUTH
and leave the things they do not understand alone . For if any
bringeth and do give an understanding of the GODHEAD
and yet their explanation contradicts what was already written , they let man be true and call GOD a liar .
I understand the Godhead can sure seem complex and hard to be understood .
but what one cannot do is begin to twist things
in order to fit what they THINK it means or IS .
I AM THE FIRST AND THE LAST . I know WHO First said that in t orah . GOD DID .
And yet in revelation i see JESUS saying this about Himself .
So while i do understand it m ight be hard to understand
I KNOW without a doubt that one cannot change what is already written
in order to EXPLAIN the GODHEAD . for to twist the scrips , one does so unto their own destruction .

of course a person should just read the bible and accept what it plainly says.
But some don't do this and they change the meaning of a verse or they get obsessed with the meaning of a word, etc.

I have read a little of the ECFs...they are the ones that were taught by the Apostles and so they wrote what the Apostles taught them.

I've found this to be very helpful and it's good to know what the early church taught before there began to be changes.
It's unfortunate that changes were indeed made - but I think we've spoken about this before.

I suppose history ended when John died.

I suppose the Apostles forgot to go forth and teach all nations.

I suppose the bible is sufficient - not for salvation (which it is)
but for knowing EXACTLY what Jesus wants from us
and the Apostles.

God judges that. People we don’t judge unless like they are in court case most of the time. Or we say to people hey might wanna stay away from those people it’s dangerous.



But what does everyone have?

Choice. I don’t always abide in Christ but he shows when I do…. It’s him not me.





So…. Obviously the answer is yes but the choice is yours. God sees it; and people can’t see your heart.
