Do the Ten Commandments still apply under the new covenant today?

My Dear Brother in YAHshua HaMashiach,

YAHshua is our Sabbath Rest

Jesus is God's Rest for us who believe, for no day of the week is more holy then the next.
Where in scripture does it say that all days are blessed and holy?

“1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. ”
Genesis 2:1-3 KJV

“8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. ”
Exodus 20:8, 11 KJV

“If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: ”
Isaiah 58:13 KJV

“And he said unto them, The sabbath was made (at creation) for man (ἄνθρωπος anthropos...mankind... everyone)
, and not man for the sabbath: ”
Mark 2:27 KJV

Missionaries have entered into villages in utterly remote areas, untouched and previously unreached by any church, to discover the people there already observing the Sabbath. As i said previously, it's about revelation and relationship.
Even though you know what the Bible says, wharf the 4th commandment is, you still reject it. So you contradict your own thesis.
Let me repeat, if you had not read of biblical law you would not have believed you should observe a set Saturday sabbath would you, you would have known nothing about that law. That in itself proves, according to what Paul wrote, that law as written is not placed in the hearts and minds of believers.
You are still looking to an external written down law, that is NOT where the law now is for believers. And to be honest, the law within carries far more conviction of sin than an external law ever will, hence, people who look to an external law, do not have the consciousness of sin they should have when they transgress law/TC they insist must be obeyed.
Who contradicts their own thesis?
You say the righteous will obey the TC, but you and your denomination accept people as righteous/saved who do not and never have observed a set Saturday sabbath

I wonder how the ten moral disciplines that honor God and one another could ever be said to expire?

Jesus said loving God and one another are two points upon which all Gods laws and the teachings of the Prophets of God hang.
Although the Mosaic Law has been fulfilled and set aside for believers in Christ, it is still active for those who have not believed the Gospel and have rejected Christ. There are two types of people in the world, those who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, and those who are still condemned by the law and their failure to keep it.

What is the Sabbath? How do you define the Sabbath?

"Once one puts their trust in Christ as Saviour, the Law is fulfilled and no longer applies."
I think once we put our trust in Jesus the laws written in our hearts guarantees we obey the ten commandments. Especially as we are doing so already with the first command.
It is the Jewish Saturday Sabbath, being a requirement for Jews under the Mosaic Law. Gentiles were not obligated. The Sabbath does not apply to Christian believers because Law has been replace by grace and the indwelling Holy Spirit.

To say "the Law will be written on their hearts" is to imply that by the power of the divine nature bestowed by God upon His chosen, His children will keep the law by their walk in the Spirit.

Thus the law no longer applies to them because, like Jesus, they fulfill it by the root of their desires; which all aim to please God.

Those retaining a sinful nature by the lies to which they cling feel the weight of the Law's condemnation presently. Those walking in the Spirit by faith are alleviated of this burden and have no more shame.

My Dear Brother in YAHshua HaMashiach,

YAHshua is our Sabbath Rest

Jesus is God's Rest for us who believe, for no day of the week is more holy then the next.

Sorry if the text is a bit long but i need to give a complete answer as much as possible. some will try and label me as SDA but I am not. I am just faithful to the word of God and want to do His Will.
Saying that Jesus is our rest is very true, but it is not the same as saying the Sabbath no longer matters or that every day is the same.

Jesus Himself invited people to find rest in Him. He said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NKJV). This rest is rest for the soul. It is about trust, forgiveness, and walking with Him. But Jesus never said this rest replaces the Sabbath day.

Jesus also said, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27, NKJV). This shows the Sabbath was given as a gift for people, not as a burden. A gift is not removed just because we find rest in Christ. It still has a purpose.

Jesus did not treat all days as equal. He kept the Sabbath Himself. “As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day” (Luke 4:16, NKJV). If every day were the same, this detail would not matter. He also said He did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17, NKJV). Fulfilling does not mean canceling.

Jesus even spoke of the Sabbath as something that would still matter in the future. He told His disciples to pray that their flight would not be on the Sabbath (Matthew 24:20, NKJV). This makes no sense if the Sabbath had no meaning anymore.

After Jesus, His disciples continued the same pattern. In Acts, we see them teaching and worshiping on the Sabbath (Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4, NKJV). In Revelation, God’s faithful people are described as “those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12, NKJV). The Sabbath commandment is part of those commandments.

From the beginning, God set one day apart. “God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it” (Genesis 2:3, NKJV). To sanctify means to make holy. God never said He made all days holy in the same way.

There is also something very important about the Sabbath that should not be ignored. God calls the Sabbath a sign and a test, and He places it inside His covenant.

God clearly defined His covenant by the Ten Commandments. Scripture says, “He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone” (Deuteronomy 4:13, NKJV). The Sabbath is not outside that covenant. It stands in the very heart of it.

The Sabbath is also called a sign between God and His people. God said, “Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you” (Exodus 31:13, NKJV). A sign shows who we belong to. It is not something we invent or remove on our own.

Because it is a sign, the Sabbath also becomes a test of obedience and trust. God said, “That I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not” (Exodus 16:4, NKJV). The test is not about earning salvation. It is about whether we trust God enough to keep His word as He gave it and trust that He shall provide, just like he did provide for the israelites in the desert giving them Manna.

Jesus never removed this test, and He never redefined the covenant. He kept the Sabbath, taught on it, and showed its true purpose. He warned against lawlessness and said that love for Him is shown by obedience to God’s commandments (John 14:15, NKJV).

We do not have the authority to remove one commandment because it feels different from the others. We cannot say nine remain while one disappears. God did not give us ten suggestions. He gave a covenant. The Sabbath stands as part of that covenant, a sign of loyalty, trust, and rest in the God who sanctifies His people. Keeping the sabbath properly if nit a burden, see Isaiah 58:13

Blessings to you always, David of NJ

Jesus Himself invited people to find rest in Him.

And He has thus provided ever since. He is the Sabbath rest, the Way by which we may enter into the presence of the Father, the Good Shepherd whose rod and staff keep us on the straight and narrow as we walk this life by faith in the Spirit.

I would say, the law being written on the heart, means, the believer in their heart desires to live as God wants them to live. But would it be fully followed/perfect obedience? I always think that when we speak of keeping the law, we should always add that none of us perfectly follow it.

It is impossible to obey the 4th commandment apart from the LORD Jesus Christ

When God spoke that He rested on the seventh day/Genesis, He was speaking of HIM who was to Come = the Savior

The Jews continue in saturday sabbath observance but have not entered the REST of God except for the few who genuinely believe in Christ.
The Catholics continue in sunday observance but have not entered the REST of God, except for the few who genuinely believe in Christ.

Neither saturday nor sunday pleases God = as God has said: "This is My Beloved SON in Whom I am Well PLEASED/REST"

A Blood Washed Saint can disregard saturday as being more holy then the next day, or any day, for CHRIST is the Sabbath REST of God.

Make Today the day you find complete REST in God thru CHRIST = Today if you hear His Voice

David saw limits to all perfection. Obedience is part of an ever expanding existence within the Refuge.

Were there Jews in Eden?

I believe we who are faithful in Christ are one people. We are not divided by what is argued as Jewish and Gentile.
If we were,I don't think we could say we have a right,or would be called,to follow the Messiah of the Jews.

I searched for where Jesus made that statement, but all I got was the Exodus 20 reference. What I did get was that Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for men, not men for the Sabbath, and that He is Lord of the Sabbath. But nowhere did He command His followers to observe the Sabbath. However, He would have observed the Sabbath because at that time He was living as a Jew under the Law.

Also, unconverted people are still under the Law, with its associated condemnation for their failure to keep it. But when a person is converted to Christ, he becomes a new man under grace with the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Law, which showed him he was a condemned sinner needing Christ as his saviour, causing him to turn to Christ in faith, was fulfilled and superseded. He then had the power to stop sinning without having to be obligated to the Law. He has a new law in his heart which he follows through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus worked on the Sabbath. He healed people and he taught in the synagogue.

I think his being Lord of the Sabbath means he has control of its observance. Which he showed everyone and including the judgemental Pharisees who witnessed his work.

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Mark 2:27-28

The Sabbath was made for us.
In Genesis the first day of rest was of God. After God created everything.

Sabbath is God's gift for humans. Our well-being, rest from the stresses of the world, and our spiritual connection to God without worldly distractions.

I know Christians who are allowed the Sabbath day off of work. They ask for this when they apply.
I can't say there is anything wrong with observing God's gift to us.

When Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, he is our Savior who gives us rest in him. Serving him one day undistracted. Everyday, we have Jesus with us. And I feel blessed he has given us one day where we can fall into that divine rest and serve his will.

God made Sabbath for us. All believers in him. I can find nowhere in the Bible where Jesus took his Sabbath gift away from us.

If we have rest in him in Salvation, how can it be wrong to take a day of rest in the gift he made for us. He's Lord of the Sabbath. He's in control of all, including Sabbath.

Why would he strike the Sabbath from his faithful because they are his faithful?

Exodus 20:8
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy."

Don't be called the least in Heaven.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:17-19

Mark 2:27-28
And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
