2 Peter 3:3 knowing this firs that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.....9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance....13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Peter said that according to the promise of Christ's second coming, we (believers) "look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.".
Yes. Regarding that promise of the new heavens and earth. That must come true as well. That is slated for the end of the 1000 yrs (after he returns to earth)

But, you have Israelite believers looking for far less than "new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells" in fulfillment of the promise of Christ's second coming.
What you think they look forward to doesn't really matter. The new earth is coming like it or not. Sorry if you are shocked that many Jews who believe will be thrilled to actually finally get restored to the land by God for real.
Don't you think that Peter knew what he was talking about?
Yes. He talked of the new earth at the end of the 1000 yrs...so?

You didn't answer the question you were asked about God being a respecter of persons.
Fulfilling promises is not being a respecter of persons it is being a respecter of His word!
Why would God ensure the salvation of everyone in one nation (Israel) and not any other nation?
Not true, all who believe in Jesus are assured salvation. Just because saved Jews will also be restored to the promised land does not take away from our salvation.

No the promises are the same. Not fulfilled yet. He has not restored a saved Israel etc
Just keeping ignoring passages like Hebrews 11:8-16 if you insist. You are obviously unteachable just like most people on this forum. Sad to witness.

The only 'limitation' on His promises is that they must come true
We all believe they must come true and all believe that His promises always come true, but don't all have the same understanding of how they come true.

LOL. You are a comedian. Peter specifically indicated that believers look for the new heavens and new earth in direct fulfillment of the promise of Christ's second coming. We who understand what Peter taught don't look for an imaginary earthly millennial kingdom in fulfillment of the promise of His second coming as Premils like you do. We instead look for new heavens and a new earth where righteousness will dwell for eternity in fulfillment of the promise of Christ's second coming. That places His second coming after the non-literal thousand years.

Nonsense! You are not being honest here. Why are you not willing to honestly address anyone's arguments? Scripture teaches that God is not a respecter of persons. For Him to purposely save all the people of one nation but not any other nation would make Him out to be a respecter of persons. You can't just ignore that!

Not true, all who believe in Jesus are assured salvation. Just because saved Jews will also be restored to the promised land does not take away from our salvation.
Read my question again and try to answer it again. What you said here comes nowhere near actually answering the question I asked, which was "Why would God ensure the salvation of everyone in one nation (Israel) and not any other nation?".

They better be patient then. That is stated to only come after the thousand years! However our home with Jesus is there right now waiting. It will not be coming down from heaven to earth though when Jesus returns until after the millennium
We who understand what Peter taught don't look for an imaginary earthly millennial kingdom in fulfillment of the promise of His second coming
We look forward to our eternal new home. New Jerusalem. We also look forward to a beautiful earth in the 1000 years on earth! He is going to rule the earth. We will also be reigning with Him here. That will be our 'day job' in the 1000 years!

Yes. He honestly will fulfill all His promises. I kid you not. Why would you call Him not keeping His word 'honest'?
Why are you not willing to honestly address anyone's arguments?
Read again for comprehension
Scripture teaches that God is not a respecter of persons. For Him to purposely save all the people of one nation but not any other nation would make Him out to be a respecter of persons. You can't just ignore that!
He does not save any nation unless they believe in Jesus. When that remnant see Jesus returning, they will finally realize and believe and weep as for an only son. That is why they are saved. That is why you or I are saved, belief in Jesus. Did you think that God waves a wand and picks out some nationn of unbelievers and forces them to convert while tossing the others to hell in a handbasket?
"Why would God ensure the salvation of everyone in one nation (Israel) and not any other nation?".
See above. He is no respecter of persons and whosoever comes to Him He will in no wise cast out. The remnant comes to Him in the end. It will be come to Jesus time.

Not because of our similar politics? That we are both free societies (so called)? I think we'd be allies anyway.

Much love!
No. There's far more going on in America with regards to Israel than a shared political view. If it were only political, people like Tucker Carson wouldn't be reacting the way he is. And neither would the military commanders be instructing their troops that they were in a holy war.

The commentary I saw described the sun and moon as ways to describe Israel. A bit like 'you light won't dim or go out' etc. Nothing to do with New Jerusalem. That seems to make sense.
Ok, let’s substitute the word Israel for sun and moon in Isaiah 60:20, keeping in mind that it’s direct intended audience is Israel.

Isaiah 60:20(KJV) Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Isaiah 60:20(dad version) Israel’s Israel shall no more go down; neither shall Israel’s Israel withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be Israel’s everlasting light, and the days of Israel’s mourning shall be ended.

But however we choose to see it, it should be in faith, and not as if we were looking for a mistake in the bible
I agree we shouldn’t be looking for mistakes in the Bible, it’s inerrant. When we come to what seems to be conflicting passages then we need to modify our views to conform to the inerrancy of the Bible.

Every eschatological view that I’ve come across has difficult areas that are not easily resolved, but having the Old Testament national Israel being reconstituted is froth with problems.

Tucker Carlson can be a bit of a nut, IMO. Besides, I don't think it's valid to point to the behavior of one non-government man and characterize the behavior of a government based on that one man's behavior.

And who is saying this above?? Holy war? Where is the quote? I'm curious to hear that.

As far as I can see, we are commonly aligned nations that would be allies regardless.

Much love!

Partial Preterists believe that most of Revelation (chapters 1–19) was fulfilled by the first-century destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.. Future events would include the Second Coming of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment, which are detailed in Revelation 20–22.

We don't agree. Roman Catholicism/ Pope are not anti-christs.

There is a global religious tyranny now! Islam has spread to over half the world. They have infiltrated Europe and even the USA. The Muslim Brotherhood occupies 80+ countries. CAIR is a Muslim organization right in the USA. These are terrorist organizations. They seek to convert the world in Europe, they are occupying government positions and appeasing them. They are growing exponentially.
We can see that now that the Shiite regime has suffered a blow, the Sunni terrorist will fill the void and likely JIHAD is soon. Sleeper terrorist cells in all nations will act soon. Biden let lots of them in.
Hi Ronald, how can the A.C. possibly come from Islam, or Catholicism for that matter? Can you see Israel accepting a Catholic or a Muslim as their long awaited Messiah? I believe the A.C. will come out of Israel.
Just saying!

Me, too, actually. You know, this is just me saying this, and I'm a conservative Christian, but just in the way the concept is... bandied about... I would actually say there is no such thing as a "holy war" in the way most people think or talk about that kind of thing.

Grace and peace to you, marks.

No. Here are a few bible commentaries to try and help you get the gist.

Thy sun shall no more go down. — Thy joy shall no man take from thee; thou shalt have a habitual cheerfulness. Isaiah 60 - Trapp's Complete Commentary - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

Isaiah 60:20 . Thy sun shall no more go down. The sun of Zion shall set no more, when Jehovah, her Messiah, shall become her everlasting light. The winterly ages of sorrow and sighing shall flee away Isaiah 60 - Sutcliffe's Commentary on the Old and New Testaments - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself - There shall be no national and spiritual obscuration again, as formerly (Joel 2:10; Amos 8:9).

Thy sun shall no more go down - There shall be no total and long night of calamity, error, and sin. Isaiah 60 - Barnes' Notes on the Whole Bible - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

What a graphic delineation is presented in these words of the privileges of the consecrated life! The Mighty One of Jacob becomes its Savior. Thenceforth it is ever ascending in the scale of experience, exchanging the period of stone for that of iron, of iron for silver, and of brass for gold. Anxiety and depression are followed by long and happy years of fulness and joy. Violence and destruction, which, like vandals, hewed and burned, are replaced by salvation and praise. The Lord becomes the everlasting light, and the days of mourning are ended.

Do not think that such an experience is too good to last, and so beautiful that it must be evanescent. When once the dawn of perfect surrender and acceptance breaks, there is no sundown, no shadowed sky, no more sorrow or crying, no more heartbreak or hopelessness. The inheritance is forever! The branch is ever green! The strong nation is destined never again to become small! Isaiah 60 - F.B. Meyer's 'Through the Bible' Commentary - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

19, 20. The sun shall be no more thy light For thy light and beauty shall exceed its brightness. No words can excel in beauty these verses. The spiritual Jerusalem is glorified through the shining of Jehovah as her everlasting light. Isaiah 60 - Whedon's Commentary on the Bible - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

etc etc etc

I agree we shouldn’t be looking for mistakes in the Bible, it’s inerrant. When we come to what seems to be conflicting passages then we need to modify our views to conform to the inerrancy of the Bible.
The passage about their sun and moon staying light has to do with them, rather than the planetary bodies. Trying to use this to say God breaks His word and ordinances is pathetic
Every eschatological view that I’ve come across has difficult areas that are not easily resolved, but having the Old Testament national Israel being reconstituted is froth with problems.

How about the reverse? Would Catholics accept a Jewish Messiah? Would Muslims?

I think the AC will perform miracles and using deceptive powers to deceive people into believing he is God and to worship him. Perhaps each religion and people will be convinced he fulfills whatever beliefs they had.

No, they wouldn't receive an Islamic leader or a Pope - that is absurd. I do not adhere to this scenario that the Jews will receive the Antichrist as there Messiah - even though because if their blindness, they are against Christ. However we see them deny Christ, they do not nor have not persecuted Christians in the way Islam has or the world has. The Antichrist gathers 10 nations to attack the Jews - as we see Islamic nations are now attacking Israel. Who is the little horn that suffers an apparent deadly blow but comes back to life possessed by Satan? A leader of Iran or Iran itself?

No. Here are a few bible commentaries to try and help you get the gist.
I agree somewhat with the commentaries but there are some glaring issues that stick out like a sore thumb.

Tapp equates joy with the sun and concludes that when the sun no longer goes down we will have habitual cheerfulness. An explanation of why we currently have joy when the sun is up and don’t when the sun is down is completely missing and doesn’t seem to take in account that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Sutcliffe equates the sun with the sun of Zion (Messiah) which is a very reasonable explanation but fails to explain why currently Messiah would be going down. It sounds good on the surface but lacks agreement with other scriptures if this condition is placed in the future. The explanation works if we place it occurring at the cross but I suspect that is avoided due to bias.

Barnes doesn’t comment on what the sun represents but does equate the sun going down with calamity, error, and sin. Avoiding what the sun represents allows for the explanation of why we currently have problems when the sun goes down but an interpretation that can answer both what the sun represents and why we have calamity when it goes down would be a superior interpretation.

F.B. Meyer doesn’t say what the sun represents nor does he attempt to explain why it’s going down would be problematic in the first place but he does comment on what transpires when the sun doesn’t go down.

Whedon seems to equate the sun not going down with Jehovah being spiritual Jerusalem’s light but as the other commentaries do, he completely fails to address why we would currently experience the light of Jehovah going down.

Do you see the problem here? Can you answer both what the sun represents and why we would currently have calamity when the sun goes down? I have a reasonable answer for this if you’re interested.

No. With God nothing is impossible. Having saved Jewish brethren returned to the promised land a great
Since nothing is impossible for God, then do you agree that it’s currently possible that Jeremiah 31:35-36 was fulfilled and Israel is no longer a nation before God, forevermore?

That is meaningless, as Abraham discovered when he realized he was living in "a strange country". God's plan for all of His people in the end is to give them the eternal new heavens and new earth.

When Jesus is on earth and protecting them, and crops grow faster than men can reap them, and people live a thousand years etc I would say that is pretty heavenly!
No, heavenly describes eternal things, not temporal. Your carnal perspective keeps you from understanding things like this.

When they also probably can visit New Jerusalem, I would say that is heavenly!
Visit New Jerusalem? What in the world does that mean? The New Jerusalem is not a literal city. It is "the bride, the Lamb's wife" (Revelation 21:9). Christ's bride/wife is not a literal city, it is the church.

Promising to restore a believing Israel from all over the world in ships and camels and etc etc is not interpretation. Believe it. Or not
I believe that you have no idea of what you're talking about.
